Rustic Cabin with Spectacular Ocean View

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4 plus 2 in detached unit)

This 2 bedroom one bathroom family cabin was hand built by the present owners in the late 1950's. There is a cozy guest house next to the cabin with washer/dryer and another double bed. Over the years the cabin has been improved and restored to provide year round comfort, but still retains its rustic simplicity. It has a unique setting on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with the wooded hills of Oswald West State Park behind. It is a stunning and wild spot, with little sense of other human presence. An American Bald Eagle nests nearby and flies over regularly. Mice and raccoons also visit.

Pets are welcome with advance notice--there is a fee. To speed up the reservation process, please indicate in your initial inquiry if you are or are not bringing a dog so that we can adjust the quote. (If you don't say one way or the other, I will ask you.)

A fifteen minute walk takes you to the secluded and often rocky Falcon Cove beach while a ten minute drive provides all the village pleasures of Manzanita and Cannon Beach.

Please note that the cabin continues to be used as a vacation home by our family. We live close by, and do much of the cleaning and maintenance ourselves. We limit the number of guests to six, and ask you to keep the place tidy. Please let us know if you plan to bring a dog, or have more than four guests as our extra charges reflect the added wear and tear as well as the extra time it takes to clean.

Amazing views, cabin needs updating.

  • 3 of 5

Although our stay was wonderful, the cabin itself needs to be updated. We were greeted with an AMAZING FIVE STAR VIEW! However, when we entered the cabin we walked right into about 30 large black flies, spiders, cobwebs everywhere, and mice droppings (we would meet the mouse himself later). The bed linens hadn't been changed, or didn't seem fresh. There was a leak in the master bedroom roof. And lastly, the hot tub had debris and wasps in it.

All that aside, the place was in a great location and our son and two dogs had a great time. The place just needs a thorough cleaning.

Owner's Response: I appreciate this review because, although I don't agree with all of it, I do think it is important for folks to know that this is a cabin in the woods, and there is definitely the possibility of encountering wildlife: where you have an eagle that perches at eye level 50 feet off the deck, you also inevitably have spruce needles in the hot tub, and occasionally a mouse, a spider, and even a cobweb in the house. The bed-sheets this day, as always, were fresh, changed day of arrival, and interestingly this 100% cotton set was also hand mended. The cabin reflects our conservative and old fashioned approach—it is a clean and tidy but not an antiseptic house. We favor green cleaning products, using fragrance free laundry soap, and no dryer sheets. With no dishwasher or internet connection, the whole experience is a through-back to an earlier, less plugged in time all with a 5 star view!

My husband and I have been staying here for years. Have never stayed at a location quite like it. The seclusion and the views are absolutely amazing, breathtaking actually. We always leave feeling refreshed and revitalized. Thank you!

Beautiful views from hot tub

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at this cabin three years in a row because of the private setting with wonderful views from the hot tub. The cabin is simple but cozy and has a well-stocked kitchen. It's a 10-minute walk down to the beach.

The cabin is within walking distance of the Oregon Coast Trail that leads north to Arch Cape or south to Oswald West State Park. When the gray whales are migrating along the coast (winter and spring) careful watchers can see their spouts from the deck.
