About Gary Burke
We moved to the mountains of North Carolina in 1990 to get out of the hectic city of Dallas, Texas. We had been looking for somewhere to build that was lakefront or creek-front when we discovered this property in Dillsboro that was on beautiful Dick's Creek. We bought it and I built the cabin for us to live in. Eventually I was able to acquire adjacent property and built another home. We liked the original cabin too much to sell so we decided to place it on the vacation rental market so others could enjoy it.
Gary Burke purchased this Cabin in 1992
Why Gary Burke chose Qualla
15 acres of prime mountain property with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park bordering the West ridge property line and Dick's Creek bordering the East property line. The cabin sits in a private location on the corner of the property backing up to the creek.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabin is not your average rental cabin. I'm a custom builder and originally built it to live in and did until building another home on the property. It is a great location being centrally located in Dillsboro. You can go one way towards Waynesville and Asheville or the other direction towards Cherokee and Bryson City. The cabin is privately located on 15 acres with no one to disturb you and a wonderful, relaxing back porch to sit on and enjoy the creek. You can make a day out of that. I've lived many places and this is by far the best place so far. You can bet on having four full seasons to enjoy. It's the perfect location. Come and enjoy.

Great place to spend time relaxing
We enjoyed the cabin very much. It was clean and very nice inside and out. The creek was especially nice to hear...we hope to return when weather is warmer so we can sit out on the back porch and enjoy it--it was cold when we were there. My wife and I are in our seventies so the bedroom & bathroom on the main floor were really convenient. Other members of our family enjoyed the two bedrooms upstairs and my 6 year old grandson liked the daybed in the upstairs loft. Thanks.
More than expected. Beautiful area
Relaxing you can here the creek flowing in your bedroom sounds like a waterfall
Thanks James, it’s a hit or miss in March given the mountains! We got 6” of snow a few weeks ago, but as spring rolls in the weather is absolutely gorgeous! April and May are great times to visit as it’s before the summer rush! Please visit again soon! Gary
Nice family cabin
We had a great time.
Wonderful family mountain cabin experience
We had a wonderful family vacation experience at the cabin. Our group ranged from ages 9 to 75 and all were very comfortable with the accommodations. The setting was serene. The information that Gary provided us prepared us well for our trip.
We would recommend getting to the cabin before dark as the 1.5 mi. gravel road leading to the cabin can be a bit intimidating. A 4-wheel drive car or all-wheel drive vehicle is recommended as it is mountain terrain.
From the cabin, we made daily trips all over from Pigeon Forge, TN to Clingman's Dome to the Biltmore to Cherokee to many of the beautiful local waterfalls. The cabin is conveniently located between the Great Smoky Mountains and Nantahala National Forest. So many great sites to see all within about an hour from the cabin (Pigeon Forge is almost 2 hours away). It was surely a trip to remember and we'd love to come back again if we get the chance.
Great sounds of water and relaxing.
Will come again.
Cabin was very clean and plenty of room for us all. Loved sitting in the porch listening to the creek.
