Perfect, It had everything we needed!!!!
The house was perfect for the 6 of us. 3 nice sized bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a quarter bathroom. Boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, hats, beach chairs. Provided everything....we went to Costco to stock up on the main food but they were stocked with spices and laundry soap. Great communication, quick response. We loved the house and had a wonderful time in Kauai!!!! Best family vacation ever!!!!
convenient, short drive to beach, shopping, gardens, attractions. Loved Old Town Koloa. Previous renters left an excess of garbage some of which was not discovered until the carport started to smell.
Home away from home.
Super comfortable, super clean, very well furnished house .5 miles from beach. Stayed 9 days, mostly cooking in. Easy access to Poipu beaches; check out the green sea turtles and seals in Poipu Beach park. Enjoy the Aloha atmosphere.
Had everything imaginable included in home
Very well equipped kitchen, but no dishwasher. Paper plates helped alleviate washing dishes ! Owner was easy to work with. Located in older suburban neighborhood, but inside of home has been mostly updated. NO A.C., if you're visiting in summer, but in January, the ceiling fans were adequate. Internet was spotty, as one device worked well, but other computer would not pick up internet signal at all. Overall, this house was a very good value and we would recommend it.
We were very impressed by the layout of the house and we enjoyed staying there. It is in a great location. The bedrooms were perfect for everyone to rest comfortably.
So great to have you come for a visit. I’m so glad you found our home comfortable for your vacation. Please visit us again!
Great house, but we also had some issues come up
This house was great for us, and we debated amongst ourselves on whether it should have 3 or 4 stars. It was decided that 3 stars was more appropriate, because while the problems we had didn't bother us much they could really bother some other people. Pros and Cons below.
Pros: Local neighborhood (it was quiet, and close to everything in Poipu/Koloa), great back yard (we would lay on blankets and star gaze at night, even saw shooting stars! Hosted a BBQ for our family one night that we're staying elsewhere in Poipu), lots of fans to help keep the air circulating, provided two awesome boogie boards (other large one was broken, and the others were small), a lot of beach chairs, two grills, spacious living area, two car driveway, etc.
Cons: Mice in the house. When we arrived, we found mouse droppings throughout the master bedroom dresser, in a hall closet, and in the hide-a-bed. Property Management came over the following morning to vacuum them up and lay sticky traps, and told us to contact them if we caught anything. We didn't end up using the hide a bed, because it didn't feel sanitary to just have it vacuumed. But the couch in the living room was perfectly comfy! A mouse did end up getting caught on a sticky trap. When we contacted property management to remove it, he asked if we could just throw it in the trash. Keep in mind, the mouse was still alive. And why ask us to contact him, if he was just going to have us handle it? I ended up taking it to the furthest back part of the yard and was able to free it using coconut oil.
There were no paper towels (property management brought some on Thursday, but we had checked in Monday so we had bought our own by then), no pepper in kitchen (bought that too), tv remote's batteries were dead, one of the garage openers didn't work, and no wifi password provided. We got the password eventually, only to then have the wifi stop working. Tuesday-Thursday we didn't have wifi, they came to give us a new modem/router Thursday evening. But failed to leave the new password for us, we had left to a wedding while he was installing it. We were able to get the new password Friday morning. Volleyball/badminton net is broken, badminton rackets broken.
Honestly, we would stay here again. We loved the house and loved Kauai. But we also wanted to be honest about the issues that came up during our stay.
Hale Ohana prides itself on being an affordable home away from home for our guests. We also try to provide a comfortable place with the main amenities of home so our guests can come for a budget friendly vacation.
It is situated in a quiet neighborhood and near an old sugar cane field in beautiful tropical Kauai. Unfortunately, with that comes some critters. We appreciated your patience and willingness to work through the challenges that came up during your stay. I'm so glad our housekeeper lives a couple doors away so that he could address your concerns very promptly.
We have made adjustments to our staffing expectations and have increased our pest control and have had no further issues.
We hope that you will join us again for a future visit as Hale Ohana will always be a comfortable lodging location away from home.
