This peaceful property is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac on the mountain above Waimea Valley. The air is cool and breezy and there is plenty of shade from the big mango and coconut trees. This traditional redwood plantation home has been remodeled and decorated with new furniture making it very cozy and clean. There is plenty of very safe, off-street parking within the property gates. Sharks Cove Beach, Three Tables Beach and Waimea Bay are just a 6 minute drive down Pupukea Road. Pupukea road is a residential rode without traffic. Sharks Cove has plenty of eating areas, rental shops, a coffee shop and a large grocery store. Breathtaking hiking, biking and horse back riding trails are within walking or biking distance from the property.

About Gavin Beschen
Gavin, Kendyl and their two children live in a fancy yurt on the back corner of the acre. The property is split and there is a fence separating the front half of the yard with the vacation rental and the rest of the property where the owners live. Although they like to give guests privacy, they are happy to interact with guests and offer any assistance they can. Gavin Beschen is a professional surfer and guests may book private surf experiences with him. Kendyl is a yoga and music teacher and offers private yoga and music lessons as well.
Gavin Beschen purchased this House in 2016
Why Gavin Beschen chose Haleiwa
We owned a home down by the beach for over 15 years and although our family surfs daily, we wanted to have more space, peace, and privacy so we moved up to beautiful Pupukea. Our property is such a short drive from the all the best beaches on the North Shore, yet when we are ready to leave the beach we are able to escape the traffic, noise and heat and come up to this peaceful sanctuary.
What makes this House unique
This property is so quiet and the neighborhood is very peaceful and charming. The home can sleep 8 and is very private. The temperature is also much cooler in Pupukea so AC is not necessary. Fans are available for use, but with the cool breeze most people don't even use the fans.

Love the breeze in Pupukea
We've stayed in many parts of the north shore, in lots of plantation homes and on the beach, but the breeze in Pupukea is just fantastic. Owners were so kind and great. Property was clean, and roomy. Great value, loved our stay. Mahalo
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay here. It was wonderful to host your family.
Peaceful home that provides a unique North Shore experience!
We came here for seven days with our family of 6 and 2 grandparents. The grandparents took the master with the attached bathroom, and that left three rooms, 2 with two twins, and 1 with a queen, plus a bathroom. Easy peasy sleeping for eight people.
We arrived at this property on Oahu after leaving a lovely time on Kauai. We were a little terrified and dissapointed with all the traffic and people on the drive here from the airport, but it was a pleasant surprise to turn the corner at Pupukea and head up a lush, scenic road that was sooo private!! The grandeur of the view on that drive every day multiple times is nearly enough to bring me back to the beauty and hospitality of North Shore country and the Beschen Family property.
I felt like we had struck the jackpot on this little jem because it was really a PERFECT home base spot to relax after many fun adventures. Our favorite snorkel spot HANDS DOWN was Shark's Cove, and this property allowed great off times at that spot because of how CLOSE it is. I could go on and on about this location and it's close proximity to many great sights, tastes, and places.
It was very nice to arrive and find some food staples already there in the kitchen and fridge. The fresh-picked pineapple and mountain apples left by the hostess was very thoughtful. In addition, we were able to borrow a couple surfboards that provided a ton of fun. The Apple TV with some pre-loaded movies was a nice perk as well.
Overall, we are so grateful to have such a budget and family friendly place to stay on our 7 day trip to Oahu. This property allowed for us to truly get a feel for the beautiful North country while making memories that will last forever. The only two areas of improvement I would suggest would be to have enough chairs and enough dressers for all to use. There were a lot of short stools, but when all eight of us tried to have dinner together at one table, it was tricky. We had to bring stools out of the bedrooms where they were being used as suitcase holders.
We will definitely stay here again.
Loving the authentic Pupekea experience!
We usually stay by the beach on the North Shore and this was our first time staying up the hill in Pupukea. It’s just about a 5 minute drive down the hill to the ocean but the air was nice and cool on the mountain. We also loved this neighborhood! It was so spacious and quiet and all the properties are very beautiful. It also felt much more safe than the beach rentals and we loved parking within the property gates. The property itself was so peaceful and the grounds were gorgeous. The home accommodated our party of 8 nicely and had everything we needed. The owners were friendly and helpful.
Pros and Cons
So many great things about this property: The location was wonderful in a quiet, lush, peaceful neighborhood on the north shore.
This house accommodated our large family with plenty of beds.
The owners were nice and left us to ourselves.
The beach mats, umbrella, and sand toys were great to use. The beach chair was pretty rusty. We didn't use them, but the bikes looked great to use.
I appreciated items in the kitchen and having laundry soap provided with a washer and dryer just outside the house (a cookie sheet would be a great thing to add!).
Some things that need to be improved on: when we arrived there were tiny little ants on the kitchen counters and in the master bedroom. This lasted throughout our stay though we cleaned up after ourselves in the kitchen. We would all brush off our beds to make sure there weren't any bugs before we went to bed each night. One son put on mosquito spray every night before bed. :)
The hallway bathroom room door didn't lock. The drains in both bathrooms were extremely slow.
There are two standup fans for the house. With four bedrooms, it would have been nice to have an additional two standup fans or ceiling fans in every bedroom. On the sunny days, the bedrooms without standup fans were slightly uncomfortable to sleep in (temperature-wise).
All in all, we appreciated the house and it was a wonderful week in HAWAII!
We stay 12days. nice location and great tropical garden.
We will stay next year again. Thank you!
We are 2.4 miles away from the beach on the mountain just above Waimea Valley. It's very central because Foodland Grocery Store, The Coffee Bean and all the shops and eateries are just a 6 minute drive down Pupukea Road. Pupukea Road is a residential rode that never has traffic. Waimea Bay is also just down the road. Pipeline is about ten minutes to the east while Chuns Reef and Laniakea (The famous Turtle Beach) are about ten minutes to the west. Haleiwa town is 7 miles away.
