About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Whether you’re an adventurous traveler or one who likes nothing better than to unwind with a few good books during your well-earned vacation, our family’s hideaway, which backs up to the extraordinary Red Rocks of Sedona, will provide you with first-class accommodations at a price that’s within your reach.

From the pillow-top mattresses and the luxurious bed linens to the thick cotton towels in the bathrooms; from the great room’s warm kiva fireplace and flat screen TV to the well-stocked kitchen with all newer appliances and granite countertops, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how “Javelina Haven” brings you so much value for your traveling dollars.

This custom built, three-bedroom, two-bath Pueblo-style home is tucked away in the quiet, semi-rural “Coffee Pot” neighborhood near the rock formation of the same name. Our getaway is on Maxwell House Drive; you’ll see other streets carrying similarly vintage coffee brand names to carry out the theme: Sanborn, Farmer Brothers, Nescafe. Our major cross street, off Highway 89, is Coffee Pot Drive. It’s clear that those who laid out Sedona’s streets had some fun naming them!

We believe you’ll be enchanted by the West Sedona setting and wowed by the rock formations that tower over the little canyon that opens to our backyard. From the great room, breakfast nook, dining area, master bedroom and the wraparound patio you’ll see the formations known as Capitol Butte, Three Golden Chiefs and Sugarloaf. And scenic Sugarloaf Trailhead, which provides hiking and mountain bike access to a host of trails, is less than two short blocks away from our vacation home.

Get away from it all. Enjoy a stay at Javelina Haven.

About Gil and Carol Cormaci

We are Gil & Carol Cormaci and we are both native Southern Californians. Our primary residence is in the foothills north of Pasadena, Calif. We bought our home in Sedona to have a getaway in the Red Rock Country of Arizona. Gil loves to hike. When we're vacationing there he's up very early to take hikes before breakfast. (Our house is just a short walk from the Sugarloaf Trailhead.) Carol is fascinated by the ancient Native American ruins that can be found all over Northern Arizona, and loves the fact the house can be a base for such explorations. We're both inspired by the extraordinary beauty of Sedona.

Why Gil and Carol Cormaci chose Sedona

The semi-rural setting of our house, which we've nicknamed 'Javelina Haven,' provides a quiet, private place in which we can unwind. Yet, just a few minutes away are two well-stocked supermarkets and all the other services and amenities one might expect in an average-sized city, including restaurants, movie theaters, golf courses, art galleries, shopping opportunities and more, all surrounded by the amazing scenery.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I wanted to let you know we had a wonderful stay at Javelina Haven. The home is beautiful and clean and relaxing. We did have a herd of Javelina come and visit one evening. Not ever hearing of them before we thought it was exciting to see. Sedona is a beautiful place we did hiking, pink jeep tour and atv riding - twice. Thank you for all the information, all directions to and for the house were complete. We did have dinner at Dahl and DiLuca, the service and food was excellent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your home and Sedona. If we do return to Sedona we will look up Javelina Haven as our preferred place to stay.

Thanks for everything these accommodations certainly contributed to our success vacation.

Beautiful Cozy Home in Sedona

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. Three siblings and spouses coming from 3 different states met in Sedona for a reunion. The house was very comfortable and roomy. We loved having morning coffee and our evening happy hour on the private back patio with a lovely view and free bird concerts. Fantastic hiking was right in our back yard and we didn't have to drive anywhere to be in those beautiful red rocks. If we ever come back to Sedona we would definitely want to stay in this home again! The owners have thought of everything...even walking sticks and backpacks for visitors to use. We'd highly recommend this home.

Owner's Response: It's so gratifying to know our "Javelina Haven" turned out to be the ideal spot for another sibling reunion. It seems to be a magnet for such gatherings. We're glad you found the items we have on hand for those who want to explore the local trails, including those hiking sticks and backpacks. We hope some of you climbed nearby Sugarloaf to take in the vista from there. Most importantly, we're glad you had the opportunity to gather together from your various home states to create memories in beautiful Sedona! You'll be able to savor those for a long time. Thanks for having been wonderful guests.

Sedona Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

I had a wonderful stay at Gil and Carol's house in Sedona. I could walk to trails from the house and restaurants and stores were an easy drive. There were also many small extras that make life easy and save a few dollars at the same time -- too many to name, but things that make it feel like home. I would recommend this house.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Allison. We're glad you found the provisions helpful and the house well-located for all there is to see in beautiful red rock country. We understand you were also among our lucky guests to experience a morning visit from a family of javelinas trooping through the yard. We hope you'll return for a stay at our "Javelina Haven" one day soon! Best, Carol & Gil

great house from which to explore Sedona!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carol and Gils house. We were there for New Year's for 4 nights with our 3 teenage daughters. This house is the perfect location to walk to the sugarloaf trailhead and access quite a few trails! We had beautiful weather and hiked every day starting with the hike Gil recommended. The next day we did the teacup trail to Soldiers pass trail past the 7 sacred pools on toward Brins Mesa trail. I recommend that hike as well. Out and back that one took us about 2.5 hours maybe 3. (we love to hike!) The house is exactly as shown, clean and comfortable. Lots of great towels and very comfortable beds. I did not think we would see much wildlife as it is a pretty busy neighborhood with lots of houses. (as i expected knowing the area quite well like we do.) We were amazed at how quiet it was at night! Completely silent, even on New Year's Eve. A far cry from the noisy Westin where we had spent the week before in Scottsdale. We saw only some bunnies in the back until the very last moments we were there. As we were packing the car, i heard a noise and up strolled a javelina on the left side of the house toward the backyard! I ran back in and took some pictures as he meandered his way all the way up through the yard! i was so glad i got to see one up close. We have been coming to AZ for years and it was only our second sighting! Great house. We'll be back. thanks for everything, those walking sticks came in handy!!

our girls, ages 17,15 and 13 (and very fit) loved the following hike: Fay's canyon including the end section which is not maintained and is a bit of a cliff climb over a ledge for stunning pictures of courthouse rock and bell rock. Also on Fay's canyon hike they loved the climb (scramble) to Fay's arch. other favorites:

BEAUTIFUL HOUSE

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in August at the Javelina House and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The House was clean, comfortable, perfect size for a girls getaway. The view outback was great. We saw a lot of hummingbirds, rabbits and quails with a lot of babies, so cute. We kept looking for Javelinas but apparently it wasn't the right time to see them. Maybe next time around. Location of the house was great too, close to everything. We did the hike as Gil and Carol recommended and it was beautiful. Also did a balloon ride and the Pink Jeep Tours which we would highly recommend both of them. We all had the best time. Thank you Gil and Carol for such a lovely home, we absolutely loved your house it made our stay in Sedona a memorable one. We would highly recommend it to others.
