Sunset Lake Hacienda is a beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with 2 lakes on 35+ acres. This private and spacious space has a 15 acre lake right out your back door and another 6 acre lake on the lower part of the property. Secluded enough to allow for privacy but only 5.9 miles from Montrose Regional Airport. 1800 sqf. of completely remodeled home with knotty pine doors and trim. Lots of room to spread out and all of the amazing sunsets you can handle. You have found it all right here.

We very much enjoyed our stay. we enjoyed the lovely sunset, the peace and quiet, and the comfortable beds. We spent one day exploring the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and one day on Grand Mesa. Both were great!

The cottage is clean, quiet and well-equipped. Lots of room and a pleasant view of the pond that’s on the property. We also liked being close to Black Canyon NP - our primary reason for staying in Montrose. We would return to this property.

Perfect place to relax

This property was perfect for our stay as we visited Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, very convenient location. The home was clean, had comfortable sleeping arrangements and great space to eat, play games, and relax as a family. Hosts were great, very responsive and gave good suggestions for our activities. The kids enjoyed fishing and exploring around the lake out back. At night, stargazing was amazing. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Peaceful backyard.

The inside of the home is updated and is also very welcoming and comfortable. The bedrooms were also larger than expected. Jason was easy to communicate with and very responsive. The fishing and the view made this a great family vacation and we hope to return again one day.

Great trip

We travelled to Montrose to get access to 4x4 trails near Ouray. The owners were great. There was a problem with the oven so the owner bought a convection oven which turned out to be great. The owner turns out to do 4x4 tours and had some recommendations which turned out to be great. They recommended a comedy show which turned out to be pretty good. Overall, we had a great time.

Beautiful Lake View

Jason and Laurie have a clean, bright home that’s perfect for families. The kitchen has all the tools you need to cook a full meal. Everything was very clean. It was nice to walk down to the lake and say hello to the chickens. Some of the neighboring properties do look like junk yards as other reviewers have noted, but you don’t see that from the house. It’s a great spot for visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison and Telluride. Good spot for birders too with the lake. Jason was very responsive to any questions we had. The welcome basket of goodies was a nice touch. Tip: outside chairs are folded up in the little game room past the laundry machines. We found them our last day there. Would stay here again!

Off the beaten path in Montrose

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property was spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable! As other reviews mentioned, there are a lot of nearby properties as you drive in who keep all their scrap, which is probably very useful. But, the neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. We didn’t get to enjoy the fishing at the lakes as much as we hoped, but was easy to access and fun to watch the geese and ducks and deer. Hosts were available, but we didn’t need them during our stay. Welcome basket was so nice! Only things to be aware of is tv only in living room (mentioned in listing), and kitchen may not be as fully stocked as other properties if you are planning to cook a lot. We had a quick weekend, so didn’t cook aside from breakfast and did fine. We would definitely stay again.

Neighborhood is not pleasant

The neighbors keep their area like landfills and junk auto yards. The inside of our house was spotless though. Beds and pillows were amazing! Lake is a term used loosely, so do take that into consideration. And just call before trip to make sure if everything is working. A few minor inconvenient problems occured during our stay, but they were notified and i am surw they will work to correct. We stayed here to be close to the Black Canyon, and that was the best! occurred and they profusely appologized.

Very nice home!

We really enjoyed our stay, the house it was super clean and had everything we needed. The snack basket, bottle of wine, and welcome card that the host provided was a very nice touch. We came to visit my son, daughter in law and grand daughter. It had very nice yard to play with my granddaughter and a nice large pond ( not a 15 acre lake). I was surprised when I turned down the street of the subdivision because It felt like I was headed to a savage yard, neighbors definitely don’t take pride in ownership, lots of unkept lawns and junk. I was a little concerned but I felt very safe once I got to the house at the end of the street. I would rent the house again because it had everything we needed, it was clean and very comfy. Just wish they could clean up the neighborhood.

Most EXCELLENT Property and Renter Care

From reservations to departure this property is the VERY BEST for guests. The house is lovely with a terrific kitchen with everything one could need and more. The decor and furnishings are very welcoming. All beds are INCREDIBLY comfortable with everyone reporting awesome nights' sleep. Bathrooms have been renovated into spa-like sanctuaries. The back deck overlooks amazing and beautiful Sunset Lake over which the sunsets and their reflections in the lake were wonderful. Over and around the deck, down the driveway, at the front entrance and all around the very large property is amazing landscaping with huge beautiful trees shading the deck . At the lake we saw and heard loons, ducks, geese and all their little babies. A rooster also was crowing. A true pastoral delight. Owners Jason and Laurie are true hosts giving us privacy except when we messaged them. Jason brought us farm fresh eggs and gave us an incredible amount of information about the area and on our way out brought us Olathe corn (the best in Colorado) fresh picked that morning! Laurie took care of any needs. We were THRILLED with our stay at the truly lovely Sunset Lake Hacienda in Southwestern Colorado.
