Marin ToT 078730

Seclulded & sunny Mid-Century Modern guest house. Newly remodeled, large room with a luxurious Tuft and Needle Mint queen size mattress, premium linens and newly remodeled bathroom with very large shower. Adults-only property, not suitable for children under 18.

Please note, there is some outdoor repair work happening from 8-5PM on our patio adjacent to the unit and there may be noise from this.

Pool available for use (shared with other two-person guest unit and property owners) when it isn`t raining (it typically only rains in Nov-May in NorCal :). We have solar heat activated for pool in the May - October. November to April we can heat the pool (natural gas) for an additional fee. The pool is not suitable for children and infants for safety reasons and depth.

Towels and linens are provided. Microwave and refrigerator included as well as complimentary coffee/tea and light healthy snacks. A small dining table with two chairs for your convenience. Heated pool and Red Cedar Sauna available for your use.

15 minute walk to China Camp State Park, mountain biking, hiking, lots of wild-life. 20 min drive to Golden Gate bridge and San Francisco. Native California trees at your footsteps mixed with fig, pomegranate and lemon trees await you!

Safe, ample street parking is available; you must walk up a short gravel path (less than 30 seconds uphill) to access the property.

Tucked at the end of a private road with full privacy yet minutes from the highway for easy access to the city. Also a great starting point to the wine country.

There are two buildings on each edge of the property separated by a large yard in between. The first is your charming guest house, the second is the house where we live. Guests are welcome to use that outdoor yard fully, as well as the private patio.

Guests are also welcome to use the beautiful cedarwood gas-fired sauna and our medicinal herbal garden to brew their own herbal tea for the perfect relaxation retreat!

I like to give guests full privacy and be available as much as our guests need us. I would like to make sure that you feel at home and as comfortable as you can be when traveling. Providing you a home away from home. So, let me know what you need. I`m always happy to share any local tips about the area, Marin, Nor. Cal. and San Francisco. I lived in San Francisco for 14 years, and still go there regularly. I will be happy to share with you valuable info about local gems that will make your trip even more special.

I love living in this part of Marin. One one hand, you get walkable access to nature, wildlife, hiking and mountain biking and on the other accessible to downtown San Rafael, restaurants, gourmet food and businesses. The third largest farmers market in the state is just 5 minute drive away on Thursdays and Sundays, where you can get gourmet food and fresh organic produce. There is a relaxed, friendly vibe about Marin County that I`m sure you enjoy as well.

Although public transit (bus) is available within a 1/2 mile, we highly encourage you to have a car to get around.

Transient Occupancy Tax Certificate Number: 078730

China Camp State Park (mountain biking heaven) and historic park/beaches, Muir Woods National Monument, Point Reyes National Seashore, west Marin oyster farms, Mount Tam hiking trails and beautiful Marin beaches are nearby.

We have security cameras on the property pointed at the driveway and front yard/entry/pool area.

Safe, ample street parking is available; you must walk up a short gravel path (less than 30 seconds uphill) to access the property.

This is a lower studio unit in a two-story, two-unit building; there may be guests staying in the unit above. There was modern, heavy-duty sound-proofing added between the two units so that the only sound that may travel between is if someone wears hard shoes (we ask everyone to remove shoes).
In a folder provided in the unit you`ll find the house manual with WiFi info and other information / suggestions about the area.

Enjoy, Relax and please feel at home -- thank you for choosing to stay with us and welcome!

NO SMOKING OF ANY KIND ON THE PROPERTY OR IN ROOM: Where we live has extremely high fire risk. If you must smoke, you may do so at the bottom of the driveway, just be sure to take a can with water in it to extinguish.

DON’T STORE OR THROW AWAY MARIJUANA BUDS IN THE ROOM: We’ve had problems with these creating a terrible smell - if we find the room smells from marijuana it’s a $500 cleaning fee as it is incredibly difficult to remove. If you want to use marijuana, think edibles… :)

GARBAGE: If you wish to throw away your garbage, just leave it outside of your room and message us in the app -- we`ll come pick it up for you if we`re home. If we`re not home, then walk out the brown metal gate below the guest house (lift the bike chain off the post to open the gate) and walk up the hill about 800 feet to the garbage bins. Recycling is separated offsite for our house, so mixing is okay (still rinse recyclables with water as needed).

SHOES: We respectfully ask that you remove your shoes on entry and don`t wear shoes inside the cabin. Neighbor guest in the unit below. No loud stomping please.

GATES: Please remember to keep the front gate closed at all times

AC: Turn heater/Air conditioning off and draw the blinds down and closed on the south-facing windows when you`re out and about.

DISHES: Wash and put back all dishes prior to departure

ICENSE/OILS: No essential oils or burning candles or incense at all whatsoever

A Little Slice of Zen

We had a lovely two-night getaway in the North Bay, enjoyed a couple of hikes in the redwoods and at the Golden Gate Bridge, and relaxed and blissed out in the sauna and pool after. Eli and Adam were very responsive to my texts and went out of their way to make sure the pool was good to go after all the rain storms we have had in California. The place is clean but small, perfect for a quick trip for one or two people. The bed was very comfortable and there were complimentary snacks and coffee. Dinners at locally recommended Vin Atico and Sol Food nearby in downtown San Rafael were wonderful. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay.

Too strict

This was a first for us where there were crazy amounts of rules and regulations posted everywhere!!!! Made us feel like we were being babysat. We booked for the pool but couldn’t even use it because your can’t if it rains or “predicted” to rain. Plus host made such a big deal about the 20k cover. Furthermore, the pool is solar powered which is not enough to properly heat it in the Bay Area weather! The views are amazing though. The place was clean. Most everything is provided including coffee. Host does send you long list of recommendations for the area (food/activities) which we utilized and enjoyed. Your stay will be in one of two bedrooms: downstairs or upstairs. Host lives across on the other side. So your not completely alone. Hope this honest review helps.

I love spending my time in different places in the world. Coming from a Mediterranean culture and climate I enjoy living in California. On one hand you get walkable access to nature, wild life, hiking and mountain biking and on the other accessibility to top notch international foods from all around.

I am an architect and a Qi Gong teacher. I teach in Marin and in SF. I enjoy Qi Gong, healing arts, health and fitness. I like art and architecture and appreciate our proximity to these. My love of the outdoors and nature and brought me to live here in this particular spot in California. I love to cook so I appreciate good food and access to great fresh organic produce, like here. The third largest farmers market in California is just few minutes drive away from our Marin San Rafael guest house.

Adam, my life partner, works in San Francisco in the tech industry and is a great cook and a gardener. We grow our own vegetables and raise bees and get our own honey on property in San Rafael CA. We would love for you to try it!

I would like to help you feel as comfortable as possible when here, so let me know what you need and feel free to ask me for local tips!

If you're a guest in our San Rafael guest unit, Muir Woods National Monument, Point Reyes National Seashore, Mount Tam hiking trails and beautiful Marin beaches are nearby. The wine country is 25 minute north of our place, Sonoma and Napa counties.

Drive 25 minutes to San Francisco or take a scenic ferry ride directly to San Francisco from Larkspur Landing without the hassle of parking your car when in San Francisco.

If you are a guest to our Palm Springs location home, Joshua Tree National Park, Many beautiful and shaded trail with waterfalls are around us like Murray Canyon Trail. Hike up the South Llyken Trail and watch the elusive wild Bighorn sheep.

If you are a swimmer, you are in heaven! our pool is heated and half olympic size!
