In 1969, my father purchased this property for use as a little North Fork get away. We grew up 10 miles to the South in Hampton Bays, but always enjoyed ventures up to the North Fork. In 2005 we realized what a truly special area this is and completely rebuilt the house saving some of its original characteristics, yet making it a much more inviting and enjoyable home.
We love every day we get to spend here. In the morning, the side porch just has the most indescribably beautiful look and feel to it. Then it's time to stroll over to Love Lane for breakfast at a local favorite: Love Lane Kitchen. After that, whether it's going to the local farm stands, spending an afternoon at the beach, or strolling through some of the East end villages, it's just terrific. In late afternoon/early evening, the porch is an an enjoyable haven for a glass of wine and cooking dinner on the grill... just a great way to finish the day.
This was a weekend to remember because it was our daughter's wedding. The house was the perfect setting for pictures and also spacious enough for all the bridesmaids to get ready for the wedding. The house is so charming and beautiful. As other people have noted the pictures do not do it justice. Loved the wonderful big porch to relax, the spacious, updated kitchen and the master bedroom with the beautiful big bathroom. The house is centrally located in the heart of Long Island Wine and farm country. Gary will definitely be hearing back from us for another stay next year!
We stayed at Love Lane Getaway for a week, and it was a very comfortable stay. As many other reviewers mentioned, pictures do not do justice. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very elegant, neat and comfortable. The kitchen and the patio are fabulous and very spacious for the whole family to spend time together. The kitchen is very well kept and equipped. The layout of the house is very practical and cozy. My only regret is that we did to get to spend enough time at this house as we were out attending events for a wedding. Gary, the owner and the caretaker Andrea are very pleasant and responsive. It was such a pleasure to deal with Gary. He is so accommodating, understanding and most professional. We will definitely rent this place again whenever we visit this part of Long Island.
I had the privilege of staying at Love Lane Getaway recently for a weekend. My only regret is not staying longer. The house is gorgeous and perfectly maintained. Pics don't do it justice. We walked in and went "wow!" We were a larger group of adults but this could also be perfect for a family with kids. As if the property itself wasn't enough, the owner, Gary, was a true joy. He is responsive, kind and all-around wonderful. In fact I accidentally over paid and he emailed me immediately and sent the difference. I highly recommend this property.
We came to long island for the first time with our friends and children. The house is very well placed to drive around and discover the area.
The decoration and the style of the rooms and the garden are lovely, with lots of details to make a warm atmosphere. Everything was perfectly clean. We all loved this house!
The owner are very kind as well.
The only negative points are that the noise of the main road is permanent and strong and you cannot access to the water from the street.
My husband and I just came home from a three night weekend with our daughter, son, daughter-in-law and 18 month old granddaughter. We had owned a house on the water in Southold when the kids were little and always enjoyed the area.
The interior of the house is even prettier than pictured. The rooms and bathrooms were so CLEAN. They literally were sparkling. This listing doesn't show pictures of the bathrooms so I was a little worried. The bathrooms far exceeded our hopes. My daughter used the ground floor twin bedded room and the first floor bathroom. The tub in that room was perfect for the baby and we loved the hand held shower to wash her hair. Had it been warmer we all would have used the outdoor shower on the porch. The master bedroom was huge and had a TV, large walk in closet and a very large master bath. The towels and linens were good quality. My son and daughter-in-law used the double bedded room and put the baby's pack-n-play in the queen bedded room because it had shades on the windows. They had their own large bathroom right next to both of those rooms. All the rooms and bathrooms were so clean that I felt comfortable in bare feet all weekend.
We loved the large kitchen/dining room and although we didn't really cook (besides breakfast), it was a great gathering space to eat our take-out food. Love Lane was a perfect place to purchase sandwiches and meals. It's difficult to eat in a restaurant with an active 18 month old so we found food trucks and other outdoor venues for our meals and our granddaughter had the freedom to play on the grass. Love Lane is walkable from the house. We also found a playground in Mattituck and on the beach in Orient State Park. It was pumpkin picking time and we found plenty to keep us occupied. My daughter had to leave for work early on Monday morning and she took the jitney into the city and was there in about 2 hours. As I said....We all LOVED it!
The house was perfect and spotlessly clean! The pictures don't capture all of the charm and warmth of this house. The porch is so spacious and the furniture out there is quite comfortable for lounging with tea in the morning and wine in the evening. The owner, Gary, was easy to reach and honest and the "house manager", Andi, was very courteous. The kitchen is beautiful and has every imaginable amenity, one of my friends is hoping to redo her kitchen in the same format. We spent our mornings at the Blue Sage Spa, afternoons at the wineries and then went to A Mano for dinner, it was so good we had to go twice. The magnet on the fridge for Magic Fountain sent us for homemade ice cream. Love Lane is quick a walk away, but we drove, and had a fantastic breakfast on our last morning. We were looking a relaxing weekend before things get crazy with overseas travel and upcoming weddings. We couldn't have had a more perfect experience. Thank you!

Thanks for a great 2015 season!
As for 2016, The Town of Southold has enacted a new law requiring 14 day minimum rentals.
For now anyway, our hands are tied by this rather ill conceived overreaction to a relatively small problem.
We apologize in advance for the major inconvenience this is sure to cause the many totally responsible families, girls weekends, wedding groups and on and on who will find it difficult to find a place to stay in Southold Town.
The hypocrisy of the town's desire for tourism yet making it near impossible for people to find a place to stay is truly remarkable. If you agree, we would encourage you to share your feelings by calling the Southold Town Board at 631-765-1800. Hopefully they will come up with a more workable solution to the occasional noise concerns.
$2,500/week with a 2 week minimum and $350 per additional night.
Will customize availability to the extent possible. Payment in advance by check please.
Certified funds only if rental is paid less than 7 days in advance.
