It would be difficult to think of a better location than this one. It is just around the corner from many of the best restaurants in town, maybe 3 minutes from the market, and steps away from some of the most walkable areas. We were easily able to walk to everything in downtown Charleston (including historic homes, parks, the art museum, and King Street), needing our car only for an island boating trip out of town. The apartment itself is a loft within what appears to have been a warehouse-type structure. It is well furnished and stylishly decorated. There were beautiful granite countertops and wood floors throughout. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and large wooden dining room table. The apartment comes with parking at a nearby garage about 2 short blocks away -- you will find that a welcome and convenient amenity. You pick up the parking pass when you arrive. One note: As the time of our stay (mid- to late-April), they were doing some utility work on the street, so there was construction equipment around. I wouldn't let it deter you from renting this nice apartment, and it looked like they were wrapping up as we were leaving anyway. We had a very nice stay here.

Thank you for such a wonderfully detailed review - it's clear you made the most of everything Charleston has to offer, and we love knowing that Palmetto Loft served as the perfect launching pad for it all! The loft's location really is something special. We also appreciate your gracious note about the street work - those things are never ideal, but we're happy it didn't dampen an otherwise lovely visit. We hope to welcome you back to Charleston again soon!
We love walking everywhere possible and this place was the perfect location. Only blocks to the water, great restaurants and all the coolness of downtown Charleston. The apartment is very nice and the host were very on top of anything we needed. We would highly recommend!!

Location was awesome, we had a plethora of Restaurants and activities with walking distance.
Your team made Restaurants on a evening dinner cruise. The food was outstanding, the entertainment was good and the ship was in good shape and clean.
Amazing location! All we could ask for including responsiveness of property manager!
I would highly recommend this property. It is in the perfect location and it is very comfortable, well stocked and furnished. It is close to amazing restaurants, shopping, historical sites! We stayed here for 3 weeks and loved every minute! Any questions we had were answered immediately by the property maanger.

Jennifer, thank you for staying at Palmetto Loft! We are so happy to hear that you had a wonderful stay, we hope to host you again soon!
Great location that is close to Charleston market and many of the top restaurants and bars. I would have rated it a 5 star except every morning between 4:45 AM and 6 AM you will be awaken by garbage collection for nearby restaurants and other establishments. Stil enjoyed stay given other location benefits.
Super close to some great dining, a little loud from the crowds outside and the person living above but easy to overlook that because the place is cozy and cool. Most def. will be back
Pictures are accurate. Free parking 2 blocks away. Squeaky stairs if you have small children.

Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you found the pictures accurate and appreciated the nearby parking. We apologize for the squeaky stairs and we’ll look into options to address this. We hope to welcome you back in the future!
The French Quarter Loft was lovely, very comfortable and within easy walking distances of a ton of great Charleston restaurants.
Communication with the property management company was outstanding and they provided very thoughtful touches throughout the space. Our original flight was cancelled and we ended up arriving extremely late and they made sure all the lights were on and we felt very welcomed.
Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Sherry, thank you for your kind review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Palmetto Loft and enjoyed exploring the French Quarter! We hope to host you again soon!
Overall experience was fantastic if you are looking for a walking/eating/drinking tour of the historic/classically tourist spots of Charleston. Amenities were great and the bed was comfortable and the shower pressure was strong. We left the kiddos at home so the minimal morning sun was great for catch-up on sleep. Communication with the management firm was great too. Also a very easy walk to Harris Teeter for necessary groceries and snacks. Would definitely rent again.

Cumberland St. Stay in French Quarter of Charleston
The property was first rate. While the door entrance looks pretty ordinary, the inside was wonderful. The pictures do not give it justice for how comfy it is. Finally, the location in the French Quarter one half block from East Bay and one block East of the Market cannot be beat for ease of walking. Loved it.

Clean, great spot to walk everywhere, nice decor, love that it's 2 levels, doesn't look like much outside but it's great! Perfect spot if you're working from the apartment. Bed is kind of uncomfortable because they put a memory foam topper on it that shifts easily. Hard to sleep one night when a new family arrived on the next level-- noisy.

Thank you for your 5 star review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the property and the central location! We truly appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve. We would love to host you again soon!
We were very happy with our stay at Palmetto Loft. The apartment was clean and spacious. The concierge service had our groceries delivered and put away before we arrived and arranged for our transportation back to the airport. Our ride arrived right on time. We could not have picked a better location in Charleston as our rental was a 5-minute walk to Dock Street, Queen Street, and 34 West Theatres, as well as numerous great restaurants and other tourist attractions.

Too many people sitting outside on the stoop smoking weed. Also, there was clothing in dresser when we arrived and upstairs bathroom had used soap and shampoo in still in the shower.

Worst bed I’ve ever slept on. Had a cheap topper above mattress and cheap microfiber sheets!
Dirty behind bed and dirty grout in bathroom. Expected something much nicer. Plus the tv never worked and the Wi-Fi was very weak.

Ray, thank you for staying at Palmetto Loft. We are disappointed to hear that your stay did not exceed your expectations and what you've mentioned is certainly not indicative of our standard. Our dedicated Concierge team is readily available to assist with anything you may need during your stay or to help resolve any issues you may encounter. We hope to host you again for a future stay in Charleston.
Property manager was wonderful. A little difficult to find the door as it is not obviously marked. The number is above the door, but very hard to read. Great location near restaurants and shops not to mention all the historic homes and buildings. My complaints would be: No outlet in upstairs bathroom for blow dryer, lighting is pretty but not practical, and restaurant workers that for some reason sit on the step going into the condo and talk with their friends so it feels like they are in the room with you. They were not embarrassed to be sitting there even when we had to ask them to get up so we could enter--Very strange. They were nice, but it was annoying.

Elizabeth, thank you for your detailed feedback!
We're glad you enjoyed the location and appreciated the support from our team. We apologize for the challenges with finding the door and the lack of an outlet in the upstairs bathroom. Your comments on the lighting and the issue with restaurant workers are noted, and we are looking into ways to improve these aspects.
We appreciate your stay and hope to provide an even better experience next time.
Let me first say the apartment was wonderful! The issues we had was; people sitting on the steps right in front of our door, day and night, talking very loudly ( if a gate could be put in front of the steps , this would help greatly with this situation. )The noise and running water coming from other units ( not sure how thick the walls are) and the way the parking pass worked (after two calls someone helped us with this though.) With all that being said we did enjoy our stay, the the bed was like sleeping on a cloud and we thank you for our complimentary bottle of wine!!:)
Our stay was good but a little exasperated by the people hanging out on nearby stoops and eating food and smoking pot. The smell was awful and not appreciated. Unit was nicely set up and would have benefited from not having a dumpster out of the front door for nearby construction which was accessed/dumped early on two of the three mornings of our stay. WIFI was painfully slow and inaccessible for stay-had to tether to our phones for accessing the internet on computers during our stay. retro music devices a nice touch but only downstairs unit had bluetooth-not the upstairs unit in the bedroom area. Some other nice touches but more things expected due to price of this unit and other comps in the area.

Clean and Cute but
Loft layout was cool- works well for a couple, space was very clean, and design aesthetic was nice, but no “wow” factor. Likely could’ve had the same experience at a hotel. Location was very convenient for what we planned to do in town, but again, there are many options in that area. Be aware – while it’s not ENTIRELY in the property management’s control, if you want to sleep past 6:30 AM, you might want to find a different location. Or at least ask for a discount while there is a Porter Potty and construction storage right next to the sidewalk in front of the entry door. We stayed from Friday to Tuesday and three out of the four nights were woken up by very loud, trash pick up and construction movement outside (THANKFULLY the bed was very comfortable). Additionally, the entrance is a favorite stoop for local restaurant workers. One of which we found sitting on the front step smoking a cigarette. I don’t think we’d use this company again, but if you’re looking for basic stay in Charleston, it might work for you.

Hi Ashley,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We’re glad you enjoyed the clean space, comfortable bed, and that the location worked well for your plans in Charleston. That said, we’re really sorry to hear that the early morning noise and activity outside impacted your experience.
Our team does stay in regular communication with the surrounding restaurants and businesses to try and minimize disturbances, but since the loft is in a busy, walkable part of downtown, some street noise and foot traffic can be hard to avoid—especially during the workweek. Still, we completely understand how frustrating it is to be woken up during your stay, and we truly apologize for the inconvenience.
We’re also sorry to hear that the foot traffic near the entrance was bothersome. Since the loft is in a popular area surrounded by restaurants and shops, it’s not uncommon for nearby workers to take short breaks outside. That said, we’ll continue keeping an eye on things to ensure the entryway stays clean and welcoming for guests.
We appreciate your honest feedback—it helps us improve. While we're disappointed to hear this stay didn’t fully meet your expectations, we hope you’ll consider staying with us again down the line.
Best,
The Luxury Simplified Retreats Team
My girlfriend and I stayed in this apartment in mid June 2020 for about 10 days and had a fantastic experience. The apartment has a great layout, is very well decorated, has a well stocked kitchen (we cooked several nights), and is in an excellent location. The parking situation is very convenient as well (garage is about a 5 minute walk from the loft). Mgt. was very responsive and courteous and generally a pleasure to deal with (they responded promptly to a text I sent somewhat late on a Sunday night, which was very impressive). One thing to note though is that the unit is not the quietest place. The apt we stayed in is on the ground floor, so you do hear street noise to varying degrees depending on the night of the week. At night we simply turned on a fan for white noise and that worked wonders. The walls are also not the thickest but again, the fans provided in the closet worked well to drown this out. The one other thing to note is that the apartment doesn't get a ton of natural light, but since we didn't spend a ton of time in the apt during the day, this wasn't a big issue for us. All things considered, I'd highly recommend this place given the negatives are far, far outweighed by the positives. We look forward to coming back for another stay soon.

First time using VRBO........
The property is very clean but it smells like a mixture of cats and your grandmothers house. It is also very dark due to the family room, kitchen and dining room being below street level. Property is located off of East Bay and a couple streets over from the Market near the Scotchman's connivence store. The property is comfortable, well designed and the kitchen is fully stocked but the linens and towels are old. This is our first time using VRBO and we will be a little more discerning next time but all in all not a bad experience.
