Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 1 Bath

This 2 bedroom one bathroom family cabin was hand built by the present owners in the late 1950's. There is a cozy guest house next to the cabin with washer/dryer and another double bed. Over the years the cabin has been improved and restored to provide year round comfort, but still retains its rustic simplicity. It has a unique setting on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with the wooded hills of Oswald West State Park behind. It is a stunning and wild spot, with little sense of other human presence. An American Bald Eagle nests nearby and flies over regularly. Mice and raccoons also visit.

Pets are welcome with advance notice--there is a fee. To speed up the reservation process, please indicate in your initial inquiry if you are or are not bringing a dog so that we can adjust the quote. (If you don't say one way or the other, I will ask you.)

A fifteen minute walk takes you to the secluded and often rocky Falcon Cove beach while a ten minute drive provides all the village pleasures of Manzanita and Cannon Beach.

Please note that the cabin continues to be used as a vacation home by our family. We live close by, and do much of the cleaning and maintenance ourselves. We limit the number of guests to six, and ask you to keep the place tidy. Please let us know if you plan to bring a dog, or have more than four guests as our extra charges reflect the added wear and tear as well as the extra time it takes to clean.

We enjoyed sitting on the deck or in the hot tub and viewing the million dollar view of the ocean!

Relaxing Stay in a Beautiful Place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this rustic cabin. The views are amazing. The cabin is rustic - no cable TV, no wifi - time to read, watch DVD movies, play games and spend time with your loved ones. Together we cooked, hot-tubbed and made fires in both a wood-burning stove and outdoor fire pit - s'mores and more! The 15-minute walk to the stone beach was well-worth it.. Very cozy place. Slept very well to the sound of ocean waves below. This was our favorite place that we stayed on our recent 10-day, 1250 mile road-trip along the Oregon coast and through central Oregon. We also explored

Cannon Beach, Tillamook and Cape Meares from here.

Rustic should not include moldy and dirty

  • 1 of 5

Black mold on the old shower curtains. Moldy inside the cupboards and cabinets. Dirty furniture. Dirty behind the furniture. Carpet dirty. Sheets and table cloths old, tattered and stained. Loved the deck, hot tub and view. Sorry, but for the price we paid, including all the vrbo fees, these issues should be taken care of.

Owner's Response: Feedback is always good. Turns out that there was mold on the bottom on the shower curtain liner and especially between the liner and curtain, a place that our cleaners hadn't been looking. Also, although we found no mold in the kitchen cupboards, we did find an unpleasant smell, probably due to a leaking kitchen sink sprayer. We have replaced the shower curtains, mended the sprayer and scrubbed the cupboards. And, this was the prompt to check behind and under beds and furniture. Our apologies to this guest!

Stunning view with nice cabin

  • 5 of 5

Incredible views with rustic but clean and spacious cabin. Hotub on deck is a nice bonus. Bald Eagles fishing during the morning low tides was a special treat.

Breathtaking View!

The cabin is "rustic," but the location is overwhelmingly beautiful! Really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

Map

The cabin is within walking distance of the Oregon Coast Trail that leads north to Arch Cape or south to Oswald West State Park. When the gray whales are migrating along the coast (winter and spring) careful watchers can see their spouts from the deck.
