Our family bought this house after Hurricane Katrina sent us north for a couple of years. We loved it, and decided to keep it for summers. We hope to someday move here permanently.
Owner purchased this House in 2006
Why Owner chose Hill City
Proximity to downtown Hill City, but still feels woodsy. We love the burgeoning arts scene in Hill City, as well as the small town feel. Swimming in the lakes, fishing, hiking and biking the trails are favorite summer past times.
What makes this House unique
This home has a great view of downtown, and yet deer walk by the window in the early morning and evening. We love the open great room, with the catwalk crossing overhead. We love that it is comfortable both for adults and children. The fireplace when it is cool/cold is lovely.

Clean, Roomy, Convenient
The house was great and very roomy. There was an attachment on the bathroom downstairs and the water would barely come out. We removed the attachment and the water was fine.
THe property needs yard work done and a handrail for the bottom 2 stairs.
The driveway could use a little attention.
Overall it was a nice, clean place and everything you needed was there.
Great house, great owner!
We typically have stayed in hotels when we have visited the Mt Rushmore area. We decided to rent a house instead. It was very comfortable and was a great place to come back to every night. The owner was great to work with. Thanks again!
Great location and home
Very nice home in a great location. Walking distance to groceries and downtown. Not much for a yard if you were looking to play yard games
The house was nice and clean. There is only 1 tv and no WiFi.
The main issue is with todays technology, this house needs WiFi. Even though we were on vacation, we needed to access work and had to do so using our cell phones. There is a problem with the downstairs shower and the own is aware of it because they had installed a rubber hand held sprayer like you would use for bathing a baby. Not enough pressure for an adult to use to shower with. But the house was clean and it was nice.
Feels likes a second home!
Great quiet location and home has all the room and comfort need for 3 couples! Plan to stay there again in very near future!
Beautiful home in a great location!
We were very happy with this beautiful Hill City rental home. It is clean and well furnished and stocked with linens and kitchen utensils. The furniture is modern and comfortable, and the fixtures and appliances are nice and in good working order. Other reviewers had complaints about the beds being squeaky and uncomfortable, but we didn't have that issue - the bed in the master bedroom was very nice, and I didn't hear any complaints from the rest of my family about their beds. The layout is very open and spacious but also allows for guests to go into a separate room for a little privacy if needed. It is located in a quiet neighborhood with a nice view of the town and 1880 Train yard. All of the local attractions are within easy driving distance, and there is a grocery store only minutes away. The only disappointment was the lack of an internet connection at the house, which I think in this era is not so much of a luxury as a necessity. There are public places nearby which offer free wifi; however, this was inconvenient. We survived without it, but would very much like to see it added as a feature to the property. In all, this was a very nice house to come "home" to after a long day of touring the Black Hills and I would definitely rent it again in the future.
