We are an eclectic urban couple -- we love city life but also enjoy getting away from it all. Irvington is the perfect getaway. We love to travel and appreciate privacy wherever we go. We are happy to offer that to our guests. We live full time in a vibrant city where we can walk to everything and love that we can do the same in Irvington.

Why David chose Irvington

Irvington has a special blend of charm and sophistication that is not often found in small towns. It's a fun and friendly place.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed for three nights with another couple at David & Laura's beautiful house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved everything about the house. Laura was great at communicating and getting us the information we needed for check-in and recommendations for groceries, food and wine. We liked how each bedroom had it's own bathroom. It was perfect for two couples. We enjoyed hanging out and eating on the back patio and had a perfect view of the meteor shower that was going on while we were there. The neighborhood is very quiet. We didn't check out any of the local places in Irvington, but did have dinner one night at Northern Neck Burgers in Kilmarnock. The rest of the time we just ate at the house. All in all, it was a great stay and we'd stay again!

A lovely home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Blue House. The house is lovely and Laura ( the owner) provided plenty of information about the area. It is an easy walk to local restaurants and an easy bike ride to many other interesting locations. It was so nice to have amenities (paper towels, tp, soap, etc.) provided. Thanks for everything, Laura.

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

The Blue House is the perfect getaway stay in the precious town of Irvington. It is within walking distance of everything. The interior decorations are charming, the beds are comfortable and it has everything you need. We had "overflow" of family staying in the house and all family members agreed we should rent it again when all of us gather again in Irvington.

Little Blue House

  • 4 of 5

We loved the little blue house! We came for the weekend for a wedding with my parents and my 4 month old daughter. The house is older, yet adorable and has so much charm! It's close to everything, so much so that my dad loved to walk with my daughter in his arms from the house around the town and back. Since we were in for a short and busy stay, we didn't venture out back behind the house, but everything inside met our needs. Thank you!

The Blue House: Precious and adorable

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in the Blue House over Memorial Day Weekend but because we have family in the area, we didn't use the house to it's maximum advantage and we wished we'd had more time there. Mostly we left early to join our family members and returned only to sleep but I have to say that if your visit includes just staying in Irvington and enjoying what that sweet town has to offer, this is your place. It's small but doesn't seem so and it's charmingly and simply decorated without clutter or unnecessary accouterments. We looked longingly at the backyard patio with it's surround of tiny lights and wished we'd had time to enjoy it. There were just two of us so we stayed mostly on the first floor only venturing topside to shower. That could be problematic if there is another couple upstairs and one doesn't wish to use the downstairs tub. And be forewarned that the stairs are a bit steep but not overly so. The house is wonderfully located within walking distance of shops, restaurants and a couple of churches. It's private and precious. Try it . . . you'll be glad you did.

If you decide to stay at the Blue House, you will not be disappointed!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Blue House and enjoyed every moment! We loved that the house was within walking distance to just about everything – lunch at the Local, dinner at Trick Dog, and wine at the Dog and Oyster Vineyard. We took a drive to Kilmarnock and White Stone (where we bought incredible fresh-caught blue crabs from Wade Hall). We also enjoyed spending time on the back patio, which was just delightful. On our last night, we walked over to the Tide’s Inn and had a wonderful evening on the terrace overlooking the marina and watching the sunset, followed by an amazing dinner in the Chesapeake Restaurant. If you decide to stay at the Blue House, you will not be disappointed!

New Year Holiday Stay

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here during the week of 12/27/16 to 1/1/17. The house ideally suited what I needed. Had many old friends over for a dinner and the location made it easy for me to visit all of them. The location is ideal to all things in the Northern Neck and the house was appropriate for my needs with my dogs being a main need. The owners Laura and David answered any questions we had as well as concerns with how to work the TV sets. After all, when it is time to turn in for the evening the news or a movie make for a good end of evening. Very positive experience and would recommend staying here to anyone that has an interest in what goes on in the Northern Neck.
