Just a few minutes outside of Sequim, this is the place to come if you’re seeking peace and tranquility, aided by the restorative power of nature. Decompress, charge your batteries, yet still be close enough to explore all the Olympic Peninsula has to offer. Recently renovated, this sanctuary by the sea is where your adventure begins.
Perched on a bluff overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, we’re right next to Panorama Vista County Park, where a short path leads to a set of wooden stairs descending to a secluded beach. Explore in either direction and often feel like you have the place to yourself. From the bluff (or the beach) you can see the outline of the San Juan Islands and Vancouver Island (B.C.) in the distance. You have the Olympic mountains to your left and Protection Island to your right, with an occasional view of snow-covered Mt. Baker beyond that on a clear day.
Whether you’re into beachcombing, mountain biking, hiking, shopping, dining, or simply finding a spot where you can relax and distance yourself from deadlines and to-do lists, we’ve got you covered. Prefer to BBQ on a deck looking over the water, read a good book on a bench in your own back yard, work away from home, or binge-watch your favorite show? No problem. Want a close encounter with a bald eagle, wandering deer or other wildlife? You’re likely to find that as well. In fact, you’ll probably feel like a visitor in their back yard.
For mountain bikers, we have a world-class myriad of rugged backcountry trials known as the Miller Peninsula. People come from all over to discover its beauty – old growth forest, prairie meadows, and water views – yet you’ll have access about a half mile from where you’re staying. Prefer a relatively flat, manicured, paved trail, equally beautiful and suitable for road bikes as well? Hop on the Discovery Trail, about 4 miles away, and head west towards Sequim, through Sequim Bay State Park and Carrie Blake Park, among other notable sites. Or head east towards Diamond Point and Discovery Bay. You could even play a free round of frisbee golf (18 holes) through a beautiful forest on a nearby course.
Seven Cedars, a casino just 5 miles away, can offer a fun night out as well, with live shows, fine dining and other activities. You can rent an e-bike or book a whale watching tour from there as well. The Puget Sound Express leaves from the beautiful harbor of Port Townsend, which offers many other local attractions as well, such as an annual wooden boat festival.
Beyond the attractions accessible from your Vrbo location, Sequim is only about a 15-minute drive away. Whether you’re here for the Lavender Festival, or just want to immerse yourself in its natural beauty and ambiance, you won’t find a more enchanting small-town slice of rural Americana anywhere in the country.
Port Angeles, just over a half hour away, offers a 90 minute ferry ride to cosmopolitan Victoria (Vancouver Island, British Columbia), which has much to see within walking distance, though you can take your car as well if you prefer, and return the same day (or stay the night). Port Angeles is also the gateway to OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK, a World Heritage site renowned for its diversity of natural beauty and pristine places to explore. From Hurricane Ridge to Lake Crescent to the Hoh Rain Forest, and countless other locations, you can see it all: Pacific wilderness coastline, alpine peaks covered with exotic wildflowers or snow, depending on the time of year, temperate rainforests, glacial lakes, winding rivers . . . there’s something for every traveler.
Your home away from home will have everything you need. A large bedroom, a small bedroom, two bathrooms, as well as a kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry facility and a deck with outdoor seating. Three large smart TVs, Internet access, DirecTV, books, movies, games, a computer desk (for those who want to set up a work area with their own laptops), and a private, fully fenced-in back yard. (Note: Access to the small bedroom, as indicated in a couple of the photos, is through the large bedroom. This is perfect for families and couples comfortable sharing some common space, but is not ideal if you're looking for complete privacy and/or independent access. It works for most, but not all:-)

I had such a fantastic time staying at this property! If you are looking for the perfect home base for exploring Olympic National Park, this is truly it. The location is incredibly convenient, making it so easy to head out for daily adventures in the park. One of the absolute highlights was the view—it was breathtaking and made every morning coffee and evening wind-down feel special. Plus, having direct beach access right there was a huge bonus; it was so nice to be able to head down to the water whenever the mood struck. The host was wonderful as well—super nice, very welcoming, and made sure everything was perfect for our visit. I can’t recommend this place enough to anyone planning a trip to the area. We’ll definitely look to stay here again!
Our hosts, Jon and Amanda, warmly welcomed us into their lovely, impeccably clean and well-outfitted Sanctuary by the Sea. We had everything we might need, a magnificent view of the Sequim Bay, the San Juan Islands and so much more. They were informative and truly helpful about local resources and adventures on the Olympic Peninsula. We look forward to returning to this treasure of a stay in the future.

We loved the solitude and the beautiful view from the backyard. Great location to explore the OP. Jonathon and his wife were very good at prompt communications and helpful suggestions for things to do and see!
This extraordinary property had the best amenities of any property we’ve stayed in. Very roomy, very clean, and very well appointed. The backyard was spectacular even though weather prevented much use this visit. I would rent this property again.
Immaculate property, meticulously appointed. This property is furnished with every imaginable amenity for a very comfortable stay. The views are breathtaking and excellent privacy. Highly, highly recommended.
Jonathan was very welcoming, kind and helpful. Although they were nearby, they were never intrusive and only checked in via messaging to make sure things were good with us. The house was immaculate and just as described with every possible amenity available. It is beautifully designed and very comfortable.

This place was absolutely beautiful and Jon was so friendly and informative. If we find ourselves back in this area we would definitely stay here again.
Jon and Amanda are great hosts! Upon arrival, Jon met us and gave us a tour of the house and grounds. The house is very clean and well equipped. It has a spectacular view and the grounds are very well maintained. We ate outside on the deck quite often. We do hope to return!
The photos do not do justice to this place! The house was super clean, had everything we needed, and the hosts were willing to help in any way they could. It's a truly special property with beautiful bay views and beach access.
Very nice property, very well equipped and makes you feel like you are at a true home and not one of those commercial house rentals. Very personalized for the visit. We will be back!
