About the property

EVERYONE EATS TOGETHER! NO NEED TO EAT IN SHIFTS, 3 LARGE LEVELS TO SPREAD O

Welcome to our authentic log cabin. We are proud to offer a very clean and well equipped cabin for our guests Our private road brings you through our gate, to the huge open areas around the cabin. There is plenty of parking for everyone . The kids can explore our property, or climb on the kids play structure or huge assortment of BIG boulders to climb and jump between. There is also a baby deer sanctuary a short walk from our cabin. The caretakers are always happy to let you interact with the deer in their natural setting. Sometimes the deer wander up to our cabin for a visit. Many of the adults guests have said their visit to the Sanctuary was more fun for them than the kids. The South Toe River which is about a mile away, as the crow flies. It is a gentle river perfect for fishing, tubing, or a peaceful rafting trip for as long as you would like. There are many places to pull ashore if anyone gets tired. The cell service is pretty good through most of that area of the river. That makes it easy to have someone pick you up when you have had a full day. I have been told by the "locals" that the river can be taken all the way into South East TN. after joining with the Nolichuckey River.

Some of our guests have decided to bring their own RV for sleeping purposes. We are always flexible and strive to make your event, exactly what you have planned it to be. We understand the tremendous amount of planning that goes into getting everyone's schedule in sync when deciding on the dates, location and pricing for 30 to 40 adults and children.

WE HAVE NEVER TURNED A GROUP AWAY IN close to 10 YEARS. WE ENJOY SPEAKING WITH EACH LEADER RESPONSIBLE FOR ORGANIZING EACH REUNION OR RETREAT. WE TRY TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO PHONE US WHEN ORGANIZING YOUR EVENT. 95% OF OUR BOOKINGS ARE FOR FAMILY REUNIONS AND CHURCH RETREATS. WE OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR OUR MILITARY AND ANY CHURCH AFFILIATED GROUPS. MANY OF OUR GROUPS RETURN YEAR AFTER YEAR FOR THEIR TIME TOGETHER. WE ARE HAPPY TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR EVENT, EXCEED EVERYONE'S EXPECTATIONS. WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO HELP EACH GROUP PERSONALIZE THEIR STAY WITH US.

From the large covered porches and surrounding property you can often enjoy spectacular views of 4 mountain ranges.

Enjoy the spaciousness of this 4500 square foot, 8 bedroom, 7 bath cabin that was recently remodeled. The lodge’s interior features huge, vaulted, log beam ceilings. The Lodge was professionally decorated in a 'Mountain Lodge' and 'Americana' theme with antiques and era replica pieces. Relax in an authentic log cabin, that was custom built with timber harvested from this original homestead. The lodge has a rustic atmosphere, but includes all the modern conveniences and amenities you would expect in a new custom home.

Three of the eight bedrooms are Master suites with their own private master baths, complete with jetted Jacuzzi tubs and oversized tile showers. All of the other five bedrooms have a full bathroom with custom tile showers located adjacent to them. All of the bedrooms have authentic log beds including 1 king, 5 queen, 2 doubles, 3 convertible sofas, and 4 twin beds. The main dining table, crafted of timbers cut on the property, seats 20 comfortably. A separate dining table in the adjacent room seats an additional six.

The downstairs great room features a 48 inch flat screen TV with CABLE, DVD/VCR player and a surround sound audio system. This spacious room is decorated in a mountain theme and has all leather overstuffed sofas ,chairs and ottomans. There is a wet bar with a small refrigerator as well as a custom pool table, and a 6 foot Air Hockey table. This level also includes the bunk house room, with two sets of twin bunk beds. A full bathroom and separate laundry room with washer, dryer and ground level entrance round out this floor.

About Bill or Cindy Davis

Cindy and I met at our church youth group in 1974. and were married in Long Beach, CA. in 1976. Cindy worked for the school district, and I retired from law enforcement in 2003. We have raised our first four children in a very rural area of Northern California until retirement. Our entire "clan" moved together in 2004 with our married children and their families to Greeneville, Tennessee. Since moving we have adopted or been raising six additional children for the last 9 years. We have 15 grandchildren,(one great grand child on the way) and six adult children, with most living in the greater Greeneville area. Several other relatives, families and friends, have made the move to Tennessee in the years that followed. It has been a wonderful, rural area to watch the grand kids growing up. They now range in age from 19 yrs to 1 year.

Bill or Cindy Davis purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Bill or Cindy Davis chose Blue Ridge Mountains

We fell in love with this large home on our first visit, and were the new owners, just days later. The three story Lodge originally was a 10 bedroom Lodge. We had never seen a cabin built with the huge timbers, all harvested from the property itself. We created 3 master suites causing the reduction in the number of bedrooms. With our immediate family hovering at about 35, this cabin was just ideal for us. There are four large separate gathering areas causing large groups to be able and meet without feeling closed in. After a few years of owning the cabin we decided to try renting it. About 90% of our guests come as part of a family reunion, while the remainder typically consist of Church or Business retreats.

What makes this cabin unique

We get comments each week from guests about the many features of the Lodge they loved. The ability to seat your entire group together at the same table is always one of the favorite features at the cabin. The three Master Suites with their own private bathrooms are a great bonus. The availability of the ample supply of other bathrooms makes waiting in line no problem at the Lodge. With end of the road privacy and plenty of room outdoors, there is NEVER a feeling of being crowded. There is also plenty of room for several vehicles as well as your fifth wheel, motor home, or church bus.

Fantastic experience! Can't wait to rent again next year!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group up to the cabin for a weekend getaway and found it to be the perfect spot. The house was large enough for a big group to spread out and get comfortable, and the size of the kitchen was very helpful with 2 refrigerators and a huge table. There was also lots of room for hanging out and playing air hockey, pool, enjoying the hot tub, and watching March Madness on the big screen. The house was in great shape and had everything we needed (linens, dishes, etc.). Great porch/deck for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a getaway to the area. Big or small, it's perfect for any group. A+++++

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments Matt. I know that it is difficult to find the time to write a review unless you were disappointed about your stay. Your group is always welcome to stay with us. I remember my cleaning crew saying that the cabin was left almost as clean as it was when you arrived. In their eyes, that would officially make you "group #1" as far as Men's Church Groups are concerned. We are very glad that the Lodge continues to work out so well for your retreats. I noticed that your group is scheduled to stay with us again, in the near future. I hope that our level of cleanliness and the amenities we offer will continue to be Thanks again Bill & Cindy Davis

Family time!

  • 5 of 5

Because our family is spread in a few states, we picked this area to meet midway between.

There were 27 of us and this cabin worked great! The kitchen is well supplied with lots of dishes, pots and pans etc.. Nice places to assemble and visit and of course the kids loved the basement.

Thanks Bill and Cindy for a nice clean place

Our stayed at Davis family lodge

  • 5 of 5

I had a group of 20 that accompanied me to this beautiful cabin. Mr Bill was very helpful and always responded to my email in a timely manner. The view from the cabin is absolutely beautiful. Very peaceful, relaxing. The accommodation was exactly what I thought it would be based upon pictures. We would recommend four wheel drive. We had alot of fun..

Experience was not so great

  • 1 of 5

First off, we had an issue with the second portion of our deposit coming out of my account 5 days early. On the way to the cabin, the owner emailed us the entire time traveling there indicating the driveway was bumpy due to the previous group spinning tires. We arrived to the cabin and it took is nearly an hour to get 6 vehicles up the cabin. We called the owner, he pretended that this had never been an issue, apologized, and promised us lunch that we never received. We had to call him the next day to see when the guy would come out to fix the driveway issue. He explained that the guy would be out that evening. Five minutes later, some showed up with a small tractor and pretty much made the situation worse. The owner claimed he's never heard anyone not being to get up the driveway. After reading the details if the cabin a few hours later, it stated that he receives calls at least twice a year for people not being able to get up the driveway. We were basically trapped in the cabin for fear of not being able to get back to the driveway. We never received another call, email, or anything the rest of our stay. The cabin was nice size, but we were choked out from the smell of the kerosene. We were never offered part of our money back or anything. I am very displeased about my stay here, and will not recommend it to anyone, especially if they don't have a 4 wheel drive. I feel we should at least receive the refundable yeah deposit back, and also a portion of the fee for staying, but I haven't heard anything from the unconcerned owner.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry you were not happy with a portion of your stay at the cabin. We try our best to make every groups stay exceed what they expected it would be. It is very difficult to write a response to a review without sounding negative. This is especially true when I believe some information was a bit skewed. This guest seemed like a very nice lady as well as one of the gentlemen in the group I spoke with. If this is her true perception of their stay, then I am sorry they felt this way. That is all that I will say. Please allow our reviews for the past nine years speak for themselves. We are always trying to improve every guests stay and are constantly asking guests, for suggestions to do so. With that in mind, we have just had a new complete layer of road material placed on the driveway. We then had a large vibrating roller come in and compact the driving surface. The last short section of our driveway is at a slight incline. We have intentionally left it this way to provide for better traction in the winter months. Driving on gravel is a bit different than driving on pavement. Almost all guest compensate and have no problem enjoying their stay at the Lodge. We hope that you have the time to glance at our overall rating and reviews, for these past several years. If you have any question whatsoever, please send me an email through Home Away/VRBO. I am happy to answer any, as quickly as possible. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Bill & Cindy

Another terrific visit!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin for a second year in a row and we're pleased to find it just as we had remembered. The layout is perfect for large groups with plenty of room to spread out as well as congregate. Huge kitchen makes meals easy and the front porch is a perfect place to enjoy some mountain views while relaxing. The basement was a great hangout spot for watching basketball and playing pool and air hockey. Something for everyone!

The highest compliment we can receive, is a family or group booking additional stays with us. Your group has always left the cabin extremely clean when checking out. You are welcome to return at any time. We hope to see you again very soon. .Bill & Cindy

Fantastic fully equipped cabin that's perfect for a large group!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 17 adults had a wonderful time at this private well maintained cabin in the NC mountains. The high-points of our stay included the hot tub at night, a billiards tournament on an excellent table, our perfectly cooked steak dinner cooked on the grill and plenty of space to relax in multiple locations throughout the facility.

The very large kitchen has a food prep room that we found especially helpful and the 20 seat table was absolutely perfect for handling our large group. Bill was very accommodating and quick to return our messages and did everything possible to make our stay extra special. Having been to many places over the years, I have grown to appreciate owners that care about the comfort to those renting. Bill exceeded my expectations and so did the Cabin!

This place can be summed up in one word: AWESOME!
