This one bedroom (king bed), ¾ bath cabin provides you with ample space for relaxation after a long day of activities. There is a daybed off the family room to accommodate 2 additional guests in 2 twin size beds. The bathroom is accessible from both the family room and the bedroom, so guests staying in the family room need not disturb those in the bedroom.

A fully equipped kitchen gives you the freedom of eating in if you’re too tired to try one of the many fabulous restaurants in the area. Relax on the sofa and enjoy cable TV, wireless internet, or simply unwind with a good book. A private patio offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills and endless stargazing at night.

This cozy cottage is the perfect home away from home for your Glenwood Springs vacation. Centrally located, yet off the beaten path, The Bear’s Den is a short drive to both downtown Glenwood Springs and Sunlight Mountain Ski Area. The Bear's Den is located in the peaceful hills west of town and shares nearly 6 acres of wooded private property along Four Mile Creek. Don't come this far to stay downtown when you can enjoy wildlife viewing during the day and stargazing at night. Accessible year round, The Bear’s Den has it all.

Glenwood Springs is truly a wonderful vacation spot with all its available activities. We are close to alpine & crosscountry skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, biking, rafting, fishing, shopping, or just soaking in the world famous hot springs... you’ll never run out of things to do! We are a pet friendly property and welcome both short and long terms stays.

(We own The Alpen Haus, The Alpen Den, The Bear's Den and Casa Del Sol. All of which are on the same property. Rent multiple units to accommodate larger parties of 20 or more.)

***Special Note for winter guests - All wheel drive or four wheel drive autos are required when staying in December, January, and February. Difficult conditions may also exist in November and March. We have the driveway professionally plowed and generally do not have problems. However, inappropriate cars can and do get stuck as elevation changes exist on the driveway as well as the possibility of slick ice and deep snow. Stuck cars do cause problems as the driveway services three separate properties. You are required to provide information about the cars that will be driven during the winter. Guests that become stuck are responsible for all associated costs.***

Why Mark Spidell chose Northwest

This house is just a short walk from our home. This allows us to be nearby if the need arises, but far enough away to provide privacy. With great views, the peaceful sound of the creek and the proximity to the great outdoor adventure, this property is truly special.

What makes this cottage unique

This property is special because of its location and unique design. It is close to town but also feels rural. You can adjust your plans easily as it is near many different activities. Awesome snow at Sunlight...10 minutes away. Want to go river rafting...10 minutes away. Awesome snow in Aspen...45 minutes away. Want to going for a bike ride...leave from the house or drive a short distance to some beautiful trails and paths. The back road to Carbondale starts a quarter mile away, and meanders through scenic ranch land where you often see elk grazing and the occasional coyote (a great road for biking or running as well).

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Bear's Den was the perfect place to spend our first trip to Glenwood Springs! Ideal location; we enjoyed a few hikes and just walking around the area, and it's such an easy drive to town. Far enough to really feel like we were away. Definitely look forward to coming back! Thank you so much for everything provided. Made vacationing easy and convenient and the den is so well kept! Only complaint is not having enough time!

Was a great place for three people. Great, clean space

  • 4 of 5

Had thought there would be more seating and yard space around the house, but other than that everything was great. There were lots of clean linens and plenty of stuff left in the house for us to use. Loved that they had recycling. Great place to stay would book again!!

Glenwood is great

  • 4 of 5

Could have been cleaner i.e under couch cushions was kind of nasty. Screen door busted too. But no big deal still loved the place

Trip for family wedding

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our small poodle, and I enjoyed staying at Bear's Den while in Glenwood Springs for a family wedding. Much of our family stayed at Alpen, which shares the quiet location in its beautiful setting, and we socialized with them in their VRBO and were able to have our privacy in the Bear's Den when needed. The Bear's Den has excellent space, and the decor is right for Colorado. We would recommend it for a couple with a small dog. The daybed in the living seems to welcome a child, too.

Open for a return stay !!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had 4 of the available spaces so we were "altogether". The accommodations were excellent, clean, attractive, well appointed and very "homey". Would consider going back in the future if all goes well. We THOROUGHLY enjoyed our stay. Mark was wonderful to deal with ... even met his handsome son. :-) Memories will linger for years!

Really nice!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our quiet stay at the Bear Den. A little humming bird landed on my lap while I was sipping coffee on the patio. It must have thought my pink robe was a flower! So sweet!

The place was comfortable, clean and homey!

Beautiful and relaxing location

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay at the Bear's Den - it was a very restful retreat. The location couldn't be prettier and the owners have landscaped the property so it fits perfectly into its surrounding environment. Inside the home is well appointed and equipped - everything you need for a comfortable stay. Guests also have access to a large volleyball/badminton court and horseshoe pit (where we played some competitive bocce). While it was only a short drive to the grocery for provisions it was peaceful and quiet and secluded enough that we were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the cabin's ursine namesake. Thanks to our hosts for offering such a lovely retreat.
