About Chris Hansen
Since 1995, we have been an 'Interlochen Family'. We looked for a perfect place to buy for years until we finally found our 'dream' cottage on Green Lake, one mile from Interlochen in 2002. We love sharing our home with other Interlochen families, and with folks simply interested in exploring the arts and the lake, all year round!

Peaceful, Serence -- everything we wanted!
SUCH a warm, inviting, cozy and spacious cabin! We came with our 4 children and enjoyed every moment together. The cottage is well stocked with everything we needed. It was warm, clean, and with a beautiful view of the lake. We're here in March -- the lake was still mostly frozen and it was breathtakingly beautiful. My kids loved tossing rocks into the lake, cracking the ice, watching the birds. The sunrises were unmatched and the songbirds were our alarm clocks! We loved sitting around the outdoor fire in the front yard at night. Traverse City is close by with yummy restaurants and hip downtown, and we loved visiting the Sleeping Bear Dunes.
We felt very peaceful and safe at this location. We can't wait to come back!
Cozy cottage and perfect winter getaway!
Our family stayed here in February when our girls had a short winter break from school. This place really didn't disappoint. Our girls are teenagers, so while we had awesome family time throughout the day shopping in Traverse City, it was really nice to come back in the evening to everyone having their own space at our "own place," and cook a nice homemade dinner as opposed to having to find somewhere to eat. From the outside it just seems like a tiny little cabin, but was very surprised at how spacious it actually was inside. We would have had plenty of room even with a couple of more people! It was so nice enjoying some family game time in front of the cozy fireplace in the evening...and in fact, I don't think we had the TV on he entire time. Just some music, wine & family time. Absolutely loved the furniture and décor. It definitely felt like vacation. I loved the view of the frozen lake from the upstairs bedroom too. Would have loved to have an opportunity to have done some ice fishing as we heard there is some decent fishing on this lake, but it was a bit windy when we were there...maybe next time!
nice place by the water
Nice place for the money. Fireplace was nice to have in the winter. Wifi was good. Beds were very comfortable. This place is probably pretty neat in the summer as it's right by the water and has a nice front porch which looks out to the water.
Only takes about 30min to get downtown Traverse City and about 30 min to get to the dunes.
A quiet and perfect winter getaway!
Quiet House in the Semi-woods
Great spot. Enjoyed our stay.
Comfortable, well-equipped and convenient to lots of what NW Michigan has to offer
We felt comfortable and at home pretty much immediately. This rental home isn't fussed over--it's actually rather dated in some ways--but very much a great place to come inside and relax. The home was very clean and everything was in excellent working order. The home is also abundantly supplied, making groceries about the only thing we needed to provide. Our late September visit coincided with unusually warm 90-degree weather, but the shady location and ceiling and box fans helped keep the home sufficiently cool. Being just a few hundred feet from the shore of Green Lake was a delight; in just a minute we could be at the lake deck or in the lake to cool off--and like all of the waters we saw in that part of Michigan, you could see everything underfoot because the water was sparkling clear. Sunsets were spectacular (though we were on the wrong side of the lake to see the sun itself), and if you want to see the Milky Way after dark, this is a great place for that. The home's owner was a very gracious (if geographically remote) host and provided very useful, detailed information a few days ahead of our visit. This was our first trip to the NW part of Michigan, and due to our experience at the rental home in Interlochen and the wonderful surroundings to explore, we will be returning to the area someday to see more. Thank you!
