The Grey House at Lighthouse Hill Ranch - 2,001 Acre Ranch

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 2 Bath, (Sleeps 10)

Lighthouse Hill Ranch is situated in the beautiful Texas Hill Country on 2,001 acres. With this much land it is your own private park to enjoy. The ranch consists of rolling hills, incredible 50 mile views, and has one of the highest point in Blanco County. Enjoy the abundance of wildlife on the ranch from cattle, bird watching, deer, turkey, coyotes, armadillos, jackrabbits, doves and variety of other animals.

Rental of any of our houses provides you access to the entire ranch (both tracts), which has numerous springs, over 4,000 feet of clear rock-bottom creek to swim and tube in (and including a unique creekside hot tub and waterfall grotto), 8 ponds to fish, a seasonal waterfall and miles of trails for riding ATVs, bike riding, hiking or riding your own horse.

We have 5 houses available to rent on the property and no two houses are within a 1/2 a mile of each other. 'The Grey House' is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch house with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, central air/heat and great fire pit to sit and enjoy the nighttime sky in the Hill Country. You only need to pack your overnight bag, we have thought of everything you will need to make your stay comfortable. The house sleeps 8-10 people. The master bedroom has king bed and ensuite bathroom, there is 2 queen beds in one bedroom, 2 twins in the 3rd bedroom and the sofa in the living room pulls out to a queen size bed.

The kitchen is furnished with coffeemaker, pots, pans, stove, refrigerator, microwave, glassware, dishes, silverware, linens, serving bowls, cooking utensils, misc. spices, knife block, toaster, etc.

The living area has leather furnishings where you can put your feet up and read a good book, watch DirectTV with movie channels, or head into town and rent a DVD to watch on the television. There is no telephone but there is an internet connection in the house if you really must stay in touch with those everyday hassles!

The front porch has beautiful views of the Hill Country and a fire pit with 'rocking' chairs that you can sit in an enjoy a great fire. There's plenty of wood out on the ranch - burn all you want! There is also a table and four chairs that you can use to have a meal outside. In addition, we also have a charcoal Weber grill for outdoor cooking (charcoal provided).

If you wish to bring your dog or your horse we have accommodations for them as well. Around the house is a fenced area that you can use to contain your dog, and near the Brown House on the property is a paddock with a water trough & feed trough. There is also a run-in and a tack area to keep your tack and feed dry.

In addition, we have four other homes on the ranch available for rental. We have a 3 bedroom/loft with 2 baths that sleeps 10-12 ('The Green House'), a 3 bedroom with 2 baths that sleeps 10-11 ('The Brown House'), our signature home a 4 bedroom/4 bath 4 story tower that sleeps 9-15 ('The Lighthouse') ), and a 3 bedroom 2 ½ bath that sleeps 6-10 (‘The Log Home’).

We look forward to having you at Lighthouse Hill Ranch!

About Kathy Meyertons

My wife and I purchased the ranch in 2004 for our enjoyment and for our 4 kids. It is absolutely the best purchase we've ever made. We love going to the ranch and swimming/tubing in the creek, fishing in the ponds, riding mountain bikes and ATVs on the trails, hiking the woods, and just generally enjoying a campfire with lots of stars on a clear night.

Because the ranch has one of the highest point in the county, we can see for 50 miles on clear days - and there's lots of clear days in this part of the country. There are 4 horses and 3 longhorns (along with a herd of 'regular' cattle) - it's fun to feed these animals, and our dog loves to chase the big animals (that is, until they get irritated and turn and chase him).

Kathy Meyertons purchased this house in 2004

Sweet little home and fun property....

  • 5 of 5

Perfect size for our family of 6 to quickly clean and head back home, not that we were in a rush. We have stayed at this property before and enjoy the freedom to let the kids roam. Our dogs were not well-behaved and the owners had to speak to us and require that our dogs stay in the fenced yard. This was completely appropriate of the owners to require of us. What impressed me was the way they handled this with us-professionally, and kindly, with no hard feelings. They truly are "dog people"!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

It was fabulous! Nice to have decent accommodations in such a peaceful setting. Had dinner on table outside by a campfire every night, views were amazing. Cleaning fee waived for exchange of a few minor chores -loved that! If was closer to my house, we'd be planning another visit. If even thinking about this area, we'd immediately book this place.

Perfect Setting

  • 5 of 5

I surprised my boys (husband, young son and dog) with a stay here. Earned major brownie points! Aside from the workers building the spa and grotto, it wasnt until the last day that we ever saw anyone else on the property--and we roamed all over the place! We explored the numerous paths with our truck (there was a spot or two where hubby got to 'truly' use his 4X4, but you won't have to have 4WD to visit). There are several places to fish. We caught and released a variety---and the water is just GORGEOUS!!!---ranging from clear (you could see the fish swimming around) to a beautiful auqa blue green, plus several ponds on the property. By far the best part was the swimming!!! EXTRAORDINARY!!! Clear water, a cave, a creek, shallow parts, deep parts, built in steps waterfalls, and so so absolutely beautiful!!! My son took his first cliff jump :-) We took a zillion photos and everyone asks for the info on where to book this jewel. We encountered deer, jackrabbits, cows, horses...and such scenic areas. We visited the Lighthouse up on a high hill that is described as the highest point in Blanco County - What views!!! You could see for miles!!! (And once you see the Lighthouse itself you'll want to book THAT!!) There's a small grocery in town, as well as a few joints to eat (we didnt try any). We visited Lyndon Johnson's childhood home and enjoyed checking out the town. The cabin was clean and plenty of room for us. We did get frustrated one evening; we had gone into town to buy steaks to grill and enjoy an outside dinner, but upon our return discovered the owners driving off with the outside bistro set without warning or notice. But we were just as happy eating inside with the comfortable furnishings and two TVs with satellite.

In summary, we highly recommend this ranch. Our days were spent swimming, fishing, exploring the ranch and wildlife, sitting on the porch enjoying the beautiful landscape and starry nights, and really bonding as a family - dog included! We sincerely appreciate the owners sharing this wonderful place with us----thank you! We definitely would like to plan future visits!

Owner's Response: We very much appreciate this great review! We love these comments, and hope to host these guest again soon. By the way, the spa and grotto waterfall are now complete. You can now sit under the stars, by the creek, in either a hot tub or a grotto waterfall. Also, the outside bistro set is permanently back in place. Thanks for the very positive review!
