About Ashley and Marcus Mattila

We own a 4400 square foot Fine Art Gallery here in South Lake Tahoe, and because of this I know how important 'details' are to creating a wonderful experience. I have worked hard making 'Towering Pines Lodge' a retreat for your next vacation to South Lake Tahoe. This house is perfect for a couple or you can fill every pillow to the max, 9 people. Either way, for the price, I can not imagine what else you would need to make your vacation better. We often place our World Famous Artist's at 'Towering Pines Lodge' so the house is loaded with more Ameninites than most, and because we have the gallery, of course, there is wonderful Artwork throughout. Our house is clean, casual, cozy and perfect for your next vacation:) Enough about our house!!

Ashley and Marcus Mattila purchased this house in 1994

Why Ashley and Marcus Mattila chose Lake Tahoe South Shore CA

It is loaded with everything you need for a vacation! You can Cross Country Ski, Bike, Hike or Snow Shoe right here, out our back door - without driving. Our neighborhood is wonderful. We are in the forest and we live on a deadend street, but we are only a short drive to the Casinos, Heavenly, Stateline, NV.

The private hot-tub is the newest edition to Towering Pines Lodge. Imagine yourself in the dark of night with 1000's of stars sparkling above, in silence all while sitting in 104 degree, bubbling water. Ahhhh, so sweet:)

There are many US Forest Service trails at the end of the street to the Best Beaches of Tahoe, Fallen Leak Lake, Camp Richardson, and the Beacon. In the winter there is even a groomed track for snow shoeing and cross country skiing.

What makes this house unique

It is rare to find a house like ours for this price. The house is loaded with all the comforts to make your vacation wonderful. The house is super, super Cozy AND Clean which is a tough find for a South Lake Tahoe vacation rentals. Many of our clients have rented our house over and over again.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hello Ashley,

Sorry for the late response! I wanted to thank you so much for letting us use your beautiful home! It was the first time my family celebrated Christmas somewhere else besides my parents house in 28 years. Everyone was so pleased with the house and they are already talking about their next trip to Tahoe. Your house had everything we needed and things we didn't know we needed making my families trip so relaxing. My father owns a furniture store and wanted me to tell you that if you are ever in need he would love to trade furniture for another stay (fully understanding that it would exclude holidays). Again thank you so much for everything and thank you for waiving the dog fee, that was very sweet of you!!

Have a great day!!

A great find!

  • 5 of 5

This house provided everything we needed. It had ample room for a group of 8, including 4 bedrooms and 3 showers. Having a hot tub onsite was nice. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen I've seen in a vacation rental.

Another big plus is the location. It's right off 89, so you don't have to drive through the middle of South Lake Tahoe to get there from the west. It's also walking distance from a great taqueria and very close to Pope Beach and Emerald Bay.

Stunning stay!

  • 5 of 5

Where do i start? Our family vacation was so wonderful, such a great experience for all of us. The home was so clean, so well stocked, very spacious. The large yard was a blast to play with the dogs and kids, while also soaking in the hot tub or doing a nice bbq and dinner on the large porch. Having the large garage was a bonus to put all of our gear from the beach, and to just use as some storage out of the main house. Having a large capacity washer and dryer was really nice. The kitchen was stocked with all types of spices and every pan/pot/utensil you could imagine, was there. I only needed to contact the owners a couple of times before our stay, to just firm up on details. Each time, they responded within an hour or so, i was very impressed. Not once did we have an issue during our full week stay, but i know if we did, they would of been at the door step in no time. We have already committed to renting this same home for our family vacation again next summer. So awesome, great memories for our family and we cant thank you enough for proving us with such a great vacation rental. We truly appreciate everything and we look forward to coming back.

We found the neighborhood quiet and beautiful because it is in a forested area. We were there for a wedding and the location was very convenient to the wedding venue as well as to beaches and Lake Tahoe attractions. We wish we could have stayed longer and hope to vacation with you again.

Tahoe Family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the house with family for a family reunion at Camp Richardson. The location is perfect for getting to the campground, beaches and even downtown Tahoe. We had 7 adults and 2 children staying together. There was plenty of room and everyone was very comfortable. The house does not have air conditioning but we didn't ever feel uncomfortable. Ashley was very nice and helpful. Any problems we did have, she was quick to solve. I would love to stay here again.
