Enter from Kahala Ave. through front gates of the property, exclusively for cottage access.

Enter into luxury living to Kahala Estate Cottage, which allows guests the choice of elegant interior living with air conditioning; or exterior living on the extensive deck with the pool, spa, tennis court and large lawn area (pest free year round). Walk on a private path, past one house, to Kahala Beach for swimming or snorkeling or walk further down the east side of the beach to the 5 star Kahala Hotel for snacks or full dining options or its own awesome beach. (All beaches in Hawaii are public).

The large lawn is very pleasant and tennis court provides recreation for the family.

The 'cottage' is a self contained luxury home away from home of approximately 1,850 square feet interior space with 2 car garage, 2.5 baths, 2 bedrooms and study and den area with queen size futon couch for additional space.

The full kitchen has numerous seating areas, separate elegant dining room, and living room opens out to the pool and spa.

The property shows pride of ownership as owner's home share the property but are rarely home. Property built by owner and completed in early 2000.

About Rai Chu

Kahala is the premier location in Honolulu and thus heaven on earth. My husband and I are lucky enough to have lived in this neighborhood for over 30 years as we would not choose any other place. This property is truly a dream come true and would be a dream home for our guests as well. We luckily spotted this property, raw land, in 1998 and designed our own estate and built what exists today. We moved into the larger "main" house just before Christmas in 1999.

We were lucky to spot this property and to own this large parcel in such a sought after neighborhood. We were able to build our dream estate here with a rare large lawn and still having room for a comfortable wonderful, self sufficient cottage of over 2,000 sq ft.

What makes this house unique

This area is the sunniest on the island, due to the southern most residential area on the island. The night stars are often spectacular because of the wide expansive view of the sky, as other homes are farther away than most. On a clear moonlit night the moon rises over the ocean on the east side (left as you walk toward the beach from the house) lighting up the water for many miles.

The house is located one house from the beach, down a private lane. Guests have commented that the location and grounds are way more spectacular than the pictures show. Kahala Hotel is one block away; Kahala Mall, a major regional mall is 3 blocks from the house with the H-1 Freeway and access to the rest of Honolulu is next to Kahala Mall. Waikiki is a quick 2-3 miles away, going along the water. You may also enjoy a stop at the Kapiolani Comm College Farmers Market on Saturday mornings.

Tennis court (lighted upon request) on large prime Kahala Ave. property, own gated entrance, 2 car garage, wrap around decks off large lawn area, pool & tennis court, house beautifully decorated and furnished with top of the line items to create comfortable relaxing home. The neighborhood is well known for its location, close proximity to Waiikiki. the beaches, freeways to other areas, upscale and quiet.

great home, spacious, well appointed, clean, convenient location, walking distance to beach, close to downtown & Waikiki. Beautiful pool and well kept tennis court. Only negative is close proximty to busy street, though the noise at night was minimal.

Owner's Response: Property is on ocean side of the famous Kahala Ave., the 5th Avenue of the Pacific. The house is one lot from the beach and 2 short blocks to the famed 5 star Kahala Hotel where celebrities and heads of state make their home in Hawaii.

Kahala Family Vacation!

Our recent stay in Kahala was amazing! We typically stay at the Kahala Hotel, but decided to try this rental property for a one week stay instead. The house includes all of the comforts of home with the private use of the pool, spa and tennis court. Our kids loved waking up and going for a walk on the beach or spending time in the water. The Whole Foods up the street made it super easy to stock the fridge and make breakfast and other meals at the house. The property is well-maintained and located in our favorite part of Oahu. We look forward to visiting this property again on our next visit!

Fantastic Stay!

Everything was wonderful! Our family had people aged 15 to 70 and there was something for everyone. The home is beautiful. We enjoyed the swimming pool, hot tub and the tennis court. The beach was so private and yet you could easily walk along the shore to a park or the Kahala Hotel. The area is quiet and private and yet not far from shopping, dinning and entertainment. The owners are very accommodating and helpful. I strongly recommend staying here and hope to return in the future.

Great south shore property

We had a wonderful week at the Kahala Cottage -- grandparents, parents and two teenagers. The kids slept in the loft area, which was a little tight for two, but they made it work. The home is beautiful with highlights being a great pool w/Jacuzzi, nice lawn for Frisbee/paddle ball, private tennis court and shady veranda for viewing it all and having meals and cocktails...we enjoyed them all. A/C units were nice to have and are super quiet (could hardly tell when they were running). Very short walk down a path to the beach. The beach is not very spacious there, but it's another short walk to Waialae Beach Park, which has plenty of room and not crowded during the week. Convenient location to groceries, restaurants and other south island excursions. Besides just relaxing at the house and enjoying the yard (which we did a lot), other highlights of our trip included: hiking Diamond Head (5+ minute drive), two great waterfall hikes -- Manoa and Maunawili Falls (Manoa also has a great arboretum worth checking out and Maunawili has a 40' jump...if you've got the courage), great local dinners at Assagio (Italian), Plumeria seafood buffet (Kahala Resort) and Maile's Thai Bistro (Hawaii Kai Town Center). We all wanted to stay another week.

We stayed at the cottage during Sept '12 with my daughter and her partner. We all had a wonderful time the location is superb, away from the busy town area but so accessible to Waikiki. There is also a bus stop right outside the gate ! The house is spacious, clean and has the benefit of a family orientated kitchen, a relaxing pool and also only 50 yds (private access) from a quiet secluded beach. Nearby Kahala Mall is perfect for the supplies and the Olive Tree (Greek casual style cafe) is definitely worth a visit. We absolutely plan to return to Kahala Cottage again. Much mahalo to the owners of this cottage who throughout were a pleasure to deal with.
