Guestbook comments from the owner

Came from Seattle for a last minute weekend get away. We had a blissful, restful weekend! We especially loved exploring the details of the house. The owners clearly put love and attention into every bit of design. Thank you for being great hosts.

Impressive

This was an amazing place to stay. Greeted early with a basket of baked goods, this one was a winner early. We spent the first hour checking out all of the cool furnishings and completely forgot to unload the car. Heated floors, great views, a 1 minute walk to the beach, and a friendly neighbor make this place perfect for something low key and relaxing. Be aware that you are in very close proximity to the next neighbor so if loud sounds are your thing.. You should probably stay away.

Thanks for having us!

Enjoyed staying at your house. Was very relaxing. The décor was beautiful, the grounds were very relaxing, the house was clean and very well equipped. Enjoyed the views from the upstairs rooms. Loved watching all the wildlife and the water. Thank you for opening your house.

Beautiful home and incredible value!

We really love everything about this place! You will not find a better deal for the price. We stayed with another family and had a total of four adults and two children (both 8 years old) for a long Labor Day weekend and this house totally met all our needs. The decor is charming with beautiful furnishings and little surprises everywhere. The house feels spacious and has a relaxing aura. It was clean and ready for guests when we arrived and our hosts even provided fresh pastries, pears, and flowers! We enjoyed the hot tub, sauna, and lovely gardens. We saw lots of cool birds, found tiny frogs, and saw bats flying around at night! We could also see so many stars as we relaxed in the hot tub. The kitchen is surprisingly well stocked with everything we needed for cooking great meals. We were even able to BBQ on the grill. The bedrooms are also great. The master bedroom is large and has a large bathroom with an awesome jacuzzi tub and the second bedroom has it's own patio with a table, chairs, and nice view. The kids turned the downstairs office into an elaborate fort (using sheets, cushions, and chairs found in the house) and camped in it all weekend. The location is also great. We walked to a beach basically across the street that was loaded with shells and drove to nearby attractions easily. We have stayed at a few vacation rentals and this stands out as one of the best we've found. It exceeded my expectations. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a rental in the area. The owner was also very responsive to our questions while we were considering the rental. All in all an A+ experience!

Exceptional!

  • 5 of 5

This is such a nice place our other friends renting in the area said they'd rather rent here next time they stay in Sequim. I almost don't want to write a good review because then everyone else will want to go! It's beautiful and relaxing, deserves a 5 star rating. My family gave me a pat on the back for picking this great place. Thanks Gulmarg!

First of all, the reason this house is "waterfront" is because it is on a small canal where lots of ducks like to play. If you are looking for BEACHFRONT this is not the property for you. The photos of beach and lighthouse are extremely zoomed in. The beach area renters are allowed to use is limited to "what is in front of the house" but because the beach is across the street and lined with private property / houses, it is unclear what area this refers to. I went out one morning and felt like i was trespassing the whole time.

The house is beautifully decorated and tidy, however the cleanliness was not up to my standards. We found several dirty dishes and got in the habit of washing everything before we used it. A spoon was literally caked with something like mashed potatoes and was right on top in the drawer. I grabbed it in the morning for my coffee. Ew. Next spoon: a leaf of lettuce stuck to the back. Next spoon: lipstick. Next spoon. There was a smashed bug on the wall as well as dust and hair. And here's the worst: the hot tub was cold when we got there and I was really looking forward to a plunge after our long drive. So, no problem, we decided to take a hot bath in the jacuzzi tub. There wasn't enough hot water in the house to fill the tub high enough to use the jets. But we really wanted to use those jets! (My 4 year old was insisting) So we had a nice full albeit luke warm bath. As soon as we turned on the jets, all this nasty black mold slime came churning out into the bath. It was disgusting!

It took overnight and into the next day to heat up the hot tub. Here's a tip not listed in the booklet: crank it to full blast, then you can turn down the heat when it's hot enough. Makes sense. The hot tub and sauna combo is awesome. Fairly clean. The water did not look fresh by any means, but it was fine for me and my kid. The sauna smelled great and had just a few cob webs.

Owner's Response: Our Manager has spoken to the renter and we feel some of the reactions were extreme and based on misunderstandings listed below. 1. Waterfront/Beachfront - in our publicity material in VRBO to the question Oceanfront we have said "Across the road 20 yards" To Beachfront: "Walking beach across the road" . We have never listed the property as waterfront. The distance of 20 yards to the beach is clearly mentioned. 2. Beach access - The renter felt guilty walking to and along the beach. According to the rules of our community access and walking along the beach is permitted along the entire beach and not only "what is in front of the house". 3. Dirty Dishes, bug on the wall, dust and hair - we apologize for this but our cleaning lady emailed us on 29 September before this review as follows "The renters who checked out yesterday left the house trashed .2 full dishwasher loads of dishes in sink... food all over...10loads of sheets towels and blankets...I have never seen this house so used and left filthy. Its going to take me longer to clean it up 6hours with all blankets stripped off beds and every towel in house wet on floor...just so you know" 4. Jacuzzi - not enough hot water, nasty black slime came out from the jets - The hot water is just enough if not mixed earlier with the cold. However if cold has been mixed earlier then maybe not enough. Apologies. Can not understand slime as it is regularly used by our guests. 5. Sauna had a few cobwebs - Apologies. 6. Hot tub cold - "it took 1 1/2 days to heat up the hot tub" - This is incorrect , the renter did not know to turn the knob to full and then reduce temperature if necessary. It takes only one hour to reach maximum temperature from cold but less than that as we leave the setting about half way (luke warm). Renter also said water did not look fresh. Our manager explained to her that no hot tub any where in the world has fresh water after each use. Chemicals are regularly added to the water to keep it clean and fresh. We are sorry this renter did not enjoy her experience but that is not due to any misrepresentation on our part. Preminder Singh
