NEAR ARIZONA TRAIL, FOREST ADJACENT
Nestled deep in cool Coconino National Forest between the Grand Canyon (56 miles) and Flagstaff's Snow Bowl (19 miles). You choose whether to nest in the cozy cottage or explore the adjacent woods and trails. Hunters will be in AZ Fish and Game Unit 7E. November, December and January generally closed due to snow. If you can independently handle bad roads and lots of snow, inquire about desired dates. Home is off the grid: electric power comes from solar panels, propane for cooking and heating. The rain water collected for washing and flushing is non-potable. Drinking water is stocked. AT&T and Verizon users get a signal . . . but you can always turn your phone off. There is secure WiFi. You'll need a sturdy vehicle (pickup or 4 wheel drive recommended) to travel the seven miles of dirt road. The drive is slow but provides lovely vistas and opportunities to spot deer, elk and antelope. Sleeps up to 6: 1 queen bed, bunk beds, futon and hide-a-bed in the couch. The cabin is very nice and comfortable. The forest service road going back to the cabin is slow going and bumpy. However, the scenery and views make the trip worthwhile.
Wonderful cabin in a perfect location. All directions were easy to follow, and owner/manager was extremely helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend booking this cabin and can't wait to book it again when I draw another deer tag.
Linda's place is just what we were looking for- as quiet as anyplace I've ever been, surrounded by beautiful nature and places to walk and hike, comfortable facilities just as described with lots of amenities. Her binder of information covers anything you could possibly have a question about. We ended our 5 days happy, relaxed and looking forward to going back again!
My partner, two canines and a cat had a wonderful time! The cabin is beautiful and comfy. All our needs were met! We were definitely off the grid and enjoyed the peace and quiet!
The outside property was beautiful and perfect to relax , providing lots of space for our dogs to play and cat to enjoy chasing lizards and butterflies.
The surrounding area was spectacular and we enjoyed lots of hiking trails and stunning views. Will definitely be back!!! Thank you 🙏🏻 💜
Had a great time staying at the cottage. Everything from the fireplace to the hot water was great. Would recommend to anyone who just wants to chill and relax. We were visiting different spots (Sedona and Grand Canyon) which was great because the location was in the middle of spots we wanted to visited. Only draw back was having to come back early before it got dark just not to get lost or broken down from the main highway to the cottage 5 miles away. Other than that it was a great place to stay and Linda, cottage owner/manager, was awesome. She was just a phone call or text away!
We enjoyed the cabin. It was a nice cabin. I am not sure if we were the first to stay for the season, but it had not been swept in the bedrooms and the shower was full of cobwebs. After taking care of those, we had a great time playing horseshoes and other games when we got back to the cabin. I may have not read the property description close enough but you do have to worry about water and electricity consumption. For me, that was a little stressful but everything worked out and we had fun. Thank you Linda for allowing us to stay!!
We loved the property size and location. So quiet in the neighborhood, except for the dogs off in the distance howling every morning like clock work. We didn’t mind though. It was nice opening the windows and watching the storms roll through. Nice eating out on the patio. Solar panels for electricity was an adjustment for us, but our host was very responsive and clear on instructions for starting the generator. Beautiful view of Humphreys peak. Long dirt drive from the main road, but was well maintained and had beautiful views and occasional wildlife. Would most definitely stay again in the future! Thank you Linda for all of your communication before and throughout our stay.
Home was nestled in the woods about 6 miles from 180. It is conveniently located between Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon and quite close to the Lava Cave. Home is well furnished and owner is extremely responsive to all questions. The owner also provided a very thorough set of instructions and suggested fun local activities. If you are looking for a quiet and scenic location that has reasonable access to the Canyon I would highly recommend. Only downside we had during our stay is the power kept going off (I believe it was due to high winds and things being dependent on solar power). Regardless, the owner left detailed instructions on how to trip the inverter and it worked everytime - just a bit annoying.
We enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay at this beautiful property. The area is very private and perfect for a quiet getaway. The surrounding national Forest offers many opportunities for exploring Northern Arizona. We had a wonderful time. Thank you!
Overall great place to stay if you’re looking to get off the grid. We had some issues with the solar power but host was able to help us out when we needed it.
Amazing Stay! Secluded, Peaceful, and Great for Stargazing
We had a wonderful stay at this cozy cottage in Flagstaff! The location is about six miles off the main road, but the off-roading wasn’t bad at all. At first, navigating was a bit confusing, and I was worried about losing phone service, but it was only for a short time. We didn’t have any trouble finding the place in the end.Upon arrival, the cottage was clean, warm, and inviting. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, though we brought our own food to cook. Being that far from the city, I was pleasantly surprised that we had good phone service and strong internet. There was a brief moment of connectivity issues, but I believe it was due to the wind.We brought our two dogs with us, and they absolutely loved it—they didn’t want to leave! The peaceful, secluded location was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary. The lack of light pollution made for an incredible stargazing experience, which was one of the highlights of our stay. The kitchen was well-stocked, and cooking was a breeze. I especially appreciated the big gas range—it was easy to use and had everything I needed to prepare meals. The host was very nice and easy to communicate with, which made our stay even better!Overall, we had an amazing time and are looking forward to coming back again. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy a relaxing getaway!
We were looking for a quiet, nature retreat. This cabin was an absolute perfect fit. Super quiet, no close neighbors, space to go outside relax, hike, roam, and still be alone. Cabin has all the comforts of home plus extras for indoor entertainment and outdoor fun. Cozy atmosphere with the indoor fire. All areas were exceptionally clean. Communication with property owner was excellent, quick responses. Highly recommend and hope to return!
We had a great stay! The cabin is well-maintained, comfortable, and well-stocked. It was quiet and secluded, there are neighbors but they aren't close. Linda gave detailed directions to get to the cabin and instructions on how to open the cabin, making the process easy and hassle-free. She has a lot of games and activities to entertain kids. The wifi worked and we had a cell signal the entire trip. We saw a lot of wildlife and had fantastic hikes in the adjoining National Forest. We had fun playing horseshoes, making smores on the campfire, and stargazing. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful property with mountain views. Very clean & centralized location for everything we wanted to see. Owner was in constant contact with us and was very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend this place!
If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place. Remote AND off the grid, this is exactly what we were looking for. Linda was very responsive if we had questions. Neat, clean, well stocked with good quality kitchen assessories as well as the best linens for the bathroom and bedrooms. No problems with the electric, plenty of water and we were warm. So interesting how everything worked. Lots of good walking and hiking areas. Plenty of movies, games and horseshoes in the backyard. You get exactly how this sweet gem is described. We didn't want to leave and our Lab, Annabelle, didn't want to either.
This cottage is exactly what anyone could want to unplug from society and have some quiet time with nature. The cottage itself has everything for basic comforts you could need, and Linda provides a very detailed manual on how to operate the ins and outs of the cottage very easily.
I’m very happy with this stay and I cannot wait to come back.
Staying at this location was an amazing experience! The views were phenomenal and the cabin was cozy. The host made our experience very comfortable and was available if needed. We would definitely come back again!
If you want to stay off the beaten path this is the spot for you. The cottage was devine and I have never felt so welcome by a host. The host left a smore kit and an fairy garden kit for my kids to enjoy. Property was clean, updated, quiet and just amazing and I wish my travel plans afforded more time. This property does run on solar power and rain water, host does give more portable water then you could drink. But as a Midwest girl it really put things in perspective of all the things I take for granted. You do need a sturdy vehicle to get down the dirt road. On the way you will see so many animals and wonderful views of the mountains. Google will try to give you shortcuts on mountain passages, I would not recommend those roads, unless really adventurous with 4 wheel drive, but take the main directions in and out. The host gives great directions and is easy to contact. We had five bars and excellent phone service with Verizon, if you have a teenager as I do, you know the story, but we connected as a family. Also you are in the national park, if I had more time I would of hiked for days! Also just an hour away from grand canyon, we did a day trip to the park and this property was perfect instead of paying for an overpriced hotel! Go, book!
Linda super fun to communicate with...FYI closest Starbucks is 23 miles away in Flagstaff! This wonderful place was exactly what we wanted. Very quiet, remote and peaceful (except for the coyotes that wake you in the morning!). We LOVED it! Perfect location to a lot of hikes including the forest roads right behind the house. House well-stocked. Had everything you need AND very very clean! If you are looking for a nice place to get away from a hectic life...THIS is it! Enjoy the following...Aspen Corner hike, Lake Bismarck hike, Walker Lake rim hike and Red Mtn hike. Don't forget to get a 4-wheel drive jeep and explore all the forest roads. Linda has a good paper map at the house. We fully intend to go back again...can't wait. GREAT area AND house!!!
Beautiful views, peace and quiet, tons to explore around property as well as within 2hours.
Stunning views of San Francisco Peaks. Grand Canyon is about 90 mins away. Very windy most days, which I learned is typical of Spring in N Arizona. We saw a large herd of elk, heard coyotes for several nights, and were delighted by cottontail bunnies hopping about.
