About the property

3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 6

***** FALL SPECIAL: $200 MID-WEEK NIGHTLY RATE *****

Our home is right in the heart of wine country and overlooks the lake from the east side, so the views are amazing and the sunsets are often filled with spectacular colors. Set among summer cottages and homes in a rustic/country-style neighborhood, our property has 70 feet of spacious lake frontage and a 10 foot wide dock. Depending on the weather and day of the week, the atmosphere on this uncongested lake ranges from calm and peaceful to joyful and fun.

Our home is fully furnished and features an Arts & Crafts-style living room. The master bedroom, living room, and especially the dining room (with its eight windows) have broad views of the lake/sunsets. The community areas are large too (living room: 17' x 22', kitchen and dining room: 22' x 22'). Up to six people can sleep comfortably in the three bedrooms with two queen and two twin beds. The kitchen is fully stocked and the house has air conditioning. There is enough parking for two or three vehicles.

Further Description:

Just outside the house is an intimate yard with a gas grill and a patio set that has cushioned seats and an umbrella. On the lakefront, there's a bonfire ring and a picnic table with an umbrella. You can borrow the owner's 2 kayaks, peddle boat, and row boat, as well as use the camp chairs that are kept in the boat shed. There's something for everyone, including swimming, boating, kayaking, long walks along a dirt road through vineyards, fishing, and romantic evenings watching the sunset and drinking local wine.

Amenities:

- full kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, cookware, and eating utensils

- satellite TV and DVD player in living room

- satellite TV in master bedroom

- high speed, wireless internet

- air conditioning

- clean linens provided

- 70 feet of lake frontage

- 10 foot wide dock

- area on lakefront for launching small boats (up to 14 feet long)

- clear, broad views of the lake/sunsets from the yard and from many rooms of the house

- parking for two or three vehicles

- three bedrooms with two queen and two twin beds

- in the yard is a gas grill and patio set with cushioned seats and an umbrella

- on the lake frontage, there's a bonfire ring and a picnic table with an umbrella. You can borrow the owner's two kayaks, peddle boat, and row boat, and use the life preservers and extra chairs that are kept in the boat shed

- access to the lake frontage from the yard is by way of a sturdy staircase or by a short road that goes around the neighborhood (about 1/4 mile to our frontage). The staircase has about 75 steps. The run for the steps is 11 inches, which is nice, and there are three decks with benches, in case anyone needs to rest or wants to see the view. It's also very handy to be able to drive down if you're carrying coolers, towels, etc., or are taking some small kids down all at once. The road is for limited use, especially on crowded weekends, but it is there when needed.

Great property - great area

  • 5 of 5

Cozy, clean with all the modern conveniences of home, including a wireless Internet connection. The views of the lake, especially the sunset are incredible. The waterfront area with dock is a short walk away with swimming, fishing, and boating (kayak and canoe provided) and just general relaxing by the water available. The area itself has lots of wineries, a great micro-brewery at Wagners and excellent restaurants within easy driving distance. All-in-all a wonderful vacation spot. Highly recommended!

A Stay on Seneca

  • 3 of 5

Overall, the stay was pleasant. It is a typical lake house that has lots of room.

The weather was so beautiful however, we wanted to spend most of it outdoors. But unfortunately, the outdoor furniture was not clean and the cushions were full of bugs and dirt, despite being put away in an outdoor bin. The exterior of the house was also full of spider webs and spiders in every corner, along every exterior wall, including the entryway. It wasn't comfortable to be around all that. All the windows had webs and spiders on the outside.

Having the beautiful lake to the West, we hoped to take in the Lake air with opening windows. But all but one kitchen window(and there were approx 7) were broken and could not be opened with big signs on them, "Do Not Open." This was a huge disappointment.

Having one bathroom was fine being that there were only 2 of us, then 4 for the 2nd night. But the pressure in the water was very weak. Ugh....what a nice hot shower can do to help one relax.

The lakeside dock and fire pit were the best part! Close to the water and peddle boat was a fun treat. The stairs to the lakeside below are sturdy. Unfortunately, none of the lighting, that illuminated the stairs, worked.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We didn't realize that the water pressure has been weak. That's not normal for this house, so we will look at that right away, and get it back up to a good pressure. We will be sure to clean the patio set cushions and table right away too, as well as the spider webs on the outside of the house, especially around the entrance. Please note that there are two screen doors in the kitchen/dining room that provide for a great cross-breeze to flow, so when the doors are open, I would imagine many of our guests don't really feel a strong need to open the eight windows in the dining room. They do provide for an amazing view though.

Lake House on Seneca Lake

  • 5 of 5

Great location on Seneca Lake - 3 bedroom home within minutes of several wineries and breweries. The stairs to the lake are exactly as described - pre plan what you'll need by the lake and you'll be fine . You can also drive to the lake / reserved dock area but no where to really park . We did drive down once to drop off our firewood . Everything was great and the house really does come well equiped with everything you'll need for your stay . Nice that our dogs were also welcome - they loved swimming in the lake. Great time !

Great as always!

  • 5 of 5

It was a pleasure to stay here again. Mary was very accommodating of our needs and I'm happy to have booked with her for a third time. I hope we are able to stay again sometime next year, it's a great cottage in a beautiful and remote location.
