About this property
Kepuhi Beach, Molokai, Oceanfront Gem! What a view! Steps to the beach!
This property is on Molokai! Our second-floor condo is a 1 bedroom, plus sleeping loft, 1 bath unit that sleeps 6 and sits yards away from the beach with lovely views of the Pacific Ocean and Kaiaka Rock. It features an updated bathroom, full kitchen, TV, Wi-Fi for cell and laptop use, a nice couch to relax on after a day spent at the beach, a king-sized bed in the main bedroom, a full-sized bed in the sleeping loft, and a queen sized pull out couch. (You can see directly into the main bedroom from the sleeping loft so neither room is completely private if you’re using both rooms.)
We bought this condo in May of 2022 and have been steadily upgrading various elements of the condo as we are able. We’ve made sure that our priority is cleanliness and comfort! We’ve upgraded amenities that were an absolute must! So, what’s new in the condo: The entire condo received a fresh coat of paint in June of 2024. In the kitchen, you’ll find all new plates and dishes, new coffee maker, new crock pot, and a new blender. There are spices, oils, sauces, rice, and various other non perishable items for your use if you’d like. Please note that the kitchen oven is small! We do most of our cooking on the stovetop, outdoor grills, microwave, and crockpot. In the bathroom, you’ll find a new vanity and sink and a new washer/dryer all-in-one unit. In the bedroom and sleeping loft, there are all new pillows, sheets, and blankets. We also have new beach towels and towels for showering and bathing and new bath mats. Our dining room seats have new cushions and a new queen mattress and linens for the pull-out couch. New drawers are in the main bedroom closet and new drawers are in the sleeping loft. We hope that you will find our special home away from home with the best, most stunning ocean-front view, a warm and inviting place to stay!
Also, GECKOS: There are geckos everywhere! Inside and outside. Please don’t be surprised if you see gecko poop in the condo. It was a shock to us at first that these little guys are everywhere and poop a lot. And, yes, chances are you will find the poop on the floor and everywhere else. The cleaners will do their best to clean everything up before you arrive, but the poop, unfortunately, is inevitable. (It looks a bit like bird poop, just so you know!) Geckos will not harm you and are frightened of you. However, they serve a very useful purpose because they eat mosquitoes, ants, spiders, and other insects. Please don't harm them, you can whisk them away but be gentle.
The condo is a short walk to beautiful beaches, an oceanfront pool, stainless steel gas grills, and picnic tables with an expansive lawn for games, ocean viewing, and star gazing. There is also a sundry store with trinkets and food to purchase near the pool.
You'll enjoy unobstructed views of the ocean from the lanai, including glimpses of humpback whales in the winter and views of Oahu on clear days. You can sit and relax to the peaceful lull of the ocean surf, palm trees rustling, birds singing, and views of stunning sunsets all year long.
Right out front of the condo complex is Kepuhi Beach, which is great for surfing in the winter months, ideal for swimming and snorkeling come summer and the site of many paddle races to Oahu. You'll also be less than a mile's walk from Papohaku Beach (aka 3 Mile Beach), one of the longest beaches in the state of Hawaii with waters that are rough in the winter but calmer for ocean swimming in summer. Kepuhi Beach Resort is also less than a mile's walk from Make Horse and its many tidepools. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself to be the only one on the beach! This is part of the magic of Molokai.
We are seven miles northwest of the town of Maunaloa (the only town on the west end), and 20 miles west of Kaunakakai, where most grocery stores, art/gift shops, mini markets, restaurants, and equipment rentals are located.
This arid west side of Molokai, just 12 miles from the airport, is known for having less rain than the east side of the island. The wind blows on Molokai most of the time. The island is famous for its red dirt and the wind blows it into the condo regularly. You may need to vacuum or sweep the floor every few days and wipe off the counters in the bathroom and other areas periodically.
Molokai is perfect for romance, connection, families, solitude, and quiet. Discover the charm of Old Hawaii away from traffic lights (none on the island), tourist traps, and crowded malls. If you value seclusion and relaxation, the slow pace of Molokai is for you. Molokai is about entertaining yourselves and disconnecting from the world for a little while.
A word about Kepuhi Beach Resort:
Without going into a lot of detail, our condo resort started out as part of a hotel complex that is adjacent to our condo property. For economic reasons, the hotel closed operations in 2000 so you will see some buildings that are shuttered and boarded up. It is unsightly but isn’t something you will be seeing when on the majority of the condo property. One of the remaining agreements between the condo resort and the owner of the hotel property is the use of the common areas which includes the swimming pool. So you will walk past some of the old buildings (the entrance, reception area, and some meeting rooms) as you walk to the pool. The old restaurant faces the pool on one side (it was a wonderful amenity back in the day!) There are ongoing issues between our association and the hotel property owner but we continue to enjoy the breathtaking views from the oceanside pool which makes walking past some old buildings worth it.

About the host
Hosted by Diane Campbell

Originally from Ohio, I am a California transplant and am so excited to share our piece of paradise with you!
Why they chose this property
We love Molokai and its peaceful beauty. The ocean may be roaring but there is solitude and relaxation all around you. This is not the Hawaii you see advertised for the tourism industry. It's sleepy and undisturbed by the glitz, resorts, and chain stores you might see on the other islands.
What makes this property unique
Our condo is a rare second-floor end unit with a main bedroom and a sleeping loft. Lots of space for togetherness or for some quiet alone time. And, most importantly, there are unobstructed ocean views and just steps to the beach. I hope you'll love its homey, quirky feel because we wouldn't have it any other way!
