House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
This renovated classic 1940’s shingled Maine summer cottage is bright and cheerful throughout--like a page from 'House and Gardens' magazine. Furnishings are in the Maine cottage style, and the gourmet kitchen has been recently updated. First floor has a single bunk bedroom suitable for children and shower bath, second floor has three bedrooms--two with queen size beds and one with twin beds-- and bathroom with a claw foot tub.
Enjoy ocean views through a wall of windows looking out across an open field or from the master bedroom. Open deck off the living room and kitchen is a great place for outdoor dining and for contemplating nature’s beauty. Contemporary fully equipped eat-in kitchen with stunning views into the surrounding 2 acres of woods.
Great place for kids who delight with playing field out-front, 'secret' forts in the woods, and looking for treasures on the rocks and beaches. Steps away from the Juniper Point community house, four clay tennis courts, boat dock and beach. This cottage has heat and a woodburning fireplace, so would be a good choice for the off season (May, June, September, October).
House is ideal for four adults, but will accomodate up to six maximum.

About Bill Barton
Property is owned by Bill and Lisa Barton. Bill has summered in Boothbay Harbor all his life. Bill is also the past president of the Juniper Point Association, an organization that brings together residents on Juniper and McKown points and maintains the community house, four clay tennis courts, two docks, trails and beach access.
Bill Barton purchased this Cottage in 1999
Why Bill Barton chose West Boothbay Harbor
Bill's mother, the artist Nancy Hemenway Barton, was born in Boothbay the summer of 1920. Numerous family members have summer homes on Juniper Point and its been the much loved gathering spot for countless summers. Purchased the house in 1999 so that our children--we have six in all--would have a place to come with their spouses and children.
What makes this Cottage unique
Summer in Maine is about the outdoors for us, whether it be boating, tennis, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming off the dock, or just relaxing in a family atmosphere. Bill's brother's both have houses nearby as do several cousins, so there is lots of movement between the cottages, picnics and fun multi-generational outings to nearby islands, beaches, or to town. The whole community retains a friendly, low key atmosphere that is welcoming yet not intrusive.

Great house and great location , great weather for our week, great owners Bill and Lisa are the best. Thanks
Charming, delightful stay
We enjoyed our week at the cabin! Five stars from a discerning "vacationland" duo
Thanks Katherine! So glad you had a nice time. Hope to see you next year.
Everything I could have ever dreamed of and more! Gorgeous home. Perfectly appointed. Ideal location. Host Bill Barton was a pleasure to deal with. He answered any and all questions and offered up additional information about the area. I wish Osprey were my home!
Perfect location for mid-coast Maine vacation
Perfect location. Water views, with access to a dock and a small beach. Short drive to town, and a little over an hour drive to Portland or Camden for day trips. The house has all the amenities we needed, including WiFi, is well maintained and clean, and plenty of room for large families. Many families in this compound of homes, so a good spot for a family vacation.
My wife and I like to bike, so we did some local riding. The Southport loop is scenic with minimal traffic, and the loop up to Barter's Island is nice too.
There are many kayak rental companies in the area, and some will drop off the kayaks to you. The house is in a perfect location for kayaks.
Thanks for your review and glad you had a great time. Our best, Bill and Lisa
A little piece of heaven.....
A little piece of heaven...My family and I had the pleasure of staying at the Osprey this past summer for three weeks. We fell in love with the house, the point, and the people.
The Osprey is perfectly situated a short two minute walk from four beautifully maintained clay tennis courts. The house itself is warm, light and extremely well appointed. The view of the water from the living room and master bedroom are quintessential coastal Maine - gorgeous. We ate most of our meals outside on the charming side porch. Bill and Lisa do a beautiful job of making the Osprey a home and not a “rental.” From, hanging flower baskets to a jaunt on Bill’s beautiful boat, the owners could not be kinder and more accommodating.
The house is part of the Juniper Point Association, which anyone can join for a small fee and is well worth doing! The clay tennis courts are excellent and the pros are fabulous. Ice cream socials for kids on Thursdays, movie night on Tuesdays, and periodic adult events were priceless to this family. I attended yoga there on Tuesdays and all four of us joined the tennis clinics, which are offered daily for children and adults.
You can certainly choose to keep to yourself and simply enjoy all that the Osprey and Maine has to offer, but the people living on Juniper point are well worth noting. They are warm, friendly, caring, generous, and endlessly entertaining. Despite being temporary guests, our neighbors made us feel at home and part of the community.
As a side note, Boothbay Harbor is an adorable town with lots to offer. Tidal Transit has some fabulous kayaking tours. We loved the Maine Botanical Gardens so much so that we became members. My 8-year old son could not get enough of the touch and feel exhibit at the Maine aquarium. I went hiking on local trails several times, and my kids joined sailing schools where they made friends and learned new skills.
All of this helps make the Osprey a simply fabulous home!
Fun Family Times as the Osprey
5 adults and 3 children fit perfectly in the Osprey. Our first stay in Boothbay was great fun. We made the most of activities in the area. Hope to come back one day. Thanks to the owner for guiding us to fun places to eat and things to do in Boothbay. The Osprey was refreshing and totally Maine! Exactly what you want to stay in when you are on the coast.
Close to the Boothbay Region Botanical Gardens and town of Boothbay. Boothbay offers many restaurants, shopping, whale watching tours, guided fishing tours, kayaking excursions and hiking trails. There is something for everyone!
