very close to ski areas. house was extremely clean and tidy. Shot billiards at Monte Carlo lounge and the locals were also nice. Will be back again next year. House owners were very accomodating and very available.
Questa is a very small village located central to Taos and Red River. House was perfect for our family vacation. (5-Parents 2 teens kid) We shopped in Taos, explored Wild Rivers, Enjoyed Red River Ski area and had a great home base to relax and cook and enjoy .

Easy access to hiking and fishing. Northern New Mexico is beautiful. Good local food too.
The house had everything you needed.
In real life, the house is even better than on the photos. Great living and kitchen areas, comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms. The location of the property is also very convenient, there are a few grocery stores and restaurants in a few minutes drive. Enjoyed the time we had there and will definitely return next time.
Thank you Mark & Ginger ~
Your quaint home served us well as a staging place for an upcoming hunt. We were able to eat well and sleep comfortably after a full day of scouting. The single lane road up to the home provided for a quiet neighborhood. There was plenty of space for our family to spend time together, tucked away, up close to the national forest.
The cabin was just what we needed. Great location, nice accommodations, fantastic owner. He was very helpful from start to end of our stay. I would highly recommend this property.

Thank you so very much for having us, we had a wonderful time! The house is so lovely, welcoming, and comfortable. We enjoyed all the recommendations you left us, thank you! We definitely hope to come again!
The property is very nice with everything you need in the kitchen. The only issue is that the road to the property is a little rough and there is a lot of overgrowth around Questa in general. The owner can’t do anything about that. He does keep his property cleared.
A wonderful place to stay. Very quite neighborhood. The view of the night sky was amazing. We were close to so many trails and sights. If your thinking of staying in north New Mexico consider this property. Very clean and inviting home. The owners are very nice and accommodating.
Wonderful host. One of our party forgot her wedding ring and he was quick to contact us and get the ring sent back to the owner. Good beds and pillows. Very easy to get to red river. Great experience!
The neighborhood doesn’t look like much as you drive to it but the home is great! Very kind owners. There was a major snowstorm while we were there and the owner had someone come plow the road for us. There were a couple sweet dogs that made their presence each day, one blond, one brown….our kids named them “Cosmic and Brownie” lol! (parents will get it!). One of the best Mexican restaurants in the area is down the highway, El Monte Carlo (it’s in the back of a liquor store, but trust me, amazing food and service!). We would definitely stay here again!
This charming adobe was our base for exploring the areas around Questa. The house was close to everything, but away from the crowds at Red River.
What we loved about this VRBO: beds were comfortable, bedrooms were roomy with plenty of storage/closet space. The upstairs bath is bright and with great mirrors. Good storage there, too. The entire cabin has been decorated tastefully with much attention to detail. I like to cook some meals, and we had everything we needed in dishes/pots/pans/crock pot. The upstairs bedroom has AC and works great, and we were comfortable during the warm days and cool nights. Great TV and strong wifi. Nice to have two bathrooms, and washer/dryer.
Area: It took us awhile to find the right trails since we are not serious hikers, but like walking in the forest as opposed to the hot desert areas. Columbine Canyon Trail Head is in the campground, same name, about half way between Questa and Red River. Also try Eagle Rock Lake for trails, same highway. We also enjoyed walking up the Old Red River Road in the cabin's neighborhood.
Be sure to eat at Frank's Sweets and Eats, and Yesterday's Diner in Red River (best hot roast beef plate I've had in years; very reasonable.)
Overall, this is a great place to stay and the owners are very attentive. Note: when you get the directions to the cabin, realize that the street it is on has a very visible road sign; then it's easy to find.
Nicely kept residence within decent driving distance of Rio Costilla, Rio Grande, Rio de Los Piños, and the Conejos River. Roomy, very clean, all the amenities you need to come home at the end of a long fishing day and cook up some dinner before a great shower and comfy bed. Taos is an easy drive 30 minutes down the road. I take an annual solo fishing trip, and this was perfect for me, but if your significant other came along it would suit just as well for sightseeing the area. A definite repeat location!
