Fantastic lake views in woodland/garden setting w/23' ceilings, firepit/chiminea
The soaring ceilings and panoramic windows of this comfortably contemporary home accentuate the stunning lake views and the forest that surrounds this wonderful getaway home. It is situated on 4 acres of woodland on a private road. Natural light floods every room.
You can rest assured that you will have an excellent vacation experience.
The view from the fully equipped kitchen opens onto the dining room table (comfortably seating 8) before moving on to the panorama of the woods and finally Lake Michigan. The house also has a washer and dryer
The living area features a wood-burning fireplace, made from old barn beams in a contemporary design, couch and 4 whimsical “marshmallow” poofs for extra seating.
Off the kitchen lies an office area with a bookshelf that hides 4 chairs and 2 tables for extra seating. Also awaiting you is a surprise message painted on the wall.
The kitchen opens up on to the dining area with a large table that easily seats 8.
For quiet reading you can sneak off to the den behind the fireplace to a comfortable spot protected by a sliding barn door. There is a small separate play area for the kids that includes a small foosball table that coverts into slide hockey and pool. There is an extensive selection of board games, cards, puzzles and books for all ages plus a fleet of toy trucks.
The washer and dryer. are located by the children's area.
For morning coffee, you can wander down to the two Adirondack chairs facing the lake and listen to the waves as well as to the cardinals, gold finches, red-winged blackbirds and 4 kinds of woodpeckers. Perhaps later that day, you’ll take a hike in the woods where you might come across deer, raccoon, possum, beaver, cranes and swans.
The over-sized patio off the kitchen includes a lovely perennial garden, cocktail area and dining table for 8.
The master bedroom is on the main floor with private bathroom and another gorgeous view of the surrounding forest. There are also 2 bedrooms on the second floor with a shared bathroom. One has 2 trundle beds, for a total of 4 sleeping spots, perfect for the kids, and the other a full size bed.
You can enjoy miles of fine sandy beaches and crystal clear waters of Lake Michigan with a five minute walk (no long steps to navigate) or by car to the drop off/parking spot at the entrance to the beach.
For the more energetic, there’s a full size horse shoe pit. and 4 basic bicycles which you can use to explore the many deserted roads that encircle Lake Michigan.
There is are a myriad of activities in our town of Montague which is only 10 minutes by car: an old fashioned ice cream parlor, gift shops, coffee house, book store, kayaking, restaurants, drugstore, gas station, farmers market and supermarket.
Every Tuesday night at the band shell adjacent to beautiful White Lake, you can enjoy concerts as well as the annual jazz and chamber music festivals. Not to mention fireworks on the 4th and the world famous Pumpkin Roll.
The historic Old Channel Inn is just down the hill. Great food and good service. They are celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2026.
