We had a great time at your cottage! The place was exactly as described and in a wonderful location. Gus provided us with all the information and snorkeling gear we asked for and couldn't have been more helpful. Highly recommend this place for your stay! Thanks guys!!
Beautiful relaxing getaway!
If you want to getaway from the hustle and bustle of the big resorts and just relax..this is the place. The views from lanai are breathtaking. We absolutely loved sipping our morning coffee watching the dolphins play in the bay. A perfect home base to explore the island and enjoy the different beaches of the big island. We made sure we were back in the afternoons for the picturesque sunsets each evening. The cottage is exactly what we wanted to feel the old Hawaiian charm. The cottage is very clean and has everything you could possibly need. Gus and Uncle Ed were the perfect hosts. They make you feel like family and answer any questions about places and things to do on the island. This was out second trip to the Big Island and it is by far my favorite of the Hawaiian islands. We will return every chance we get and plan on staying right here again and again. Thank you Gus for the perfect getaway!
This is an amazing spot for a couple on the Big Island! It is even more beautiful than the pictures can show. The bedroom is the only space walled in, kitchen, sitting areas, bathroom are all outside under the expansive roof. We loved it!!! We sat with our coffee every morning and a bottle of wine every night gazing out at the ocean. The cottage had everything we needed for a very relaxing stay. It was awesome to sleep with the windows open and listen to the ocean and the night noises in the trees. And the pillows! Best I've ever slept on.( Please tell me the brand) Plenty of activities are around the Captain Cook area, if you can drag yourself away from the cottage. Great snorkeling near by, even for the inexperienced. Gear and chairs look new and not some cast off junk you might find at some rentals. There are boggie boards too so that you can enjoy the big waves of the swimmable beaches north of Kona. Mike and Gus were great hosts. The bottle of wine waiting on the deck at our arrival was a very welcoming touch, thank you. The brothers are rehabbing a large home on the property and it looks amazing. We may have to come back and enjoy the place with kids and grandkids:) We were not ready to leave.
My husband and I found paradise! This is one of the best vacations we have ever had. The view is amazing and we enjoyed our morning breakfast and evening dinners from the balcony watching the dolphins and whales in the bay below. We are not the big resort type of folks and enjoy quiet and serene settings. We rented kayaks about 2 minutes down the road and swam with a huge pod of dolphins! Captain Cook Monument and Two Step are minutes away and are some of the best snorkeling on the island. The view from the bedroom is incredible and it was the best we have slept in a very long time. You feel like you are in a tree house as the birds are singing. The kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked breakfast and dinner most days at the house. We stopped by Costco when we landed and then stopped by the Farmer's market in Captain Cook to stock up. We enjoyed a great dinner on our last night at Keei Cafe which is about 10 minutes away. We went shopping in downtown Kona but found the shops near Captain Cook to be outstanding...in particular Choice Mart where we bought fresh Mahi Mahi for the grill. The only downside to my experience was being stung by Jelly Fish on the day before we left....I would recommend wearing a long sleeve rash guard shirt to protect yourself just in case. We can't wait to come back!
Everything and More!
The property is truly amazing! The view from the bedroom and deck is priceless. You can see the Captain Cook monument and bay as you sip your morning coffee. Gus is awesome and gave us tips on local restaurants and even secret beaches known only to the locals. Our only disappointment was having to leave.
Spectacular view, comfort and all amenities wonderful, extraordinary old island open air feeling.
We enjoyed every minute of this beautiful place. From the ocean view facing front deck to the airy island bath house, to the well stocked outdoor kitchen, to the feeling of being in a tree house, we have been utterly pleased and impressed. We can’t wait to return again soon!! Our hosts were welcoming and helpful and treated us as if we were part of their ohana. We are very appreciative and happy and give big thanks.
