Overview

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The Hideaway Hut is a quiet, comfortable home away from home and will be a place you will want to return to again and again. It is conveniently located mid way between two main towns on the North Olympic Peninsula, Sequim and Port Angeles. It is hidden away at the end of a road in the best kept local secret; a very small community over looking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. It has a unique access to the beach via a five minute hiking trail along a creekside which forms a lagoon at the end before spilling into the Strait. Beachcombing is a must on this special stretch of beach. Wildlife watching and photographing is a part of the entire experience here. The deer will be seen just outside your window and the eagles will be perched in the trees as you enjoy the views of the water.

The queen bed is very comfortable with a pillow-top mattress and extra sleeping accomodations for two are in the leather sleeper-sofa in the main living area. You will get a wonderful night's sleep with the quiet surroundings and the sounds of the waves lapping against the shore.

About Marjory Bartee

We feel very fortunate to be able to live in one of the most beautiful and unique spots on the North Olympic Peninsula and to be able to share it with travelers seeking to experience the beauty and wonders of this special area. We are located on several acres of land, partially farmland, partially woodland on the high bank waterfront bluff along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Our views are of the majestic Olympic mountain range to the south and of Vancouver Island, B.C. to the north. Having a wooded creek as our eastern boundary, we are able to provide the unique access pathway to the beach below. All of our several vacation rental homes enjoy the use of this same five minute hiking trail which is the most treasured feature of our properties. Wildlife abounds in this natural habitat where deer, eagles, river otter, seals and more are seen as an every day occurrence. We work daily at our other businesses where we sell home improvement products such as appliances, flooring, cabinets etc. We strive to have all of our vacation homes reflect our enthusiasm for inviting, quality interiors so that our guests feel truly welcome and at home while they stay in our homes.

Why Marjory Bartee chose Port Angeles

We have lived on this acreage for many, many years and have gradually developed several vacation rentals on it over the past few years. We love this beautiful land and try to keep it looking it's best for everyone who comes to visit so that they will enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this cottage unique

This particular vacation home is a cute, custom built cottage with the best views, and close to the creek and to the trail that leads to the beach. It is so quiet and private and when the deer stroll past the porch and nibble on the fruit trees, it is like a storybook setting. When the exquisitely beautiful peacock comes by everyone gets out their cameras!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

The Hideaway Hut is a great place to spend a day or a week (or even more) on the Olympic Peninsula. The kitchen has any appliance or cooking utensil you need and was very clean when we arrived. The view from the kitchen table is just awesome and on all three days I was able to spot bald eagles either flying or perched nearby. The bedroom also is nicely done with all kinds of pillows and blankets available for use if you need to set up the sleeper in the living room or want to go feather free. The bathroom is nicely stocked with plenty of towels available. The wifi was great and there is even a television with plenty of channels if you have time for that with all of the activities in the area and on the peninsula. A really nice thing was the house smelled clean and fresh with absolutely no chemical or overpowering perfume odors. I really don't think we could have ended up at a better place for our stay. There is a book with instructions and recommendations for everything in the house so we had no need to contact anyone after we arrived. Before arrival, I had made a mistake with the reservation and Marjory was quick to help me out and correct it. We had an absolutely wonderful time here as we explored Hurricane Ridge, Sol Duc Hot Springs, several waterfalls, and attended the Dungeness Crab and Seafood Festival.

Cute Hut!

  • 4 of 5

Location near the beach was great! Plenty of amenities in the kitchen. Great stay for a great price. The bed was a bit uncomfortable. Keep an eye out for frogs while staying there!

Magical surprise

  • 5 of 5

This spot turned out to be our favorite surprise during a visit to the Olympic Peninsula this month. The cottage itself is great and as described. Don't let the drive in to the property fool you. This sweet spot is tucked into an oasis of mature conifers with beautiful water overlooks. And for the spry and latent Peter Pan's in the crowd, there is a secret hidden garden path to an almost private beach for enjoying the waterfront. Thank you for sharing this precious spot.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at the Hideaway Hut, it was very roomy with a nice large bedroom with a sofa, bathroom with a washer and dryer, with sliders that opened to the back with a view of the water. The only thing we wished could be better of the location was we couldn't sleep with the blinds open to the bedroom as there is another home next to the hut and the people in that home kept walking past our hut on a regular basis to enter and exit their place, which was too bad as the deer frequented the front of our hut early in the morning . The Hut has everything you need, kitchen was very well stocked, lots of towels etc. it is in a great location with a path just behind it with a great views and another trail with keyed access to the beach, a bit narrow but so worth it to see the eagles and the beach! We would definitely stay here again!!

While we had a little bit of difficulty in finding the place, once we got there, it was beautiful and roomy. Would come back.

Car: necessary

The Hideaway Hut is in a secluded location with a backdrop of towering evergreen trees where eagles nest, above the private beach where seals and seabirds are spotted as the waves crash ashore. It is less than two miles away from the paved Olympic Discovery Trail, the perfect trail for pedestrians, cyclists or equestrians. It is also only a five minute drive from the well-stocked Agnew Grocery and Feed Store which has a large selection of wines many from our local Olympic Peninsula Wineries. Because it is so conveniently located mid way between the two towns of Sequim and Port Angeles, in an area called Agnew, it is an easy fifteen to twenty minute drive in either direction to the restaurants and shops and activities that both towns have to offer. The world famous Dungeness Spit, the longest spit in the world, is only minutes away by car or can be hiked to along the shore for those who enjoy hiking and beachcombing along the unpopulated, rugged beach. Be sure to plan your beach walks accordingly, however, as high tide can be treacherous if you are not prepared. (tide tables are listed in the local phone book)

The Hideaway Hut offers a place to relax with privacy and intimacy at a very affordable price. The entire property and grounds are at your disposal. There are several wooded trails that lead to waterfront look-outs where you will want to sit and reflect on the natural surroundings, the native plants, the birds, wildlife, passing ships, the sunsets or the peace and quiet of the property itself. You will enjoy a sumptuous night's sleep as you listen to the waves and enjoy the high end mattress and luxurious, hand ironed, high thread count linens.
