Rive Droite/ Rue Alger (Algers steet)
My sweet dream
Charming apartment fully air conditioned in the best neighborhood of Paris
This apartment, almost 25 meters square is ideally situated between the Louvre museum, the Jardin des Tuileries (Tuileries garden), the Place Vendome (Vendome Square) and rue Saint-Honoré. It was entirely remodeled in July 2010 to offer you all the comfort you deserve: air conditioning, visible beams, raw oak hardwood floors, a raw jade bathroom, Starck furniture, thick soft carpeting, Farrow and Ball paintings, a private stairwell and landing…
At 3 Rue d’Alger (Alger street), you pass the porch of this beautiful Parisian building and your apartment awaits you at the back of the courtyard. Take the windowed elevator to the sixth floor and you will find a small private door, you only have to walk up a few steps to arrive home.
The apartment, completely air-conditioned, opens onto a fully equipped kitchen (dish washer, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, grill, Nespresso coffee machine, water boiler, electric stove top). What a pleasure it is to enjoy breakfast around a bistro table and chairs designed by Philippe Starck!
Further on, you will discover a hallway with a dressing room (wardrobe and shelves) through which you will reach your bedroom, bathed in light thanks to the skylight. On the back wall, an enormous fresque painting, by the famous Parisian painter Pierre Gogois, delves you into a poetic atmosphere: the edges of the Seine and the concierge will softly rock your nights all along your stay.
You sleep in a queen size bed (160 m x 200 cm—it is possible to have two separate beds). Under the slanted roof, enjoy a cozy corner to read and dream.
You also dispose of a beautifully decorated bathroom with a shower in brut jade that has calming virtues. The sink is equipped with Italian cascading faucets, in which the water changes colors with the temperature. The water closet is independent and disposes of a small sink.
For high tech aficionados, know that in the apartment you will find a flatscrean TV with an integrated DVD player (cable channels), Stereo sound system with cd player, mini laptop and a wifi connection.
You are two steps away from everything… there is no better situation in Paris! At your feet the Musée du Louvre (Louvre museum), the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (museum of decorative arts), the Seine river and its barges, the place du Marché Saint-Honoré (Saint-Honoré Marquet square) and its trendy restaurants. Without forgetting la place de la Concorde (Concord square) and place Vendôme (Vendome square) (with its jewlers), decorated with a column from the top of which reigns a statue of Napoleon.
You will have only to cross rue Rivoli to go for a walk in the Tuilleries garden. What a joy to go there on a morning run or to stroll along the basins, designed by André Le Notre, Louis XVI’s gardener, to whom we most notably owe the gardens of the Versaills Castle.
Rue d’Alger is framed by rue de Rivoli on one side and rue Saint Honoré on the other. A true barometer for Parisian trends, this street is a true landmark for everything relating to fashion in Paris: Et vous, Joseph, BCBG Max Azira, Jimmy Choo, Sandro, Maje, Manoush, Maison de Famille, Vilbrequin, Zadig et Voltaire, Claudie Pierlot, Jérôme Gruet, Chantal Thomass, Bonpoint, Baby Tuileries, Zegna... without forgetting Colette, the hippest boutique in Paris, only two minutes from your home.
A few streets away, you can stroll in the gardens of the Palais-Royale, a flowering restful sanctuary. Going up l’avenue de l’Opéra, you discover l’Opéra Garnier, one of the most beautiful monuments of the capital. And there you are, near the « grands magasins » : Printemps et Galeries Lafayette, two temples for shopaholics.
Save some energy to visit the Centres Georges Pompidou- Beaubourg, the third most visited monument in Paris after the Eiffel tower and the Louvre museum. An essential landmark of modern art. You will conclude your visit to the museum by admiring the typical Parisian zinc roofs from Georges restaurant all the way at the top.
The most gourmet among you will be lured by the palace restaurants that surround you: le Ritz, l’hôtel Meurice, le Park Hyatt, le Crillon, l’Hôtel Costes, all this less than 10 minutes walk away. And why not take a cocktail class at the Park Hyatt bar.
At your feet, you dispose of a crowd of excellent and welcoming resturantes that you must try: Ferdi, le Pinxo, le Royal Madeleine & Chez Flottes, two true french « brasseries » to savor true Parisian specialties: le Voltaire, one of our favorite restaurants, and, on the other side of the Seine river, the restaurant du Palais-Royal: le Café Marly, with its incomparable view of the Louvre pyramide…
At snack time, offer yourself a sweet break in one of these three tearooms: Jean-Paul Hévin, a chocolatier who bakes intricate cakes, Angelina, a legend of Paris (with its extremely famous Mont Blanc, a cake with a chestnut cream and meringue base) or Laduréé, where tasting the macaroons is mandatory for all respectable foodies.
15 minutes away by foot (or 3 metro stops, or five minutes by bike, there is a public bike rental station at the foot of your apartment building), you will arrive on the most beautiful avenue of the world, the Champs-Elysées. There must also be a stop at the Grand Palais, a renowned museum in Paris.

If you are over 5'10" (1.78m) tall - forget it. If you are over 40" (100cm) around the middle - forget it. Apart from those caveats, this tiny place is almost perfect. Missing a few small details, like a dishcloth, napkins and a bread knife, but it even has a dishwasher. I have never seen a dishwasher the size of a microwave, but that's what's there! There is also a Nespresso machine hidden away behind the microwave - no space is wasted.
The toilet could use a soap dish, a towel rail, and a toilet roll holder, but there is plenty of hot water. The bed is comfortable. The heating works (can't comment on air conditioning). Might be a bit claustrophobic for some as there are no windows, only skylights.
There is an elevator but you do have a few stairs to manipulate at the top. Tight, narrow and twisty - large, heavy suitcases are a definite problem.
Adrien was really helpful and all services were delivered as promised. The location can't be beaten. Worth a serious look for two (not large) people for a limited stay.
My daughter and I stayed here for a week, and we were absolutely thrilled with the apartment! The location could not be better - it is quite literally around the corner from the Tuileries Metro stop; it is very quiet at night despite being in a popular area; and it's within walking distance of major attractions, including the Louvre. We felt very safe as the apartment is off a major thoroughfare, and there are several safety features to access the apartment. The apartment is light-filled, clean, and well-appointed. The AC worked very well, the beds are quite comfortable, the Nespresso machine was a fun bonus. William was very responsive and helpful as well!
My wife and I stayed here for 11 nights. What more can be said that hasn't already been stated? Excellent customer service, clean apartment, smartly designed. I liked the skylights that you could open easily for fresh air, or close and black out if so desired.
The small staircase leading from the landing to the apartment is very tight. I was impressed with how easily Adrien seemed to get our luggage up those steps. The area is very secure and felt very safe. There is a heavy door requiring an access code to get to the inner courtyard (typically kept open during the daytime due to a small boutique (Jack Russell Malletier) being located there). Another door requires either a passkey or being buzzed in to get into the apartment building itself. After getting off the elevator, for the apartment itself, there is an outer door requiring a key, and above the small staircase, another door leading into the apartment, with a nice strong lock as well. All the other residents that we encountered were very friendly.
Finally, our communications with William Royer, our primary contact with Rive Gauce Rive Droite, the company that manages this apartment, were a pleasure. He answered our questions quickly, and the whole process was very smooth.
One more thing, the pictures do not do the mural in the bedroom justice. It is beautiful.
The remodel on this apartment is ingenious. There's a lot in a very small space. Very efficient as well as charming, it was absolutely perfect for our needs. Comfortable bed, great shower, tiny kitchen ideal for making breakfast (I guess dinner, too, but who wants to cook dinner when there are so many terrific restaurants nearby?!). Even a Nespresso machine! A real highlight was the warm, efficient customer service. Before we arrived, William was very helpful and patient with all my questions and as we arrived, Adrien, the owner, happened to come out of his apartment next door. He spent quite a bit of time showing us the details of operating everything (wireless, etc). One caveat--- it really is tiny, with a low ceiling between the entrance/kitchen/bathroom area and the bedroom, and so might not be comfortable for anyone over 6' 2" tall...and getting large suitcases up the small spiral stairs is something I (being a small woman) was glad I didn't need to do by myself. That being said, if this posed a problem, they're so helpful that I'll bet you could arrange in advance for help!
After a long flight we arrived in Paris and were thankfully met and shown our apartment. It was exactly as pictured and the amenities as described. Discovering Paris from this location was ideal! The underground Metro was a five minute walk from the apartment. We were only a ten minute walk from the Louvre and about an hour stroll to the Eiffel Tower. Being in the heart of the city gave us opportunity to mix with the locals and tourists alike. There were numerous restaurants within walking distance and if you like to use a taxi the eating establishments within a short taxi ride were numerous! Just around the corner was a green grocer where we purchased our fresh fruit and breakfast food, daily. Although our stay was short, only 3 days, we did see as much as our jet lagged bodies would allow. Upon leaving the owner met us, phoned for a taxi for us and helped us with our luggage. The ride from the apartment to Orly Airport was short and inexpensive.
Our only suggestion would be that the elderly be advised of the spiral staircase access to the loft apartment. The elevator was great but the final climb for us was difficult. Young people would love it!
It was a pleasure dealing with these people throughout the booking process. Timely responses and clear directions. When we arrived early in the morning, our apt was not yet ready. William suggested we check in at their office and leave our luggage. They (William & Emanuel) greeted us by name, suggested a lunch spot and met us at the apartment with our luggage. We couldn't have been more pleased with the location. We walked everywhere and the Metro stop was very close by. We had an issue with the air conditioner the first day but they fixed it right away. The elevator was a real plus. The only drawback was the apartment was very small. Tiny kitchen and bathroom but we were there to sightsee, not to spend the day inside. Overall a very pleasant experience!
