great place to hang out
We had a great visit to this beautiful spot in South Kona. Gus was incredibly helpful in steering us to local spots to snorkel and kayak. Serene site up the hill - great place to grill for dinner and watch the sunset. Appreciated the snorkel equipment waiting for us.
Perfect Place for Enjoying Beautiful Hawaiian Nature
We stayed from May 9-13th. Right away when we arrived we knew we had made a great choice. Everything was just as in the photos, very clean and very comfortable. We're usually really active on our vacations and spend most of our time exploring, but this place actually made us decide to take one full day just to stay put, relax and enjoy the scenery. Like the other reviews mention, Gus was really quick to get back to us with all of our questions or requests. The place feels very private. The surroundings are planted with so many attractive flowering bushes, trees and plants I couldn't stop taking photos! We really liked getting groceries for dinner at the nearby ChoiceMART. Plenty of tasty options for BBQing while watching the sunset. I should mention its important to be comfortable with nature when staying here. While we didn't ever see any startling insects inside our bedroom, you might see a few outside. The geckos everywhere were delightful and I wish I could have taken them home with me! When we come back to the Big Island we will definitely like to return here. Thank you Michael and Gus for setting up such a fun place and sharing it with us!
We spent our honeymoon in Hawaii and stayed here for 9 nights. The views are simply breathtaking and the sunsets over Kealakekua Bay...you just can't beat them! Waking up every day to the sounds of a Hawaiian rain forest was incredible. We loved having coffee on the lanai while watching the dolphins in the water below. And the "main drag" for hotels/bars/restaurants is only about 20 minutes north of here. The water is TWO minutes away!
All living spaces were clean and in great condition. The open layout for the cottage was fun and very private. You may share your showers with a few geckos, but they're no bother. Andrew, our "host" and contact in the main house, was very responsive, helpful, and friendly. Several recreational items were available for us to use, including snorkel gear, beach chairs, boogie boards, and paddle boards.
We would definitely stay here, in this exact place, again and again. If you're considering staying here, book it! We LOVED it!
This spot is amazing!
We absolutely loved staying here.
Impressiv view, feeling like being part of the nature, everything great, we come back!
Staying here was a little like staying in a tree house with a chorus of bird song. We spent a lot of time perched at the lanai reading and looking at the great view over Kealakekua Bay. The bed is very comfortable, and walking out to the bathroom in the night was really not a hassle. Open air cooking was nice with Pikaki flowers and Tahitian gardenia blooming right in the kitchen area. Make sure that you visit the Keauhou Farmers Market on Saturday morning. We rented a kayak and paddled over to the far side of the bay for outstanding snorkeling. All around, a very relaxing time.
