Just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful stay at your house. The picture in your ad looks a lot further from the beach than what it was. We were pleasantly surprised at how close it was. You have a wonderful house, thank you for sharing it with us. I'm sure we will be back next year.
It is a great family get away! Everything we needed was available. However, it would be so much nicer if the decor theme was updated!
This property was extremely dirty when we arrived. The bathtubs were so filthy that I would not have bathed in them. The bedding was dirty and sandy. The air conditioning unit did not work properly and the home was very hot all week. I am guessing the unit is too small for the home. There is a hole in the wall where the furnace filter is supposed to be in the hallway taped on with duct tape, and hot air was also coming from out of there. The picture of the bunk bed room is deceiving. The room is no bigger than a walk in closet and has no television. Not more than one person can stay in that room comfortably because there is not enough space for more than one person's things. We had 7 people in our party and when we arrived there were only 4 towels. We called the owner who referred us to his management company. People came out and cleaned the house and brought more towels, but they did not clean it well. You could not walk in the house barefoot without the bottom of your feet getting dirty and sandy. We were so grossed out that I purchased Pine Sol and vacuumed and mopped myself. There is an apartment sized washer and dryer which is not big enough when you have laundry for seven, plus beach towels. During our stay two of my teenagers came into the kitchen one evening and showed me bites on their arms. Hilton Head is notorious for bug bites at night, so I assumed that is what it was since my teens spent a lot of time on the beach at night. A few days after we returned home I discovered that we had bed bugs. I do not think that is a coincidence. I am 41 years old and have been vacationing in Hilton Head since I was 10 years old. We rent a house here every summer. This is by far the most run down and dirty home I have ever stayed in. I do not mind dated décor, (which this décor is outdated and not attractive) but I do mind filth. The quality of the bedding is not good. If I had rented from a realty company such as Vacation Company, I would have demanded to move to another property. When you rent on vrbo.com, you do not have that option. You are stuck there- so we tried making the best of it. The best thing about the house is the pool. It is also very close to Coligny, which is good. I am not trying to bash this home or the owner, but he needs to get down there and take a look at this property before he rents it out anymore. He also needs to have the mattresses checked and replaced- they probably have bugs.
All and all we enjoyed our stay. The house was just the right size for us and the proximity to the beach was great. However, when we arrived, the pool area was very sandy and full of debris, and the outside furniture needed cleaning (but really should be replaced). There was also trash in the yard between the two houses. The spa and heater did not function properly upon arrival. We contacted the owner who arranged for a repair during our stay (which took a few days), and he refunded a portion of the fee for the spa heat. The comforter on the king sized bed was dirty (pet hair and questionable stains). The blankets in the nearest closet were not clean either. Other minor issues--one of the lamps and the alarm clock in the master bedroom were broken, and one of the lampshades in the living room was repaired with masking tape and is dire need of replacement. With a little TLC this would be an outstanding place to stay in Hilton Head. The house is within waking distance to Coligny Square and bike trails. Renting bikes is a great idea; we biked the entire way around the island and enjoyed it immensely.
This is a great house, great location and the owners are awesome.
The title says it all. There were three generations from ther 60s down to 6 years of age and we all had a wonderful time in the pool, the beach and the surrounding area. The house was as advertised and the accommodations were wonderful. We hope to be able to get back to the same location next year.
