Great relaxing long weekend.
We stayed over the long weekend in October--perfect property, perfect location, check-in, check-out was easy. It was great combination of privacy and tranquility with proximity to culture and events.
Thanks for the lovely review. Come back any time.
Very relaxing, beautiful setting, beautiful time of the year.
Enjoyed having you, thank you for taking time to review.
Perfect vacation spot
Perfect cottage in a perfect location with a perfect host!
This is the first time in all my rental experience that i actually chose to stay in for a day just to enjoy the lovely grounds and swim in the pond. Close to excellent hiking and very easy access to Tanglewood.
Thanks so much for your perfect review.
I too find myself foregoing trips into town so I can stay on the property.
Am so pleased you plan to return.
It was terrific! Beautiful grounds, a lovely house, nice touches like flowers in vases all around. W
Overall, a truly wonderful experience.
So glad it worked out well for all of us.
Despite the rain. Thanks so much for review.
Please come back..
Charming cottage, charming property, lovely host
This is our first experience with VRBO and thanks to Beth and her magical getaway it was excellent. I highly recommend this darling cottage in the woods for any couple looking for a getaway. The cottage itself was clean and bright and full of charm. We loved everything about it! The property was absolutely magical. We took full advantage of our private gazebo by the gorgeous pond. It was perfect for Tai Chi in the early morning stillness followed by a hot cup as we leisurely planned our day. It was equally wonderful late in the day while enjoying a glass of wine. From our picture window we watched a family of deer grazing by the pond one evening at dusk. After a challenging hike in the heat I took a lovely swim in the pond at day's end. These are just a few examples of what we loved about it. This was our first visit to the Berkshires and the location was perfect for our exploration of the surrounding towns. We are already planning our next trip and would not dream of staying anywhere else. If you love peace, tranquility and nature, this is the property for you.
Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow,Kripalu, theater, concerts and Blue Grass Festivals, Country Fairs, Farmers' Markets, Antiques, Fine Dining, Historic Homes, Botanical Gardens, six great New England Towns to visit, and new to the area, even a nightclub or two, live music and dancing. Located on the cusp of Mass/NY.
Enjoy the best of the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley!

About Beth Rinzler
Am an expat of Manhattan but grew up outside of Boston.
Beth Rinzler purchased this Cottage in 1994
Why Beth Rinzler chose Austerlitz
For years my family rented a tiny cottage in the area so as to escape the city in the summer. We began loving it more and more and making our weekends longer and longer. When we made the leap to move up full time, we chose this location because it is on border of Berkshire and Columbia Counties, near all the bright lights, yet very peaceful and tranquil. We were hoping to find a property with one distinguishing feature; we never expected to find one with so many bells and whistles.
What makes this Cottage unique
Swimming , canoeing, walking around the pond, enjoying the gardens, lazing about the property ,watching the hummingbirds skim past the flowers. Reading under a 100 year old tree. Listening to the trickle of the stream. Fresh air. sipping that first cup of coffee outside, exercising on the gazebo. Yoga. Meditation. Slowing down.
