The cottage is perfect and we hope to stay next year for 4 weeks. Bed comfy , fireplace handy when temps were chilly and everything one would need was provided. Everything great about Beaufort was in walking distance from the cottage. Also we appreciated the parking pass to Hunting Beach. Well worth the trip,
Outstanding in every aspect! Everything new and modern, beautifully restored 1890 house in a lovely neighborhood. Close to everything but very quiet. Wish we could have stayed longer but will return. Thanks Karen
Loved the decor of this place! Karen was a great host, very helpful. Location was great for exploring Beaufort and the surrounding locations. If we are back in Beaufort again, this is where we'll stay!
This lovely renovated and decorated cottage was perfect for my sister and me as we made a short trip to Beaufort. There is nothing not to love about it from the rocking chairs on the porch, new kitchen and baths, and the cozy, comfortable living area. Oh, and the beautiful patio/back yard! For a few days, a week, or a month this is a wonderful home away!
The check in process was smooth, the location was terrific and the cottage was perfect! My wife and I couldn’t have been happier. We’ll definitely stay here again if it’s available when we visit Beaufort again.
The cottage was lovely, well decorated and furnished. It was the perfect size for us with a room to spare. We didn’t stay long enough to use the backyard. The location was perfect and a quiet easy walk to downtown. We’d have been happy to stay longer. And would stay again if we come back. Thank you Karen
Sunshine Cottage is a wonderful place to stay from the decor, location and amenities to the cozy look & feel of each room. Our family stayed the week of Christmas and I was able to cook and bake like I do in my home kitchen. Easy parking in front and loved having Hulu, Max, Peacock and Paramount channels on the TV.
The cottage was beautiful and the beds were comfortable. It was very clean and the kitchen had everything you need. We would highly recommend it and would definitely go back again!
Amazing property with convenient downtown access. Excellent communication with Karen. Amenities were spot on and property had great kitchen and backyard space! Highly recommend.
Loved the place — very clean , well- appointed, and within walking distance to main part of town on waterfront. Great communication with owner — she was fantastic. Highly recommended.
Our 3rd stay here, visiting from CT, this time with our two adult sons. the cottage had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable for the four of us. Loved exploring the Beaufort area and Hunting Island with the kids. Spent a day in Charleston also, easy ride from the Cottage. I’m sure we will back again in the future.

About the host

I have been a public school teacher for 20+ years and currently teach ELA/EC at Hendersonville Middle School in NC. We moved to WNC in 2016 and love living in the mountains. What better than to also find a 2nd home near the ocean. After searching for a cottage in the historic downtown area for 4 years, we found this little gem of a house. We live in the Asheville NC area but wanted a 2nd home near the ocean and walkable to beautiful downtown Beaufort!
Why they chose this property
This cottage was built in 1896 and has been renovated to have all the modern amenties. We love that it has 3 bedrooms and 2 nicely renovated bathrooms. Most of the properties we saw had only 1 bathroom. The high open ceiling when entering the cottage gives it a light and airy space with plenty of room for the living room, dining room and kitchen to have an open concept. The neighbors are great and it's a community where people know and care about their 'family' of neighbors.
What makes this property unique
Our 2+ BR/2 Bath cottage is located in a real neighborhood, one which has a history of neighbor caring for neighbor. You'll find it easy to fit right in, walk everywhere and enjoy the beautiful historic Beaufort downtown. Since this is our 2nd home, we will be continually upgrading and improving the cottage. I'm a garderner and will be bringing in palm trees as well as native plants to create a relaxing patio and front porch area.
When you stay at our cottage, you become part of a community. Walk or bike to downtown easily. We will make every effort to make your stay a great one! We own other rental properties and have very satisfied tenants/guests.
