Enjoy a five-star luxury stay in a house without any neighbors in this secluded Mt. Hood vacation rental.
Located just outside Zigzag on 24 acres of private, protected wilderness, this charming cabin in the woods offers guests a true escape from it all, with a magical feel everywhere you turn. As soon as you park your car and proceed across the custom, steel bridge, you'll feel the quiet settle in. A short trail takes you past a whimsical swing set and to the front door of this beautiful home. If you glance to your left, you may notice a beautiful chandelier hanging from old growth trees.
After crossing the river rock patio, you enter into the great room - a room of simple, yet vibrant decor and enormous space from the cathedral-style ceilings and sustainably-harvested wood floors. Warm up by the fireplace and enjoy views of the forest and a good book. This home is a great place to unplug, with limited WiFi access and no cell service.
For the chefs among you, gourmet meals are an every night possibility with the expansive kitchen stocked full of updated appliances and fun gadgets. Dine outside or in - no matter where you eat, you'll have amazing views.
This is a two-bedroom, one-bathroom home, comfortable for four people to share. The bathroom features a walk-in shower with French doors and a river rock floor, adding a sense of luxury to daily task. The downstairs bedroom has a comfortable queen sleigh bed.
The entire upstairs is the master bedroom. Ample natural light and more astounding views make the guests of this room feel like royalty. Snuggle into a Gustavian-style queen bed, with an additional twin day bed for an additional guest. Draw a bath in the antique claw tooth bathtub and feel yourself relax deeply.
Whether you head out with a basket to collect huckleberries and chantrelle mushrooms, hit the slopes at Timberline 22 miles away, or hike around the Government Camp area, this stunning, peaceful Mt. Hood getaway will welcome you back with warmth and wonder.
**Important Information: Those with limited mobility, take heart: the trail from the parking area to the home is roughly 150 feet in length and crosses a grated steel pedestrian bridge. Appropriate footwear is required, especially in winter, as this trail is not shoveled. The driveway is plowed only when the snow depth exceeds 8 inches, and a vehicle with AWD, chains, and appropriate ground clearance may be required. Bring your OWN flashlight to get in after dark. It is a dirt trail to the Rock Stairs.
Please Note: This home has limited the total WiFi bandwidth to 1GB; it moves slowly, so please be patient. Please do not use any audio or video streaming services. We encourage you to turn the WiFi off when it isn't in use. Thank you!**
Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
It was such a beautiful location. I love how hidden away and private it was. The creek is beautiful and the snow just added to the experience. If the skies are clear at night, you'll see more stars in the sky than you could ever imagine. It was simply amazing. I love the little bath and the shower! We took lots of bubble baths and and enjoyed cooking in the well stocked kitchen with the beautiful gas stove.
Great house and grounds with lots of charm!
This is a fantastic home and we were lucky to spend the weekend there. So cozy and romantic!
Our stay at the Swedish stuga was amazing. We brought our 1 year old son and he loved it just as much as we did. Especially the bath tub. We will definitely stay here again, maybe in the summer next time to experience a season change and use the cooling tub outside. I really enjoyed all the masonry and the style of the home. It was very cozy
The Swedish Stuga is a wonderful, enchanted hide away. The privacy of the property and private access to the creek and hiking trails makes this rental a very special place! i look forward to going back many times.
