About Stuart Tabman

My wife and I live in Seminole Florida and also stay in our Murphy North Carolina cabin for a month or two every year. I am from New Jersey originally and Melody from Pensacola Florida. I spent the past 25 years in the health club business and my wife in radio advertising. We now own a sports jewelry business called Milestones Sports Jewelry as well as our vacation rentals. We love the peaceful surroundings and the slower pace of the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Stuart & Melody Tabman

Stuart Tabman purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Stuart Tabman chose Smoky Mountains

We started visiting the mountains of North Carolina in the early 90’s and fell in love with the area. We got hooked on rafting the local rivers and hiking the endless trails. Thus began a search for the perfect property. We wanted enough acreage to have privacy and seclusion, a spectacular view and yet still be close enough to all the action and adventure. We found Eagles Nest in 2002, then designed and built the 2400 square foot cabin in 2004.

What makes this cabin unique

One of our greatest joys is to read the comments about the special vacations and memories people have created at the cabin. Whether it’s a romantic vacation, an anniversary, a family vacation or friends having fun our customers have experienced it all. The peaceful surroundings make Eagles Nest a great place to just talk and reconnect. As one customer wrote “We found the time to have long talks and to talk about nothing! It's as if the view inspired us”.

We hope you enjoy all the area has to offer and keep coming back for new adventures in the mountains.

Stuart & Melody Tabman

Great location beautiful view and the cabin was in great shape. We will return.

  • 5 of 5

Everything was perfect. The cabin is a little hard to find which is a good thing. The directions are perfect and get you to the front door. The fire pit area is awesome. And the layout worked perfectly for us. We are coming back.

Wonderful time away...

  • 5 of 5

Our family absolutely loved our time at Eagles Nest! What a beautiful home in a beautiful area of the state. We have 4 children (age range 4 - 11) and they loved camping out in the bedroom upstairs - we never felt cramped or that there wasn't enough space. We enjoyed hiking at Deep Creek, Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Appalachian Trail which is right at the road to go up to the cabin and in Smoky Mountain National Park. Wow! Also took a day off of hiking to walk Bryson City and Cherokee (good museum, souvenir shops around it can be skipped). Loved the camp fire and hot tub - they were used every night. Thank you Stuart and Melody for opening your home for others to use.

This was our second trip to Eagles Nest Hideaway. The first was in July 2016, the dates of this trip were March 30th to April 4th. This cabin has everything, long range views of the mountains, including Clingman's Dome and Lake Fontana. The weather was in the low 70's for the high and upper 40's to low 50's for the low, perfect for the fire pit, the outdoor hot tub, or a fire in the great room. The kitchen has everything you need and more, just bring the food. The beds are perfect for that late morning sleep. The pool table and the 55 inch TV provide plenty of entertainment. We look forward to our third trip, hopefully in the fall. The Clanton family, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Very well appointed cabin with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

The views were stunning and the cabin was very well appointed. This cabin was comfortable, clean and had everything you need for an extended stay. The kitchen was well stocked which would enable you to make most any meal. The cabin featured a gas fireplace for easy enjoyment. The owner also provided everything needed to enjoy a camp fire. The cabin was private and felt like you were away from it all but in reality, we were very close too all of the activities at the outdoor center.

Wonderful View, Beautiful Cabin

  • 4 of 5

We arrived for a long weekend over President's day, which is just before tourist season in Bryson City. We didn't realize this, so it did have an impact on what stores/shops were open, so make sure you check your weekend with any local attractions.

The cabin is beautiful and secluded. The drive there is difficult once you get to the gravel road, but well worth it.

Everything was clean and fresh. The singular thing I think could either be communicated or improved would be the strength of the internet access. I had brought my work laptop in case I needed to sign in, but the strength of the satellite internet was not even as strong as my cell phone signal. I completely understand that this has to be the case with the cabin as secluded as it is, so maybe just add a heads up to the renter in the property description.

I strongly recommend flying into Asheville and taking the highway over to Bryson City, even though mileage-wise Knoxville is closer. The drive over the Tail of the Dragon at night was a bit unnerving. The drive back, however, was beautiful during sunrise.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at Eagles Nest and for your review. We are surprised to hear of slower internet service and will address that for our future renters. After the wildfires burned our cables in November we upgraded both our internet and DirectTV service to the best equipment and packages offered in the mountains. Our download speeds and data package are the best offered in our area. Fiber optic and cable are not available in our area so we use Hughes Net satellite Gen 4 service. We have many customers who need internet for business and stay at our cabin because of our good internet connection and speed. Melody and I operate our internet based business from Eagles Nest with no problems. Our literature also states that during storms the Internet can go in and out due to the fact we are on satellite. This is no different than Direct TV which will go on and off in a bad storm as we have experienced at our home in Florida as well. We are always looking to make our customers experience perfect and will be diligent in keeping up on the latest technology available to us.

Magical Spot

  • 5 of 5

We've lost count how many times we've stayed at ENH, but it never disappoints. I always feel the magic as we approach the house. Once outside, the view instantly calms us and we know we're in a very special spot. The house is super cozy and comfy. You can visit, cook, play games, sit in the hot tub, sleep and enjoy the view the entire time. The bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept in; it comes complete with a step to aid you in climbing into its comfort. Kitchen is fully stocked. The firepit and bench make for great storytelling and giggling. This will always be one of my favorite places.
