Wine Country Cottage with View, Pool & Hot Tub

Bedrooms Studio
Space 725 sq ft
Property type studio
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Spacious studio guest house near Sebastopol with great views, pool and hot tub

This stylish and spacious guest house with full kitchen is tucked away on a small county lane in a quiet rural neighborhood just outside of town. The cottage has large picture windows expansive views of the mountains across the valley and is on an acre of charming gardens filled with pathways and flowers.

Inside your private cottage

High vaulted ceilings and the large windows with views create a welcoming open feeling. The cottage is 725 square feet, which is larger than many of the other guest houses available here. It's creatively decorated with an upscale arty vibe, sort of country bohemian meets hipster wine country.

There is a super-comfortable queen size bed and a couch that folds into a full size mattress, fitting 3, possibly 4.

There is a full kitchen with sink and counters, a full size fridge, microwave oven, toaster oven, and everything else you need to cook yourself or bring back food from local restaurants and grocery stores.

There is a brand new 50 inch Smart 4K flat screen TV with lots of free channels. Plus you can login to your Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, Showtime, CBS All Access and any streaming TV site account.

You’ll be greeted with fresh cut flowers, organic orange juice, a bowl of local organic fruit and some of my fresh baked banana bread.

Almost an Acre of Gardens with Pool and Hot Tub

Outside the french doors, wander the pathway through the garden to the pool area that is surrounded by climbing roses. There is a deck with a view and a large 8-person hot tub that is always on at just the right temperature. Just the perfect thing after a day of wine tasting or exploring the Sonoma coast. The deck also has a fire pit with firewood if you would like to have a fire.

On warm days you are welcome to eat out on the tables in pool area. There are chaise lounges with umbrellas for relaxing in the sun by the pool. The pool area is shared with the main house but there is a hedge between the house and the pool area so it is visually private. I am occasionally in the pool area on the weekends in the summer but I am happy to let my guests enjoy their privacy and keep to themselves. The pool area is large enough that even if I’m out there too, there is still plenty of room for you to have your own space. And I am not out there nearly as much as my guests are.

Guest Interaction

I respect your privacy and leave you to your own during your stay but I am always available if you need anything at all.

Everything You Will Need

The bed linens and duvets are 100% cotton high thread count designer sheets and pillow cases. There is a hi-quality blow dryer and flat iron available.

There is an umbrella just in case you need one as well.

My two friendly hound dogs live on the property but aren't allowed in the cottage.

There are some vineyards in this neighborhood as well which is a nice reminder that you are in the wine country.

About The Owner

I live in Sebastopol with my 20 year old daughter (part time) who attends college and our two peaceful hounds. I own an independent record label that produces new age, world music and electronica plus other online businesses.

I enjoy hosting people from around the world and providing a serene home base for them to explore the wine country or to just get some relaxation.

I have been renting out the cottage for short-term rentals for about 4 years. I am a top rated host on other sites but I am new to VRBO.

The Owner purchased this studio in 1999

Why The Owner chose Sebastopol

I originally moved here from Southern California to raise my daughter in less congested place and chose Sebastopol because it's a great community with lots of artists, musicians and artisans.

What makes this studio unique

I loved this property the first time I saw it because it was just far enough out of town while still being really close. I also loved how private the property was and how it have great views out across Santa Rosa to the mountains from both the main house, guest house and pool area. Over the years I planted extensive gardens and I continue to plant more every year. I never stop improving this property and I particularly enjoy making the gardens very abundant with lots of flowers.

Puyallup, WA

Scenic spot, great location, very private

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed her for a week for our honeymoon, and we loved it. Steve was the picture of hospitality; he made sure the pool was available whenever we wanted it, but was also very respectful of our privacy. I would not think twice about booking this a second time.

Perfect Northern CA Vibe

  • 5 of 5

This is the most perfect place to stay for peace, quiet, and accessibility to great things to do and see in the Sebastopol area.

We had a bit of GPS challenge getting to the cottage, but when I phoned Steve he guided us there and even came out to meet us and make sure we arrived. We could not have asked for a more kind and caring host!

The cottage is sweet, one big room with kitchen, living area, and sleeping space. It gives off the NO CAL vibe that we were looking for when we decided to visit centered, funky, and full of fun. We had dinner in town (only 5 minutes’ drive away) our first night at the Woodfour Brewery. We then enjoyed some time in the lovely hot tub on the property.

Our next day was spent at the Point Reyes National Seashore, hiking and exploring the area. Spectacular! Dinner that night was at a place Steve recommended, K&L Bistro, wonderful meal.

Steve brought us a freshly baked loaf of almond bread as soon as we arrived... I usually swear off bread but hey, almonds are GOOD for you, right? It was delish, we even took the last bit of it home and are enjoying it here for breakfast in Maryland! Steve has made his cottage so cozy and welcoming... and has little “notices” around the rooms to let us know how to navigate the simple “quirks” of his country cottage.

As fellow VRBO-ers, we very much appreciate all that goes into the operation of hosting guests, and Steve is right up there with the kindest of hosts. We are so glad we decided to choose his cottage for our vacation.

We stayed at the country cottage for 4 days and enjoyed this retreat. It is close to everything but tucked away down a country lane. The cottage was very clean and stocked with all the things we needed. Steve our host is very helpful. We even had a fresh loaf of banana nut bread waiting us when we arrived ( great with coffee in the morning). We highly recommend staying here and will put this as our number one choice when we are in the area.
