Beautiful Views and Peaceful Seclusion

  • 5 of 5

We found this California retreat searching the internet for a vacation rental by the week in Napa Valley. We read the other reviews and decided to give it a try. We contacted the owner and received a quick and detailed response. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner and given a very detailed tour of house and its amenities. After the tours, the owner left us be and we immediately found the hot tub and could barely believe the views that surrounded us as we literally soaked it all in. The wildlife around the house is pretty neat. We saw turkey, deer and even found a few road runners poking around.

Overall the house was great! It was clean, organized and well stocked. We enjoyed the huge deck and the loungers in the evening as we watched the stars. We made were able to make quick trips into town for supplies and we enjoyed the close proximity to all of the vineyards. All of the goodies we brought back to stuff ourselves with fit nicely in the fridge. We really had a great time.

If you’re thinking about taking a week to see Napa Valley, you would be hard pressed to find a better place to stay. It was peaceful and secluded with amazing views.

We will definitely be back.

Stayed for 4 days over Labor Day weekend.

Enjoyed our stay very much. Hacienda is quirky and charming.

Peaceful , rural setting. No exageration about the wildlife.

Would definitely book again

We had a great time at Leigh's hacienda.

From the minute you walk in you notice her artistic talent is on display.

Pictures, paintings and a real southwest feel which fit the decor very well.

The views are wonderful, the deer walking by in the morning and the playful hummingbirds keep us enchanted.

The bed was comfortable and the air worked very well even with 100+ heat for out stay.

Leigh was a wonderful host and we are sorry we didn't have a chance to spend more time with her.

Downtown Calistoga is 5 minutes away down one of the most beautiful drives you can find.

Totally recommend this place

Amazing Honeymoon Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My new wife and I spent our honeymoon at this place and was without a doubt the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. The views from the deck are absolutely amazing and the location is wonderful. This hacienda sits up on the mountain but only just a few minutes drive to Calistoga. Leigh, the owner, was awesome and she made sure we had everything we needed and she even had us a couple of bottles of champagne in the fridge since she knew it was our honeymoon. The decorations in the cabin are awesome and you truly feel like you are in another world while staying there. The location is so great because you are away from it all but Napa/Sonoma and all the vineyards are just a short drive down the road. I can't wait to go back and would most certainly stay there again. If you want to have an amazing get away trip I highly recommend checking this place out. Thanks so much Leigh for your hospitality and hope to be back again.

Majic in the Moutains!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful! What a place Leigh has created in the mountains above the Wine Country. You'd think you were miles away from civilization, yet it's only minutes to downtown Calistoga, the hottest secret in Napa Valley! We loved the quite and solitude of the Hacienda and its enormous wrap-around deck...watching the sun rise with coffee in the morning and enjoying a big cab in the hot tub as the wildlife strolls by and the sun sets over the Mayacamas Mountains at night. If you're looking for a great place to relax away from the crowds but close enough to visit any winery in Napa or Sonoma, look no further! Comfortable furnishings with a personal touch of Mexican art...this is a very clean and well maintained property.

Great Weekend Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a 3 day stay at the Hacienda. This house is really all about seclusion and a great outdoor experience. The deck is wonderful with expansive views. We spent most of our time at the house outside (the weather was incredible!). One of the highlights was the turkey that walked and gobbled along the trail behind the house in the evening time. The house itself is nice but a few things worth pointing out. No dishwasher for one - and the maids apparently don't do kitchen cleanup after you depart so you need to wash everything. No disposal either. So, if you plan on doing a lot of cooking while you are there keep that in mind. Bring some water with you - it's well water up there...great for showers and what not...not so great for drinking. That said, Leigh has the house well stocked - so for most ancillary kitchen items - coffee, creamer, salt/pepper, etc... she has it covered. Another thing to note is that one of the 2 bedrooms is considerably smaller than the other and neither have a master bath type layout with it attached to the bedroom. So for both bathrooms you are leaving the room and walking down a hall. Both bedrooms also get a LOT of light in the if you are a light sleeper and are used to a dark room bring a mask. :) We had a great experience - Leigh was a great host and provided a VERY detailed orientation when we arrived. You are only 10-15 minutes into town but keep in mind you are a good hour to the downtown Napa area from here so plan on that if you are visiting wineries and such - especially on the weekends. If you are coming up from SFO/Oakland you are better off taking 101 up and cutting over to Calistoga in the Santa Rosa area. Enjoy your vacation!

Owner's Response: These guests were just the kind of folks we love to have at the Hacienda... Fun, cute and enjoyed everything we provided. p.s. there are black out blinds in the main bedroom and regular blinds on all the windows in the 2nd bedroom, but i do have sleep masks in the bathroom cabinet, just in case. I will add that on my site description on vrbo amenities, i do advise there is . no garbage disposal or dishwasher...and on the confirmation form that all guest read and sign, it states that the kitchen needs to be left in the same condition as found. I do lay out all that necessary information before guests book.
