Was fine for our needs. Could use some closet space. Had a great time with the kayaks provided.
Just what we expected
Cute Florida home with lots of manatee personality. Had everything we needed for a 3 night stay and the location was great. Thank you!
A great place for a villa. Right on the canal and just round the corner from the Homosassa Springs.
The kayaks were good to have and we saw manatees near the springs
It was fun as well fishing off the dock and we caught a lot of fish.
The house is comfortable and functional with room for four people.
It is in a peaceful location with very little traffic noise.
Kayaking, fishing and manatees!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was very clean and the kitchen well equipped. Gas grill worked great, as did the washer and dryer. We really enjoyed the kayaks - we were out every morning and saw manatees twice. We used the fishing pole in the laundry room and added some tackle for the next folks. Some advice - plan to cook at home at least a few nights. The restaurants in the area are at best mediocre. The back deck and screen porch make eating in very pleasant! There were two weird things about the house: 1. Not a coat hanger in the place and no clothes closets: and 2. No screens in any windows. We like having windows open, but the lack of screens ( even in one or two windows) made this unwise. Overall, our experience was very positive. We would definitely come back.
Location can't be beat. House is great. A few little things would make it 5 stars.
The good: Manatees right off the dock in the backyard. Kayaks in the backyard for our use. Fishing pole in the laundry room for our use! Located within a 5-minute walk to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park (fantastic!!). Also a short drive to The Freezer- feel like a local and have scrumptious peel and eat shrimp and clam chowder in a bread bowl. Publix is a 3-minute drive from the house. House has basics. Outdoor grill and fire pit are very nice.
The not so great: Someone came into the backyard and stacked our kayaks while we were gone- and they weren't in anyone's way and they weren't in danger of falling into the water or anything. The neighbor lets his dogs poop in the backyard of the rental. Area is strangely and rather eeriely non-diverse, just mentioning this so no POCs are surprised.
The ugly: The mattresses in the extra room- I would have given this house 5 stars if I had been able to sleep. Tried the regular bed first, then the bunkbed, and then the couch. If you replace a couple of mattresses, the house would be pretty perfect. As I was packing to leave on the last day, I spotted an air mattress in the bedroom closet which could have improved the sleeping issues- so now you, reader, know it's there.
We appreciate your comments and love the 5 stars, so I will have to consider the mattresses. They are not old, but none of them are extra firm which is what some people prefer, the air mattress is best, the closets do not have doors, so it is should be easy to spot. I suspect the lawn care maintenance crew stacked the kayaks, sorry about that, but the neighbors will hear from us about the dog poop!
Citrus County is as diverse as any other tourist destination. The houses are managed by Bird's Underwater Dive Center which takes people out to snorkel with the manatees, fish and scallop. We are incredibly diverse when it comes to color and country. People come here from all over the world, all ages, all colors, all are welcome and encouraged to enjoy Citrus County!
Wonderful location, comfortable and cosy.
Perfectly located on the water. We paddled to the nearby Homasassa springs natural wildlife park on the kayaks provided on site just before sunset.little did we know how interactive these gentle giants are when new playmates arrive in their playground. We were surrounded by several and one actually put his flipper on our kayak so he could turn over for a tummy rub.
The home is very clean and basic but adequate for a vacation.
Would highly recommend this property.
