Great location!

This apartment was ideal for us. In downtown St Pete it is near the pier and near my sister in old Northeast. Crescent Lake is a short walk. The weather was beautiful and our stay was terrific. The easy access off of 275 made it essy to get there and out to the beach.

Great place to stay

Our stay was great. The house is super cool and in a great location. The house was fully stocked with everything you would need from towels to coffee 😉. Parking was a bit tricky but once we parked we didn’t move our car the whole time (4 days) we got around by the VEO electric bikes, which had a spot very close to the house. We will definitely be back.

Convenient, nice spot in St. Pete

We stayed here with our daughter, son-in-law and baby girl. The layout of the rooms is excellent! Bedrooms are separate from the living area, which is huge and very comfortable. Our daughter really appreciated the small nursery attached to the master bedroom. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful property in historic uptown St Pete within walking distance of some great little restaurants and destinations. This was the perfect quiet neighborhood for our groomsmen to stay at. Great location for Tampa Ray Baseball

We had two couples stay at the home. The house location is close to everything. We were there for two games, so we were out most of the time. There are a couple of issues that should be addressed, but not anything that should keep people from renting. The Host was very responsive and we have no complaints. I know those issues will be fixed soon.

Home away from home

We only stayed late Saturday through Monday morning. One full day in downtown St. Pete on Sunday. Overall the unit and property was very comfortable. Easy check in process, the beds were comfortable for me and my husband, and the room was nice and dark for sleeping in. It is historic home, so lots of floor and door creeks, but otherwise nicely updated and decorated. The backyard was a nice safe spot to relax. We had no issues parking in front of the home and we did walk 15-20min for things to do. We did not have any urgent issues that needed the hosts help, but otherwise the communication was good. Having a 2.5yr old with us, we found Paul’s Landing at The Vinoy for breakfast, The Hangar at the airport for lunch (a quick 7min drive), the Green Bench for afternoon drinks so our son could run around, and Fresco’s for dinner on the water were all great kid friendly for our family. Breakfast at Flatbread and Butter was close walk nearby.

A good home base

This property provided a great home base for us to use while we attended a swim meet at the North Sore Aquatic Center. It was convenient to the pool, many restaurants, shopping, and not far from the beaches either. It’s location was perfect for our trip! I was worried about the on street parking, but we were able to find close spots for both of our vehicles each night. The biggest issue we encountered was that the downstairs apartment was being renovated during our stay. This resulted in some extra noise, and other small inconveniences. However the owner, Shaun, was extremely good about responding to emails and tried hard to take care of any issues caused by his workmen. He even offered to buy us pizza one evening in return for our inconvenience. We greatly appreciated his attempts to make sure we were comfortable during our stay. We enjoyed our week in St. Petersburg!

Event Weekend in St Pete

I booked this trip in May of 2024, almost a year in advance. The listing is “Entire home, Uptown-Quiet Charming Central Historic Bungalow” Vinoy Park a 17 minute walk. We were attending a festival at Vinoy Park. The walk is not even close to 17 minutes.A few days before arrival, I was checking the reservation to verify the address. The listing now says “Quaint historic Upstairs Apartment in downtown St Pete”I immediately questioned the change in listing. I was told I was mistaken. However, I printed the page when I booked. I was not mistaken. While the property was just “OK” for an old house, it was not what I booked. There was also steep stairs to enter the “quaint apartment”. I have a bad knee. I would never have booked an apartment that could only be entered through a steep, narrow stairway. This should absolutely be noted on the property detail. We are two upper middle class couples that travel frequently and we would not have booked this listing if the property was honestly described.

Great location and cute historic house.

5th on 5ths is nice place and good location. I had some difficulties messaging the host and never had my question answered as to why the night I was staying was more than double their normal booking costs. I guess shame on me for not doing more research before booking. I feel like they completely dodged the question. The place was ok, a few issues I had that the washer machine didn't work, not a huge deal for my short stay but I could see if you were staying longer that would be an issue. There was a huge piece of plaster missing from the ceiling, I get it, its an old house, but that's part of the upkeep. My biggest peeve was a plaque that was in the house where the host was trying to coerce guests into leaving 5 star reviews because anything less than 5 stars equals a terrible stay.

Spacious historic home

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this lovely historic apartment. Beautifully decorated with a modern touch, yet maintaining the historic charm of this home. The beds are comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet for a good nights sleep. While I did not cook, the kitchen certainly had everything I needed and appeared to have everything needed to cook a family meal. Speaking of family- this apartment is gracious plenty large enough for a family to be very comfortable. The only thing that I would mention is this is an upstairs unit and there is no landing at the door leading into the apartment. It was not a problem for me, but if anyone has an issue getting up and down stairs it could be. However, I did notice there is a downstairs unit that looks equally as lovely as the upstairs one so there are choices! Overall I highly recommend this home. It was central to everywhere I needed to go. I did not have a chance to explore downtown this time since I was down for family matters, but when I return I will take full advantage of this GREAT location.

Not as advertised

The listing claimed the apartment slept 7. This was not the case. There were 3 queen beds and a crib. While only 5 of us (including a 12 year old boy and 15 year old girl), we still needed to use the tattered sectional as a bed. The apartment was not well maintained. The windows and screens were filthy and at least a couple of the window sashes were broken. Opening those windows that worked exposed you to window wells that were filled with dirt and soot. I can only assume that the vents and filters in the heating/cooling system were no cleaner. A couple of days before our arrival, we were notified that there was a roof leak that damaged the ceiling in the living room. While we could live with that, we had to deal with a management agent coming to the apartment with contractors trying to gain entry to look at the ceiling damage. At the time, the two grandchildren were at the apartment and the adults were running errands. Despite not speaking to us beforehand, they came to the apartment anyways and one of the contractors went so far as to climb on to the roof to look in the window to see the damage. Inexcusable behavior.

Great stay for a family weekend

We attended our daughter's graduation from Eckerd College last weekend and housed most of our family at this property. It has great proximity to the St. Petersburg waterfront and the fun shops and restaurants. Funky Central Avenue and the lovely lake-centered parks of the 1920s neighborhoods are all close by. Property was clean, spacious and well-appointed. The owners are incredibly responsive. If you are going to St. Petersburg and do not want the logistics and crowds of the beaches, this is a great option!

Roomy, great porch and wonderful walkable location!

Upon arrival, house needed extra tidying, but landlord very responsive. Everything else was terrific. The location feels safe and is walkable to everywhere. The house is roomy, beds comfortable and kitchen/laundry has most everything you will need. I've already re-rented for next year.

About the host

Host profile image
We are local hosts who take pride in offering thoughtfully cared-for homes that are comfortable, clean, and easy to enjoy. We’ve designed The Banyan House specifically for families and groups, making sure everyone has space to relax while still being able to spend time together.
We live nearby and are available if you need anything during your stay, while always respecting your privacy. From the moment you book through checkout, our goal is to make your visit smooth, welcoming, and stress-free.
We love St. Petersburg and are happy to share local recommendations, from favorite coffee spots to restaurants, parks, and things to do around the city. Whether you’re visiting for a short getaway or a longer stay, we want you to feel at home and well taken care of.

Why they chose this property

We chose the Uptown neighborhood because it offers the best balance of charm, walkability, and proximity to everything that makes St. Petersburg special. Uptown is one of the city’s most established historic neighborhoods, known for its tree-lined streets, beautiful homes, and relaxed residential feel.
From the house, guests can walk to parks, coffee shops, and neighborhood dining, while still being just minutes from downtown, the waterfront, Central Avenue, and the city’s museums and cultural attractions. It feels peaceful and local, yet never isolated.
Uptown is especially well suited for families and groups because it is quiet, welcoming, and easy to navigate, making it a comfortable home base whether you are visiting for a few days or staying longer.

What makes this property unique

What makes this property truly unique is the combination of scale, flexibility, and location. It offers something rarely found in the Uptown neighborhood: multiple self-contained living spaces on one property, reserved entirely for a single group.
The layout allows guests to stay together while still enjoying private kitchens, living areas, and bedrooms, making it ideal for families, multi-generational travel, group trips, and hosted stays. This flexibility sets the property apart from standard single-home rentals.
In addition to its size and layout, the property features outdoor spaces that are uncommon for a walkable historic neighborhood, including a welcoming front porch and a large garden deck. These spaces allow guests to relax and gather outdoors while remaining close to the home.
