Light and Airy with direct Ocean Views from the Lanai, Living and Kitchen areas. Large Ocean Front 611 square foot condo with a full 128 square foot Lanai.
This fully equipped Ocean Front 3rd floor condo is located in the low-rise popular Kona Reef complex. Just steps to the Ocean and the white sand beach park next door. It has a short 3 minute walk to shops, open markets and restaurants in the picturesque town of Kailua-Kona. There is free parking for renters (both open or covered), elevators, air conditioning and secured DSL internet access (WIFI).
The Kona Reef complex offers an Oceanfront Salt Water Pool, Jacuzzi / Hot Tub, Gas Grills and Pool Side Dining area.
Our Condo will be closed from August 17 - September 17, 2018 for Remodeling. Pictures for stays after that time period, are representative of the unit until we are able to take and update the various website pictures.
Please note we have a 5 night minimum rental requirement. (4 Night Min during Summer Season / 10 night minimum for the annual Ironman Competition dates / Other exceptions based on available calendar openings)

About Bruce Ahrendt
Bruce & Karrie Ahrendt.. Currently living in Bellingham, WA. Bruce retired from the BLM-Salem District and Karrie from the State of Oregon. We're both very involved with activities at church and in Volunteering for different organizations. Karrie is originally from Mililani, Hi on the island of Oahu. After 30+ years she's slowly making her way back to Hawaii.

Why Bruce Ahrendt chose Hōlualoa
We chose the Big Island for it's more relaxed/laid back atmosphere, not to mention the many activities available on the Big Island. Kona Reef Condos was the logical choice for a vacation rental location. Easy access to the entire Big Island as well as easy walking distance to downtown Kailua, Kona (it's shops, restaurants and Farmer's Market), as well as the beaches and other activities along Alii Drive.
What makes this Condo unique
Kona Reef complex comes with a well maintained Jacuzzi and salt water swimming pool, gas grills and a central outdoor dining area with free wifi. Our unit is located right on the ocean front. The lanai lets you enjoy relaxing or eating while watching the surfers, sea turtles, whales and spinner dolphins or possibly just a front row seat for the Hawaiian sunset. We try and make our place feel a bit more like a home than just someplace you would rent to stay in. We provide those little extras like snorkle gear, a cooler, beach chairs, beach umbrella, sunscreen, boogie boards, even a pair of binoculars to get a better view of the ships as they sail past. For those needing internet access we have a private, secured wifi router for use inside our unit or on the lanai.

Amazing view, great location, well equipped condo
Well supplied kitchen. We enjoyed making delicious salads from Hilo Farmers Market produce and grilling out steaks.
Everything needed for a fun day at the beach was provided, towels, chairs, umbrella, snorkel equipment.
It was nice to relax in the hot tub after a full day.
B&K provided all the information from parking, directions to unit, obtaining key, to use of condo that made checking in a breeze.
I would definitely stay here again. Very well supplied unit. Great location for exploring the island. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.
Second stay in this condo, great again. So well stocked with everything that you could need, right down to a cooler for day trips. Location can’t be beat, walk into town and to the farmers market for produce. Watch dolphins daily for the lanai, as well as turtles that come in to eat and then sun themselves on the black lava below. Hope to be back again!
Location can't be beaten!
The location of this apartment is incredible, the view is spectacular and the waves crashing on the shore is mesmerizing. There was always a surfer to watch directly out in front of the apartment, I just couldn't get enough!
Although the complex is older, it is well maintained by grounds staff and the pool and BBQ area is great. Even though we stayed at the busiest time of the year - Ironman, there were only ever a few people at the pool.
There was always plenty of space to park the rental car (even under cover) and so close to walk into Kona Marketplace to check out the shops and restaurants.
At the apartment there is plenty of snorkelling gear, boogie boards etc for your beach trip and table and chairs on the lanai. Inside the apartment it is dated, but clean and tidy. One suggestion would be to replace some of the mirrors with nice local art, and no doubt a major renovation will be undertaken in due course.
I would recommend this apartment to couples. You will be extremely happy with the location of this oceanfront apartment.
Kona Reef Jewel
Our nine night stay (June 2017) at B&K's condo definitely exceeded our expectations. We found the unit very clean, stocked with essentials, ideally located and everything in working order. I would advise checking in before heading for Costco for food and supplies as this unit is well stocked with supplies as well as some food items left by previous tenants. Downtown is only a short walk (downtown parking is very limited) to a large variety of restaurants as well as shops. I've stayed at Kona before and having to park downtown is a nightmare! The view from the lanai is fantastic and the green sea turtles, spinner dolphins and boogie boarders show up daily. The unit is well thought out and has snorkel gear, boogie boards, reef shoes, binoculars, books and very comfortable furniture. I've told our friends about the condo and will stay there again when we return. B&K have thought of everything!!!!
Kona Reef, Room A26
My husband and I spent 5 nights in June 2017 at Kona Reef. LOVED IT. We were in building A, third floor. The balcony opened up to the ocean just yards away. The view was incredible. The unit was clean and well organized. After booking and prior to arriving, I had wished that the bedroom also had a balcony that opened to the ocean. When I got to the unit I realized it didn't matter. We left the balcony screen doors open to get the roar of the ocean throughout the whole unit. The pool is beautifully located with an ocean view just beyond. The grounds throughout Kona Reef were well maintained with lovely tropical plants & flowers in bloom. The weather was cloudy most afternoons but the clouds would break for sunsets. BEAUTIFUL sunsets from the balcony & everywhere on the property. Can't wait to return.
This unit exceeded our wish list.
The unit was clean organized and filled with supplies that made out vacation exceptional. The view from the Lenai was wonderful and we enjoyed time watching the surfers. The system for getting into the unit and the availability of keys was very well planned and made it easy for us to immediately move in and enjoy the amenities of the facility. Initially we had a screen door that was broken, but a call to the caretaker quickly took care of the problem. Everyone associated with the unit was pleasant and made us feel comfortable. I especially appreciated the personal contact that we received from the owner Bruce Ahrendt. He obviously cares about his unit and the people that use it.
We look forward to a future stay in Kona and will definitely reserve this unit.
One of the best snorkeling beaches on the island is only a few miles south of Kona Reef. KaHalu’u Beach Park lets you get up close and personal with the Green Sea Turtles (protected don’t touch) and a large variety of tropical fish. Some of our favorite places to go are: • Kona Farmers' market - downtown Kona, Wed – Sun. • Hilo Farmers' market - Wed., & Sat. only • Akaka Falls near Hilo • Waipio Valley (need 4 wheel drive if you actually go down into the valley – nice overlook for those like me that go for the view) • Volcano National Park • Hapuna Beach Park & many other beautiful beaches • Several Kona Coffee Plantations, if you enjoy coffee • Macademian nut farms • Waikaloa Village shopping center • South Point, the southernmost point in the US • There are several historical sites on Alii Street alone For eateries: • Bite Me for fresh Seafood • Costco, lots of local food items • Kona Inn Restaurant • Huggo's • Volcano House • Mrs. Barry's Kona Cookies My favorite activity is to pick up some good steak or seafood, grill it on the gas grills located near the pool at Kona Reef and sit back and eat on the Lanai of our unit, relaxing and watching the waves, surfers, boats, dolphins and other marine life.
