About Mark Mintich

We are a beach loving family and hope to retire here someday. We live in Charlotte, NC and come down as often as possible. Building family memories of time spent together at Wild Dunes is a high priority because we know that family time is precious.

Mark Mintich purchased this condo in 1996

Why Mark Mintich chose Wild Dunes

The Wild Dunes community appealed to us because of the residential (non-commercial) feel. Being a gated community reduces the volume of traffic experienced in other traditional beach vacation areas. The beaches are not crowded and the grounds are beautiful. I feel safer as my children engage in activities that are not always in my sight.

What makes this condo unique

There are only 24 condominiums in the Tidewater complex. This means that there are fewer people in our pool and on our grounds. The bottom units (like ours) have a private stair to the pool and beach. This is great because you don't have to walk around the building to get inside and children can go between the pool and porch while you watch. It has a traditional beach cottage feel.

The condo was beautiful. Very updated and clean.

  • 5 of 5

The views from this condo were very beautiful. Just like the pictures. You can see the pool and ocean from screen porch.Just a few steps from pool and ocean. Loved it!!!! We will refer this place to everyone.Lots of things to do right around the corner. The only thing is we have not received our deposit back and its been almost three weeks, but it may just take a while. We left the condo clean. Other than that we had a blast! We will be staying there again.Thank you Karen Glisson

Perfect spot for our long weekend get-away!!!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about this rental unit. The location was perfect - steps to the pool and the beach. We were able to easily drive to Charleston, Mount Pleasant, the airport, church on Sunday in Sullivan't Island, food options - such as restaurants and grocery stores, etc., etc., etc. The community was clean and safe, and everyone we met was extremely helpful! The unit itself has two good sized bedrooms and bathrooms, and there is plenty of living space, including a screened in back porch. The kitchen has everything we could have ever possibly needed, and the owner, Mark, was very easy to work with as we prepared for our stay. Needless to say, we did not want to leave. Looking forward to a return visit - hopefully sometime in the near future!

Family charleston vacation

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a wonderful week at the beach at wild dunes. My grandson said , it was the best vacation ever! We loved walking from our condo to the lovely beach as well as the proximity to restaurants and shopping. It is a short drive into charleston for tours as well

Great condo in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This condo is perfect for a small family wanting to enjoy a beachfront accommodations in wild dunes. It is exactly as it appears in the pictures and was reasonably priced....which is hard to find on IOP. It was clean, and had a great beach home feel to it, with some updates like granite counter tops and newer appliances.

We have two daughters under the age of two and the proximity to the beach made it easy for me to set up alone and walk back to get the girls without exhausting myself. Eating meals on the screened in porch and watching the ocean is great! The pool is also very nice once you have reached your salt intake limit.

Mark was very good to work with and very quick to respond. I truly have no complaints about this property and would absolutely stay there again. Highly recommend!

Location, Location, Location

Look off the screened in porch to the pool and the ocean beach, only steps away. Pool is well maintained and very nice. Condo is in Wild Dunes, the ritzy part of Isle of Palms-beautiful homes and condos in a gated community. There are 2 golf courses within a mile or so, although the one is closed for renovation this summer-2015. There are some very good restaurants on the island-the one at the Marina, Ollie's Pizza, and Sea Biscuit -breakfast place in the old downtown area. Charleston is an easy drive - about a half hour to downtown, and it is one of the most beautiful cities in America. Mark is extremely accommodating and very easy to work with. Great condo for a couple and their kids - second bedroom has twin beds best suited to kids or young adults. Thanks Mark.

Great except that it's not what I would consider "wheelchair accessible"

  • 4 of 5

The only difficulty we had was negotiating the bathroom situation with my mother-in-law. The main reason I rented this unit was that the VRBO site said that it was "wheelchair accessible." I'm not sure what definition they use for deeming it that way, but I was disappointed to find that the doorways to the bathrooms were quite narrow, and there were no grab bars anywhere. Generally wheelchair-accessible units have wider doorways and grab bars. My 93-year-old mother-in-law can only walk with a walker for short distances, and uses a transport wheelchair for any distance. The doorway to the master bathroom was too narrow for either her walker or her wheelchair; the same was true for the doorway into the other bathroom from the twin bedroom. The only bathroom doorway we could fit her through was the one off the hallway, which was barely wide enough for her wheelchair if we took off the foot supports, which we had to do each time she went in there. So it was a bit of a hassle but we made it work.

The only other problem we had at first until I figured out how to fix it was that the bathtub doors in the hallway bathroom were off track, so we couldn't figure out how to close these doors to take a shower. After some struggle I figured out what the problem was and got these doors back on their tracks, so they now work fine.

The pleasant surprise, on the other hand, was that the kitchen was the best equipped we'd ever seen in a rental unit, and we've stayed in a number of these. We were amazed at the full set of knives, pots and pans, and variety of cooking utensils and devices -- even a blender! It was fabulous!

We especially enjoyed sitting out on the screened porch overlooking the pool and the ocean. Very delightful.

We would definitely stay again. However, our one request/suggestion would be the installation of a grab bar in the hallway bathroom on the short wall opposite the toilet between the bathtub and the door to the twin room. It would have greatly reduced the bathroom issue we had with my mother-in-law.

All in all, though, a very positive experience.
