Why Walter & Linda Bujak chose Michigan

This property is amazing! It has 750 feet of very accessible riverfront property. A perfect swimming area. Rapids to give you that special I am on a river sound. A deep fishing hole out front that produces amazing catches of all kinds of different species of fish. Abundant wildlife to watch and witness. Simply amazing!

What makes this cottage unique

Most vacation rentals (over 95%) are on lakes with houses very close to each other. Not many vacation rentals on rivers. We call it the River House due to the fantastic views of the river from inside the house. While standing in the middle of the house looking north, you will see the Thornapple river from every single window, west, north, and east.

A highlight of the summer for our family!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed here 3 consecutive summers. Each visit has been a highlight of the season. And was requested by our grandchildren.

The setting is beautiful, accommodations clean, well maintained, and every provision makes The River House completely family friendly.

Hosts Wally and Linda are wonderful. Both are welcoming, thoughtful, responsive, and accessible. Thank you for another good visit!

A wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I stayed here and we can't begin to say how much we loved it. The house was very unique and lovely. It was very clean and you had everything at your disposal. It was well stocked. The grounds and the river were beautiful. We sat out by the river and watched the wildlife go about their business. We even had the pleasure of seeing a bald eagle fly by. It was very peaceful. It is also a good place to make a home base for sightseeing. While we were there we went to Meijer Gardens and The Gilmore Car Museum. Both places were not far from the cottage. We will certainly go there again, in fact we already made a reservation for next year. We can't wait to go back.

Wonderfully fun and relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the river house for a week this August and it was beautiful. We celebrated birthdays and anniversaries for some friends of ours during our stay and had a wonderful time. The house was clean and cozy. The river was fantastic! We enjoyed tubing and watching all of the wildlife on the river. I look forward to coming back for another incredible vacation.

Beautiful property, Excellent hosts

  • 3 of 5

Truly enjoyed our stay. The river was peaceful and beautiful (floating on innertubes from the park is a must do). Wally was helpful and attentive (even got us a new coffee maker!). One wish would be for the house to be updated a bit. We recognize it is a cottage and it was clean but much of the inside is dated and could use a bit of modernization in the kitchen and bath. The inside doesn't match the view outside. Fully enjoyed the beautiful weather and yard.

Customer service is our highest priority and we do try to make our guests feel right at home will visiting with us!

  • 5 of 5

I had my family (6 adults and two children), not all at the same time, stay with us throughout the Memorial Day weekend. The house is a very nice and location is peaceful and quite setting nestled next to the Thornapple River. We had a GREAT Stay.

Thanks Linda & Wally!

My definition of peace...

  • 5 of 5

The only thing our family doesn’t enjoy about the River House is leaving it. We LOVE our annual family getaway! From our fish catching competition mornings, (67 last season, large, small mouth, rock bass, pike, catfish, you name it) kayak, canoeing, and tubing, afternoons - to our campfire stories and s’mores - this is our family recharge. And, then the children sleep…

Every year I think we’re going to take advantage of the not-too-far from the fabulous shopping and culture aspect the location provides. Yet; every year, we enjoy the peaceful retreat aspect - too much to wander. I actually see…the faces of my sons. My three sons don’t plug in their PS4! SERIOUSLY! Not that they can’t, WIFI is provided, but...they don’t. Maybe this year we’ll have a rainy day.

The first year – I overpacked. The cottage, (especially the kitchen) is so well appointed that I needed very little of my girl scout readiness. The hosts are exceptional - friendly and welcoming, but not intrusive. If sitting on that deck with a mug of coffee, (or a glass of wine) under the Mulberry tree, bird watching while listening to that beautiful river, doesn’t relax you…nothing will.

Nature lovers, Sport, Relaxation, Soul restoration, Family time, Culture, Sightseeing, Girls getaway, Adventure seekers, Romantic getaway. Honestly, I can't imagine to whom I wouldn't recommend this property.
