About Theresa Palmer

Owners Brian & Theresa Palmer designers from the UK. We moved to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains 10 years ago. Knoll cottage is situated across the field from our home and studio. We enjoy walking the hundred acres of pasture and woodland, and our guests are welcome to do the same. We often bike the New River Trail and are happy to let the guests have the use of four bicycles as well as canoe and kayak. We are keen gardeners and raise our own organic vegetables. Weekends are spent mainly outside enjoying the peace and beauty of the surrounding area.

Lovely farmhouse cottage to disconnect from it all!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I decided to take a trip to the mountains for spring break. After several weeks we chose this cottage based on the reviews and more than fair price. We could not have chosen better! The owners Brian and Theresa Palmer were exceptional from the beginning of the booking process and communication was painless. When we arrived Theresa met us at the gate and showed us inside where a homemade cake was waiting! We have a two year old daughter and she offered us a crib for her which was great. Our three boys ages 10 to 13 had the run of the expansive property and enjoyed running in the fields and exploring the creek while my wife and I enjoyed the hammock and just relaxing in the cottage reading a book.

We had planned on just cruising the parkway and really just doing whatever we found worth doing, the nearby town of Floyd was very entertaining and had wonderful shops my wife enjoyed. We took a "day"trip to Luray caverns a four hour drive away and the boys wanted to go to DC afterwards so we went to the capital and the museums, then since we were so close we went to the Baltimore aquarium. Theresa having not seen us in two days called to make sure we were okay showing what caring people they are.

All in all I have to say this was the best vacation we have taken yet and I am sure we will be back very soon. I have already started talking to the wife about going back in the fall!

Owner's Response: Wow, how thoughtful to write such a positive review, and so soon after your stay. With four children, I am surprised that you found the time. We hope that you will return in the fall and we will look forward to seeing you. Theresa and Brian

Peace and serenity

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful, peaceful stay in this charming cottage. After a couple of days of relaxing and reading on the front porch as well as exploring the 100-acre farm, we felt refreshed -- and a bit depressed -- when it was time to go. Theresa and Brian were warm and welcoming, and we felt that we'd made new friends. Theresa brought us cake and urged us to help ourselves to lettuce from their garden. We can't wait to return!

Two words to describe our experience . . . peaceful and relaxing! The cottage is surrounded by cow pastures, beautiful flowers, singing birds, etc. It is so peaceful, it brought me back to yesterday year. Theresa and Brian were very nice and accommodating. They really want you to have an enjoyable stay. It's a great place to bring children or a dog and let them play outside within the fenced in yard. We enjoyed sitting outside on the veranda and spending time together taking in the peaceful surroundings, instead of leaving to sight-see. It is truly a great place to slow down and be with your family or friends.

This place is pure magic.

  • 5 of 5

There is hardly a more poetic or inspiring place on earth. Rolling hills akin to European countryside. Cows meandering, creek bubbling, a cottage open to the landscape, porches for sunrise, porches for sunset. It's perfect. Theresa is delightful. I wish she were my neighbor. I would invite her for tea and help her in her garden. She made a delicious lemon cake for our arrival. Her cheerful nature brightened an already perfect setting. Bring your walking shoes and be sure to explore the acreage. I wish we had a week, no, a month here. We will be back again and again.

Perfect relaxation

  • 5 of 5

This delightful cottage is probably the most relaxing stay I have ever had with vrbo. The rolling hills, the wildlife and fresh air--no humidity or mosquitoes! I could have stayed on the front porch for hours on end.

If you want a tranquil, completely restful time , don't hesitate to book this utterly charming cottage. It's a step back in time and will remind you of visiting your grandmother's house.. You'll want to stay.
