Waterfront Cottage: Up North Perfection Awaits on Five Private Acres.

Bedrooms 4
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Sunroom, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

If you are looking for the quintessential 'Up North' experience, you have found it. Perched on top of a gradual hill overlooking Suttons Bay, our cottage sits on 5 wooded acres. While relaxing on our 212' feet of private shoreline you will feel like the Bay is yours alone. You can enjoy panoramic views of Old Mission Peninsula and Stony Point, and take in the natural beauty of Northern Michigan in complete privacy.

At roughly 1,400 square feet our cottage is large enough for as many as 8 people, but cozy enough for one couple. The cabin is very quaint, with original oak floors, knotty pine walls throughout, and a wonderful sunroom. A floor-to-ceiling wood burning fireplace is a great way to top off the evening and enjoy the cottage's atmosphere. Also be witness to a rich variety of wildlife, including a family of swans, loons, ducks, and even the occasional bald eagle.

Enjoy our outdoor amenities, including three sea kayaks; a rowboat; and a professionally installed mooring anchor for your boat. A swimmer friendly dock, large sandy beach, bay-side fire pit, and horseshoe pit, round off the front yard features. And if you want to see the peninisula, you can use our two mountain bikes.

This charming original log cabin restores the nostalgia of your Up North memories. It is truly your home away from home.

Why The Owner chose Suttons Bay

Our family purchased this cottage over 40 years ago for its privacy and quality beachfront.

What makes this cottage unique

This property is truly unique for its amenties, privacy, and size. The cottage is nestled neatly atop a small grassy bluff overlooking an enormous front yard and over 210' of direct Grand Traverse Bay frontage. Enjoy a morning coffee in the sunporch, then walk down to the dock and push off into the Bay for a leisurely kayak ride. Lay out on our very large sand area during the day, where kids have plenty of room to build sand castles and play. Or take a bike ride anywhere in the pennisula with our mountain bikes. You can also relax on a hammock in the cool shade of a wonderful cedar grove. At night, build a big bonfire in the firepit.

The cabin is exceptionally private with over five acres of woodlands, and our neighbors lots are just as large. The cabin was built over 80 years ago and while it retains its original natural brick fireplace, wood floors and knotty pine walls, it has all the updated amentites you will need. We have a dock, sandy beach, three sea kayaks, and a row boat. If you have a boat you can store it overnight on our mooring ball in the bay. We also have a horse shoe pit, outdoor firepit, seasoned wood for your use, a perfectly situated outdoor hammock, two mountain bikes, and outdoor games for your use.

Perfect "up north" experience in the heart of wine (and beer and cider) country!

  • 5 of 5

Dreamcatcher was the perfect landing spot for our 9th annual family wine tasting extravaganza. We enjoyed all that nearby Traverse City and both peninsulas could offer by day, but couldn't wait to get back to smores around the bonfire, sunset kayak excursions, and the cozy, but still spacious, cabin with all the modern "necessities" - including wifi and cable. After 8 years, I think we finally found the perfect accomadations with Dreamcatcher. We'll be back! :)

Beautiful, well-kept cabin and property

  • 5 of 5

The dreamcatcher is a wonderful cabin sitting on a wide-open property overlooking beautiful and peaceful Sutton's Bay. The property is in perfect condition, and while the Cabin appears to be a little dated, it truly had everything you could ever want or need. The owners do a great job of making the place feel like a hotel - unlike other properties we've stayed at in the area. The owners provide literally everything you would need to make their cabin a home for your visit. The water is pristine and clear, the beach is sandy, and there are plenty of places to lounge outside - whether on the beach, around the fire, or up by the house. The cabin itself was very clean upon arrival, and not only did they provide AC units in each room there were fans provided around the house as well, and for the winter there were heaters available in each room as well. Like I said before - the owners thought of everything. This place is also toddler friendly. Our son could run around and play without us having to be worried about his safety. Overall it was a great experience and we will for sure be returning! Out of the two cabins we've stayed at in TC area, this one is our preference.

Esceeded expectations. Wonderful settting

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was quite nice with modern updated bathrooms with tile floors and good showers. The water was good (no sulpher). It is private, roomy, has a really neat enclosed porch and everything worked in the kitchen. The fire circle near the lake is a nice touch. We wouldn't hesitate to return when the opportunity presents .

Perfect family retreat

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we knew we had found a great spot. The home is much nicer than pictures show. The owners have organized the space carefully, so there were lots of places for people to sit and talk, or work a puzzle, or nap. The huge lawn provided a place for kids to run around, and of course the beach and the bay were splendid.

A few thoughtful details include: wood for the firepit and fireplace, kayaks and rowboat, hammock, games and lots of bath towels. Also, the place is really clean.

The location is awesome. There are tons of wineries right around,. We visited the Empire, Omena and Northport, as well as the dunes. Sutton's Bay is really charming.

We plan to return whenever we can.

Pictures do not do it justice!!!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was so breathtaking & the scenery was incredible not to mention all the things provided inside such as all the spices we needed, cooking oils & sprays, salt & pepper, an iron, hair dryer, towels & linens to mention a few. I packed all these things & did not use. There was even mosquito repellent. The outside was even better with kayaks, a rowboat, life preservers, mountain bikes, hammock, fire pit and all wood provide (we even found a fire stater lighter by the stack of firewood). We brought charcoal for the grill and it was also already there! We found it private and secluded but so close to everything. There was even a casino just a minute and three-second drive down the road. There is everything from gift shops, grocery stores, and even an old school movie theater (which was fantastic to show my kids) within a minutes drive. The backyard is incredible and again the pictures do not do any justice to what you will see. Also a perfect destination for those who are wanting to experience Sleeping Bear Dunes which is just a short drive away (highly recommended 😃?)

Located in the heart of Michigan's wine country! Leelanau County is home to dozens of wineries - all within minutes of the cottage. Great trails for hiking in the summer, or cross-country skiing/snowshoeing in the winter. It's the perfect location that provides a lot of privacy, but also accessibility to great shopping and eateries in the Village of Suttons Bay.
