Circle J Ranch - 200+ acres of private Colorado experiences for family & friends

Circle J Ranch is the perfect Colorado FAMILY REUNION destination.  It sits on 200+ acres at 8400 feet of beautiful Colorado mountain landscape with private mountain, meadows, pond/ lake, springs visited daily by elk, deer and classic Colorado history.  A gorgeous family ranch for 60+ years it has a conservation easement to preserve this perfect summer and winter destination with 300+ days of sunshine a year.  This beautiful ranch is surrounded by the Pike National Forest on 3 sides. 

So much classic Colorado history took place here. The ghost town of Hayman, CO still has a large stove and foundations with 3 reclaimed mines where Copper and desperate searches for gold and silver never worked out for those risk taking immigrants. This is also the prior home of Gottleib Fluhman, the Swiss rancher murdered in the nearby Death Cave potentially by the volatile Benjamin Radcliffe. Some say Gottleib still wanders the property searching for his favorite lost cows whom he all named.

The home was remodeled in 2023, the open concept home includes 7 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, and can sleep 18 people. Nestled in the mountains, this property was once the historical town of Hayman and contains breathtaking views of Pike's Peak, 10 miles of private hiking and biking trails and numerous ruins to be explored. This is the perfect place to truly escape the busyness of life.

We take your safety and security seriously and this property has special local compliance requirements of a signed rental agreement, ID verification and a $40 damage waiver (covers accidental breaks, mishaps, due its rural location and extravagant extras, repairs are quite expensive and we hate charging guests for simple). 

To make this easy for you, we use a secure and very simple, app-free platform called Happy Guest. It is not an app, and you do not have to sign up for an account - it’s a safe and secure website. It also gives you a guest portal with all the info about the home and all of my favorite local spots.

We had a wonderful stay at Circle J Ranch! Multiple families gathered from ages 11-82 and all had a great time both on the property and all of the other adventures Colorado has to offer! On property, disc golf, fishing the pond and the trampoline were the most popular activities. It was unseasonably warm for the first couple of days but once we could open windows overnight and early morning, the house stayed cool. Jayna was exceptional with communication before and during our stay.

We had an amazing time celebrating a mini family reunion for my brother-in-law's 40th birthday. The littles had room to run around and play while adults enjoyed togetherness inside and outside the home. We had a blast renting UTV's and driving on the nearby trails. Exploring on the walkable foot trails and visiting the little lake yielded precious memories we will have forever. The hosts were incredibly helpful and responsive. This place checked the boxes of all we needed: Space to roam, plenty of sleeping spaces, big kitchen, indoor and outdoor seating areas, fun recreation nearby, peace and seclusion with few neighbors.

On the night we were arriving the area was under a winter weather advisory. Our host was in contact with us first thing in the morning and the entire day giving us updates on road conditions to make sure we arrived safely. The house was beautiful and our group had a wonderful time!

We just visited CircleJ in July 2026 for an extended family getaway and were very pleased with the property. There were 17 of us. The 9 grandchildren (ages 12-2) played and had the time of their lives. The home is beautifully decorated with everything we needed to make the large meals, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms and multiple areas to spread out. I loved watching the kids play with the little fort and jump on the trampoline. What I enjoyed most was watching the kids creativity soaras a huge rock became their castle and they became kings and queens The secluded, spacious property gave us the feeling of total privacy. The adults thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the deck with the gas fire table. We would most certainly rent this home again.

What a beautiful ranch. The house was perfect with wrap around deck, hot tub and very secluded. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen well stocked with a great gas grill. Can't say enough about this place.Will definitely stay again!

The house was great - we were there for our daughter's wedding weekend, and had some family/friends staying with us, then our family and 2 grandchildren for our last night. Property sleeps a lot of people comfortably, is great with young kids, and is also comfortable just for hanging out. And it's a beautiful property and setting! If you're going to be out in that area, I'd definitely recommend it.

Beautiful property. Very quiet and remote which made for a very relaxing stay. Rooms were comfortable. Kitchen pretty well stocked. Really appreciate having two sets of laundry machines to use. Fireplace made for a cozy environment. Reason I took off a star was this is not as pet friendly as advertised. Pets only allowed in garage and the garage was freezing. Host however was accommodating to allow our small elderly dogs to sleep inside in the crate provided.

Very nice place. Very clean with plenty of beds. Not crazy about all the metal chairs for dining table and bar - hard on the bottom.Did not have access to the pond and that was a big disappointment.

We apologize for the pond needing repair, unfortunately such large ponds are quite complicated to maintain and especially when they fail hard to fix. Luckily we should have the repair complete by September 2025

Nice Home for a Large family

We traveled with a family of 17 people. The home was secluded from others, nature was beautiful. The home had plenty of sleeping areas for all, nice spacious bathrooms, plenty of hot water, pots and pans, dishes, silverware and a grill. Lovely place to stay with a large family. Lots to do, see and discover on the property.

Family Vacation

Location was beautiful and remote. We hiked the property and did ATV rentals right down the road at the MLazyC Ranch. Also did guided fly fishing with Tumbling Trout just 4 miles from the house. The house itself is great. It has been updated and is very comfortable. We had plenty of room for our extended family of 13 ages 5 to 70!

Wonderfully secluded property!

Beautiful property secluded on hundreds acres of Colorado wilderness. The place seemed new, very clean and well decorated with every imaginable amenity. But nothing could match the beautiful snow covered forests and meadows surrounding the house. Perfect for a large family reunion if you desire some peace and quiet. We will definitely be renting again for spring or summer.

Super place for adventure

This place is a wonderful place for families to make memories. The older kids did a lot of hiking and exploring. We would have liked to fish but that wasn't available. the young ones Loved the trampoline and playset. The only downside would be that if it is really really hot outside, the bedrooms could be a little warm. They have fans in each room but some didn't quite do the trick. Overall it was a really nice place.

Our family gathering of 13 including 5 children under 5 loved this property. The layout is great for large groups not getting in each other’s way, the rooms are well lit, the kitchen well-stocked with food prep and table service items, the Wi-Fi’s strong throughout the property, the beds are comfy, the showers large with plenty of hot water, and two laundry rooms come in handy for cleaning up after all of the area’s activities. The owners made it easy to enjoy the house by providing more than the normal VRBO’s amount of paper products and waste bags, and the TV was easy to connect our devices to. The playground and trampoline were in great condition and the well-marked trail around the property was a great place for us to teach the grand kids trail hiking skills. I did miss in the property description that there wasn’t A/C in the house and it did get warm in the house midday but by evening with the windows open and the fans going the house cooled down for great mountain sleeping temps. This property worked well for our family!

Everything You Need

We were a large group of 21 with 16 staying at the house and 5 staying nearby. We were together for lunch and supper and there was so much room and dishes for us all. This is seriously the best stocked home. Whatever you need (Ninja blender, waffle maker, griddle, hand mixer) they had. This was the first vacation where everyone unplugged by choice. Our kids (4yrs - 22yrs) didn't ask about watching TV or playing video games. There's just so much to do on the property or nearby. We did a lot of exploring and it was always something new due to the property size and proximity to federal land. It was beyond beautiful and so peaceful. The quality, design, and care of the home made it hard to leave. It was an amazing vacation!

The Circle-J Ranch on 200+ acres has been in the family for over 50 years and we grew up working the land and loving the deep history. The original owner loved to share the stories of Gottlieb Fluhman and Ben Ratcliff and now we get to share that same experience with others.

The Circle-J Ranch at Elk Mountain is the perfect way to get away from the heat of summer with average high temperatures of 70-80 degrees all summer long with nothing but clear skies day/ night and the wind blowing through the trees. Wildlife is abundant and peace/ serenity in a luxurious newly remodeled home.
