About this property
Historic Cabin with Spectacular Views! Full Kitchen, Walk into RMNP #20-NCD0303
Our historic, updated and cozy cabin makes a great retreat and base of operations for exploring the Rocky Mountains and the Estes Valley. Come experience the majesty of Rocky Mountain National Park, the abundance of elk, and the quaint village of Estes Park!
Awesome views of the Rocky Mountains and wildlife wandering through the front yard are yours from this clean and comfortable, vintage cabin. Conveniently located less than a mile from the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance and within a mile from the heart of downtown Estes Park, you can come home after a fun day of hiking, shopping, or exploring and relax in the spacious living room by the wood-burning moss-rock fireplace (you can purchase firewood bundles from nearby Safeway or Ace hardware). The living room also has two cozy leather couches, leather chair with ottoman, coffee table, elk horn chandelier, flat screen TV with Amazon Firestick to access your own streaming subscriptions, DVD player, and wireless Internet service. We have added fur pillows and fur throw blankets in the living room -- we think you’ll love curling up on the leather couches with these!
The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for meal preparation (including a new Samsung full-sized stainless four-burner stove/oven, refrigerator, quiet new Bosch stainless dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and basic coffee supplies, toaster, pots and pans, crockpot, dishes, glassware, cooking utensils, silverware, spices, trash bags and linens) with an adjacent dining area. The dining table seats 6 people comfortably.
Kick back on the Adirondack chairs on the front deck and soak up the views of Long's Peak, Mt. Meeker, Twin Sisters and more.
One bedroom on the main level has a queen bed with down comforter, plenty of closet space, walls finished with knotty pine and windows for a great view of the mountains. Custom-made Murphy bed with brand new double mattress in the living room sleeps two more. There is also a twin bed in an alcove off the living room.
One full bath with tub/shower and plenty of towels provided. The bathroom is stocked with a travel-sized hairdryer, small sample sizes of soaps and lotions, etc. We provide a few rolls of toilet paper, a roll of paper towels, several dinner napkins and a box of tissues to get you started, but you may need to buy more paper products depending on the length of your stay.
Laundry room has a brand-new Samsung washer and dryer. We provide laundry detergent for a couple of wash loads, but you may need to buy more soap during your stay. There is also a travel-sized ironing board, an iron and cleaning supplies stored in the cupboards above the washer and dryer.
We keep in the living room closet a portable crib with fitted sheets and blankets, a highchair and a back-pack style child carrier for your use at no additional charge.
Enjoy your mountain get-away in a comfortable, rustic cabin nestled at the base of 14,000-foot peaks. Gorgeous mountain views and wildlife such as elk, coyote, deer and rabbit are yours for year-round viewing from the cabin. We provide you with recommendations for hikes, activities and restaurants here in Estes Park, and we also keep maps and brochures in the cabin for your reference.
Get outside and go hiking on one of the numerous RMNP trails on both sides of the Continental Divide with our convenient location as your home base. Great shopping, live music, festivals, wineries/breweries and art venues are located downtown and at the newly renovated event center. We have all the cook- and serve-ware you need to prepare your meals and relax at home. For those of you who prefer not to cook, we can recommend a lovely meal at one of Estes Park's wide range of restaurants.
In summer and fall, RMNP boasts world-class hiking and climbing as well as golfing, boating, fishing, biking, horseback riding, river-rafting, mini golf, aerial tram, mountain coaster and many more downtown and Estes Valley attractions. Our area also offers winter sports such as snow shoeing/hiking, back-country skiing, sledding, and ice skating here in RMNP and Estes Park, plus downhill skiing at nearby Eldora Mountain Resort (about 1.5 hours away).
RMNP is OPEN with a timed entry reservation between approx. May 25 through October 22 each year. Visit www.recreation.gov for exact dates and times that timed entry is in effect and to purchase timed entry reservations ($2 per vehicle). Daily fee or annual pass is also required for entry.
We have posted a few of the many reviews from our guest books kept in the cabin, and we encourage online reviews from all of our guests. We continually strive for a 5-star rating from each customer, and we are very grateful to have such special guests come from all over the country to visit. We would love for every guest to feel that their stay at our cabin is an enjoyable and memorable one!

Cabin is very cozy and very close to RMNP entrance. We really enjoyed the fireplace and the view from the cabin. Hosts were very responsive and description was accurate. Felt like we were far away from everything, but only minutes from Downtown. We will definitely stay here again.
My Wife and I stayed here 3 nights in November. Weather was surprisingly warmer then normal, but very windy. Cabin had everything we needed and the hosts were very accommodating. We saw mule deer and bald eagles daily at the property and heard coyotes right outside the bedroom window! We would definitely stay again.
Great stay. No complaints at all. As listed. Very clean. Would recommend to family. Saw lots of wildlife. Great proximity to the park and town. A. Host was great with communication
Comfortable, clean and we found the location great to RMNP and Estes Park . We wanted for nothing except to stay longer . Hosts easy to communicate with - quick responses. Hope to return and enjoy again !
We had a fabulous time at the historic Wallace cabin. It was very convenient to the park, restaurants, fishing, hiking and just relaxing in the spacious home. The host was lovely and even brought us treats and firewood. We had a little snow while we visited. The snow, however, closed down most of Trail Ridge Road.
Love this cabin, beautiful view of the rockies right out of the bay window. The cabin is very comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners are great to rent from and quick to respond with any questions.
I just can't say enough how wonderful our stay was at the Historic Wallace cabin! We enjoyed tremendous views from the cabin that overlooked Long's Peak and surrounding mountain ranges! We enjoyed all the amenities with our favorite being the fireplace! Over the course of the 8 nights we were there we used the kitchen extensively and had many beautiful evenings eating while enjoying the view. The location was perfect! Spending many days in Rocky Mountain National Park we enjoyed the convenience of being SO close to the entrance.I found Pamela to be generous and thoughtful! I never had to wait on her availability for reply's to my questions. She is a host with the most! :)
Excellent cabin close to downtown Estes Park, but away from the "hustle & bustle". Pamela was easy and wonderful to communicate with. Had everything we needed (dinnerware, pack n play, hiking backpack, toys, books) for traveling with two young children (6 & 2 years). Would stay again in a heartbeat.
The view of the mountains from the cabin is spectacular. The cabin is spacious and cozy and comfortable. The access to RMNP is 4 minutes away and downtown Estes Park is a quick drive. What more can I say!
Inviting and cozy cabin with huge living room. Very clean and well equipped. Didn't even have to leave the property to see three bull elk and four mule deer. Fantastic views and close access to the Beaver Meadows entrance to RMNP. Pam was a kind and responsive owner. We couldn't be happier. We plan to stay here again in the future.
Great Cabin with Wonderful Location to the Rockies.
Great place with lots and lots of little extras - lots of space and comfort and just a very few minutes to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park - close to 5 as she said.
The cabin was very comfortable and convenient to downtown and Rocky Mountain National Park.

About the host
Hosted by Pamela Wallace
Proudly accommodating vacationers at our historic cabin in Estes Park, the Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, since 2007!!
We are recent empty nesters, having raised our two children here year-round (a boy 23 years old and a girl 20 years old both now attending university), we are still living year-round in Estes Park. We love the grandeur and beauty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and the abundance of wildlife in this part of Colorado. We never get used to seeing the herds of elk, Rocky Mountain sheep, moose, mule deer, rabbits, coyote, bear, snow-capped mountains, rivers full of snow melt, wildflowers and aspens in all their seasonal colors. We love to share in the natural beauty with visitors from nearby and from far away.
Why they chose this property
This location has truly amazing mountain views of Long's Peak, Mt. Meeker, Twin Sisters and the Continental Divide. It is also surrounded by open space, bordered by Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) land, close to the Big Thompson River and provides excellent year-round opportunities for viewing wildlife right outside in the front yard, including herds of elk, deer, coyote, rabbit, badger, birds, and even the occasional bear. The proximity to the Rocky Mountain National Park (less than 1 mile to the park entrance) and downtown Estes Park (about a mile to the heart of town) make this a perfect mountain getaway for adventurous exploring or pampered relaxation. Our historic, updated cabin makes a great base of operations for hiking and touring within RMNP and is also close to restaurants, golf, and other amusements and activities in the quaint village of Estes Park. We trust you will enjoy it as much as we do! Fully equipped kitchen with full-size appliances (including a very quiet new Bosch dishwasher and a new Samsung oven/range), big living room with wood-burning fireplace (you can purchase firewood bundles from nearby Safeway or Ace hardware), flat-screen TV, leather couches with fur throw blankets, and brand-new Samsung washer and dryer make our cabin convenient and comfortable, but the location, views and privacy are what makes our cabin really exceptional.
What makes this property unique
Excellent mountain views and privacy. Lots of opportunities for seeing wildlife (especially elk, sometimes in large herds) year-round from this historic cabin. You can relax in front of a fire in the wood burning fireplace on the leather couches in the living room (you can purchase firewood bundles from nearby Safeway or Ace hardware), or kick back on the Adirondack chairs on the front deck and soak in the gorgeous views!
