Beds and couch was horrible and very uncomfortable and the pool was closed 2 1/2 days due to staffing issues, probably will not return to Sleepy Hollow again

I am sorry that you were not pleased with your accommodations, however the pool was not closed for 2 1/2 days. I personally spoke with you and explained that the lifeguard that was to work the afternoon shift became violently ill while on property just before her shift. The pool was open that day for the first five hours. Our goal is to never have to shorten normal pool hours, however by code we must have Lifeguards whenever the pool is open, so beyond our control if someone becomes ill at last minute. Sometimes we do have to alter the opening hours but whenever possible will give everyone advance notice of new pool hours allowing our guests to either enjoy the pool, or head down to the lake & enjoy the water there as well, as we are the only resort in South Haven with direct beach access! We have never received any negative comments about the beds or couch in that unit, and both are less than 3 years old.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Patio 23 is the perfect size for our family of 4. We love the location and that we're able to be close to other members of our party. The cleaners did a wonderful job cleaning the unit. However, we weren't able to access the unit on the first day until 6pm because they were running behind. No one was in the office for us to talk to at check in. The unit has all the items we need in terms of kitchen supplies and furniture but the rugs and couch are starting to look pretty worn/permanently dirty. We're glad that Sleepy Hollow has continued the morning arts & crafts. The kids always like the tie dye and the picture frames. Please consider bringing back more engaging activities like the scavenger hunt!

It was our first time staying in 23. It is a very nice condo. Overall it had everything that we needed. It has plenty of space and both a front and back patio that are both perfect for relaxing or enjoying a meal. We would definitely stay here again. (It would be great if they added some hooks inside to hang towels and perhaps a few cookies sheets in the kitchen)

Nice cozy house

The house is fairly small, and sleeps 6, but it has a fully functioning kitchen and a table that seats 6. The house is very well maintained and looks like it has recently been remodeled. The style is modern-day. The house itself is not right on the beach, but Sleepy Hollow resort is, so it is a short walk to the very north side of the beach. We did not use any of the resort amenities, but they did look nice. The only negative is that there was a lot of sand on the floor from previous guests and I spent a lot of time sweeping it up

Enjoyed the week - but the beach is gone

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have now stayed a Sleepy Hollow each of the last 5 years. Due to rising water levels on Lake Michigan, the beautiful beach that we enjoyed (and did not mind paying a premium for)has completely eroded away. The property offers many other positive experiences for our family, such as the large beautiful pool, the structured kids activities staffed by counselors, kids playground and bicycles and the privacy and security of staying inside the Sleepy Hollow gates. We had a nice week, however the private beach used to be the greatest benefit to our family. Public beaches in the area are still abundant, however much less convenient, much more crowded, and more stressful with small children. I would say that a price adjustment is in order as a result of the change in beach availability. It was noticeable that resort occupancy was lower this year than at the same time of previous years. If you were coming for the beach, you are probably shopping VRBO for a place closer to a public beach at this point. Regarding our specific unit, it was a nice two bedroom place that met our needs. The kitchen was very nice and laundry was available in unit. Some of the furniture could be improved. Suggestions would be bunk beds in the second bedroom and new stools for the breakfast bar (current stools appeared to be unsturdy so we placed them in a closet for the week and did not allow the children to use them). A gas grill would also be nice, it would be cleaner and our kids are not used to the smoke and flavor of charcoal.

We enjoyed the private beach area even though there was only a few feet of it left with the height of the lake. We wish we can book for partial week and bring our pets, but that are all very minor compared to our wonderful stay!

I would’ve rated 5 stars for everything a couple yr ago. However, the private “ beach” resort you pay a premium for is gone. There is literally no beach due to erosion last few yrs. We had to drive to the public beach. Also, sleepy hollow prices have not lowered at all to compensate for having zero beach now :( which was a big draw for us booking every yr. Unit 23 is lovely, and would stay there again, my only complaint is the patio & patio furniture is unusable, would be nice to have that area cleaned to enjoy. I wrote “no”to recommend due to no longer a private beach & prices continue to be the same even w/ the beach gone. Not Bc dissatisfied w/ this particular unit.

Wonderfully Relaxing Week

The pool, beach, playground, tennis courts, and fire ring all provided our family with hours of fun. The programming for kids kept our 5 year old very entertained and gave us so nice downtime. The tennis lessons were a big highlight. Unit 23 was well appointed and very comfortable. Looking forward to going back next year.

Nice Stay, would like better amenities for the price

Reviewer Comments: The stay was nice, however the sheets and pillow cases had holes, we asked for extra blanket we never received and when I washed the sheets on my own in the condo the mattress pad was stained to an unsettling level. It would be nice to have an ice machinery for guests or some other amenities as the price is a lot.

The only problem was they said dogs were not allowed but my daughters room had dog hair Everywhere ! It was told to her the the owner of that unit had two large dogs . My daughter was highly allergic and spent much of her time with red hives and breathing problems

This is an EXCELLENT place for kids to play, and adults to relax! Its a gated resort, and we love that there are daily activities for the kids! The beach is beautiful and private, and the staff is super nice! The rentals that we had were great except for 1 that did not have as much stocked kitchen materials that we would have preferred and the internet connection was out. We had a nice stay anyway but will not rent that unit again.

Year After Year Good Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to Sleepy Hollow for 48 years with family and extended family. The grounds have been beautifully kept; flowers around the pool area are gorgeous. The staff was helpful and friendly with every need and request, especially Jackie, but all in the office and around the grounds. Sports area is especially improved, with many sports for all ages to take part in, and the bikes to sign for are in very good shape and made the vacation extra special for my grandson and granddaughters. Cottages are in beautiful condition, with all desired amenities. We will be returning for as many years as we can.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We just had a mini-family reunion at Sleepy Hollow, which a family member found online. It is a great place! Our family rented a 3 bedroom, two 2 bedroom, and a 1 bedroom cottages. They were all different, but each had something special to offer. The grounds were immaculate and beautiful, with so much to do. We were concerned about swimming with cool weather, but the sheltered, heated pool made it pleasant. Jackie, the main office person, was a delight to work with, and so helpful. Unfortunately, the other office staff members have a lot to learn.
