Sandy beach, 2 bedroom home, 10 min. to Traverse City WiFi, central air

Space 800 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

Great sandy beach, close to Traverse City, WiFi, central air, cable TV,

Willow Cottage is one of 3 cottages that make up our small lakeside resort with 70 ft of sandy Silver Lake frontage. The cottage has all amenities (Wi-Fi, central air conditioning, cable, flat screen TVs in living room and both bedrooms, fireplace, central heat, fully equipped kitchen) We are located equally between Traverse City and Interlochen – 10 minutes in either direction. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore is 25 minutes away. The lake is a crystal clear 600 acre spring-fed lake; great for boating, fishing and swimming. There are two docks, a swimming raft, kayaks, paddle boards and hammocks that are shared by our guests. Each cottage has its own outdoor table, charcoal grill and campfire pits with wood provided. We live on the property and have an additional 30 ft. of lake frontage for our personal use. We have our seaplane docked there and would be glad to provide aerial tours to our guests.

Silver Lake has clear sparkling water, surrounded by pine and hardwood tress with islands and peninsulas, great for boating, fishing and swimming. The resort has been in existence since the 1930's when Silver Lake just had a few resorts and family cottages dotting the landscape. Our resort is on prime flat lake front property with mature trees. The 70 ft of sandy beach has a firm sandy bottom, with no stairs or steps. There is a large backyard for yard games. We have owned and managed the cottages since 1989 and take great pride in keeping them in tip-top condition. We strive to provide a peaceful and enjoyable experience for our guests.

Since our own home is located on the property, we are available for sight-seeing advice, restaurant recommendations. We have maps of nearby bike, walking trails, winery/brewery brochures and places only the locals know where to go and see.

The other cottage located in our little resort, is property ID # 361471 (Maple Grove).

About Marian

My husband, Tom and I were married in 1979. We moved to Traverse City in 1980 from the city of Detroit. My mother was raised on an local farm. My maternal great grandparents were pioneers to the area. My mother moved away when she was a young adult. I developed my love for the area as a young child as we vacationed every year in Traverse City. Tom and I honeymooned in Traverse City. We moved here 9 months later.

Marian purchased this cottage in 1989

Why Marian chose Traverse City

We discovered and purchased our small resort in 1989. It was a diamond in the rough, but it had a great private sandy beach and was in close to Traverse City. We remodeled the cottages as we raised our 5 children. We worked on the cottages as a family. Over the years, our children have learned many skills and developed a great work ethic as everyone helped over the years.

What makes this cottage unique

We take great pride in providing clean/comfortable/updated homes that our guests will call home during their stay. You will be able to relax and enjoy your vacation as we are very available for assistance as we live on site.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Nice cottage, clean, all the comforts of home, with an up-North feel.

All the comforts of home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful place with a great view of Northern Michigan, Silver Lake right out the windows. The dock just feet from our cottage was perfect for our boat. The entire experience was great! The cottage was just the right size for the two of us, but would be equally fine for four. It was neat and very clean. Looking forward to going back again next summer! Thanks for everything!

Willow Cottage - A Northern Oasis

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a week in the most amazing Willow Cottage. The cottage itself was impeccable and cute beyond words. You couldn't get any closer to the clear water of Silver Lake if you tried. Marian and Tom were amazing hosts and available to answer any questions. They've truly built themselves a little oasis up north. We cannot thank you enough for the most memorable family vacation! We hope to be back next summer, if not sooner!!!

Five Stars!!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of there who visited the cottage in May 2016. We had a great time. The cottage is amazing right by the lake with all that is needed for fun for a family. But you probably already know this from the pictures and the descriptions. In addition to what is mentioned in the profile/descriptions there were other reasons why we really liked the cottage. I mention a few that comes to my mind below…

• The whole enquiry, booking and rental process was managed seamlessly, with clear and prompt communication by Marian Brady.

• High-speed internet at the apartment has amazing speeds. I checked and I was pleasantly surprised to see download speeds were close to 20 Mbps. The ability to instantly connect with friends and family while on vacation and the ability to quickly check for and research locations was priceless.

• There are 3 flat screen TVs in the cottage with cable connections and a good line up of channels for the whole family. No fighting over channel selection among family members!

• The kitchen was equipped with enough cutleries/bowl/pans that you can cook almost anything. We did not miss our home-kitchen anytime during the visit and still made some amazing food.

We enjoyed the vacation cottage and we felt right at home!

Thanks, Marian!

Squeaky clean cottage on a beautiful sandy lake!

  • 5 of 5

Our cottage was right on the edge of a very clean sandy lake and only 10 minutes from Traverse City! This adorable cottage was squeaky clean from top to bottom!  The deck overlooking the lake allowed us to totally relax as we were able to watch not only lake activity during the day but in the evening witness the most beautiful, awesome moonrises! It was just wonderful only having to bring our own towels, washcloths and food as ALL the other amenities and appliances were provided.  The decor within the cottage was so charming and the beds were very comfortable.  The cottage owner, who came to meet us the first day was just so pleasant and helpful.  She made sure to point out to us a binder that she had made up that had a list of all the sights to see in the area, good restaurants to eat at, local grocery stores and emergency numbers.  I was very happy that she also had the address of the hospital in town should we have needed it.  Our family had a wonderful, relaxing, bonding vacation in large part due to the lovely cottage we were so fortunate to be at.  We will definitely be coming back to this ‘dream cottage of ours’ in the future to see the amazing sights we weren’t able to see this time.  Thanks for the treasured family memories!! Relaxing & Calming

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cottage because my brother was visiting from Florida and we wanted him to experience Michigan on the Lake. We were very, very pleased with the accommodations, property and lake view. Marian was very pleasant and wonderful to deal with when making reservations and upon our arrival. The cottage was exactly as described and we will be returning at some point in time. Traverse City is very close and easy to get to and there's a lot to do in the area, regardless of what your interests are. Marian was very helpful in restaurant referrals and directions. My only complaint, wish we could have stayed longer.
