Perfect for couples or families wanting STUNNING MOUNTAIN VIEWS (from the cabin and the hot tub) in an ideal location! Romantic, luxurious & immaculately clean custom-built cabin, fully equipped w/all pine interior. Super close to Shenandoah Natl Park/Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, unique shops & markets, restaurants, horseback riding, fishing, golf, wineries/breweries, historic sites, Shenandoah River, Lake Arrowhead & the slopes of Massanutten Resort.

Managed by the owners and not a prop manager (so you get personalized attention), this two level cabin is large enough for guests to spread out (max 6 guests, only 4 adults) yet also romantic and perfect for couples as well. Truly gorgeous and impeccably clean property with breathtaking mountain views from nearly every window, all pine interior construction, a large kitchen w/custom hickory cabinetry, super cozy living room w/fireplace, bedrooms outfitted w/luxe Egyptian cotton linens, lower level family room for additional relaxation space, a mountain-facing hot tub under the stars, outdoor fire pit, WiFi, and so much more. Guests only need to bring their clothes, toiletries & groceries as your Hosts have provided everything else. Come relax and enjoy the mountains!

Guests have full access to entire home including upper decks with plentiful seating, lower patio w/outdoor fire pit, private hot tub, Weber propane grill, additional seating, and outdoor acreage. Magnificient mountain views from all patios and decks.

The Black Bear Lodge is located on Roundhead Mountain, easily accessed from a paved rural road and paved lane, 5 minutes to grocery/coffee/restaurants. It is privately situated on its own acreage, easily accessed by any vehicle, 4WD not necessary during normal weather conditions.

Such a beautiful site to pull up too. A perfectly curated with the fireplace cozy cabin chic. The hot tub with the view was absolutely amazing. The coach was perfectly nestled with a view to die for and a tv with every channel you wanted. Bed was comfy, and the house stayed nice and warm. 10/10 5 stars! Also I noticed last minute that they have everything you need to make a meal in the cupboards, like spices and tin foil.

Beautiful Property!

What a fantastic property to get away and take time to simply enjoy the distance between the hustle of the city. This was a work trip but wanted to take advantage of the rates to stay somewhere better than another hotel. The cabin was extremely clean and well kept with easy access. I highly recommend booking this property if you're alone or a family of 5!

Home away from home

Fantastic property with stunning views and close to all the Shenandoah area has to offer. Will definitely book in the future when we travel to this area in VA. I know many are concerned about COVID-19 and cleanliness. This place is by far the cleanest property we have stayed at before or during the pandemic.

Wonderful views! Great decor, clean, and loved that all light switches were labeled. No flipping multiple switches to find the right one. Homeowners were extremely responsive to any question that we asked. Looking forward to coming back in the future.

Stunning, immaculate, had everything for our family!

We stayed at the Black bear lodge in the middle of June with our 3 kids- ages 7-13. Our kids wanted to stay forever. The lodge was spotless and the owners have thought of everything, we really appreciated all of the light switches labeled! I love air conditioning and it worked perfectly, the beds were so comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We spent our days hiking in the Shenandoah National Park that was easy to get to, and our nights “binge watching” the amazing view from the porch. We would recommend this lodge to anyone who appreciates how much work these owners put into creating such a wonderful environment.

Too many rules, poor check in

Lots of rules upon leaving, and notes everywhere telling you how to use the pans in the kitchen, the shower mat, the grill, hot tub, what not to do, and threats of not getting deposit back. They ask you to take your garbage to the local dump or text them if you are leaving it. Never received check in emails and had to wait on porch for 30 min., luckily it was a nice day. Cabin and surroundings are nice, but a little too much on the rules side during stay and at check out for the price and for being "on vacation."

Amazing Views, Clean and Spacious Cabin

My friends and I spent a weekend here in August 2017 and had a fantastic time! It was the perfect amount of space for three couples (6 people total) -- each couple had their own bedroom AND their own bathroom. The house is beautiful and impeccably well kept. We really appreciated how much thought the owners put into everything -- there were helpful instructions posted throughout the cabin. The kitchen was well stocked, and there were plenty of towels and sheets for everyone. However, the bath towels were a little musty, so I would recommend bringing your own. We loved grilling on the patio, making bonfires in the fire pit, and especially enjoyed the hot tub. The views from this cabin are AMAZING. Since the house looks down on a main road, it's not very private, but a few cars driving by weren't too big of a deal. It rained one night, and we were even able to stay outside and play games on the covered porch. There was plenty of space for us to set up a corn hole game in yard. The only thing missing from the patio was a dining table and chairs, but they do provide a folding table and plastic chairs you can set up. We didn't see any wild animals, but one night we did hear something howling (a coyote?) pretty close to the cabin. But we ran inside before we could find out what it was lol. It's in a great location -- we went tubing on the Shenandoah River and it was only about a 35 minute drive. Only about 10 minutes from Luray, which was helpful when we ordered pizza one night. There's even a winery about a mile down the road! Overall, this cabin was the perfect mountain getaway and we're already planning our next stay.

Immaculate home

In a beautiful location! Great to sit on the deck or in the hot tub and look at the mountains. Very comfortable home — beds, couches, space. Lots of storage, nicely equipped kitchen. It was just the two of us, but the two levels would be great for two couples or a family.

Great getaway close to Shenadoah

This is our second time renting from this property owner and it was again a great experience. The cabin was immaculate, well-appointed and welcoming. We made use of the fire pit (despite the wintry weather) and had a lovely time.

Gorgeous relaxing view

Loved the view! Spent lots of time relaxing on the balcony. Saw a hummingbird and deer. Property managers very helpful and easy to get in touch with if needed. Very clean. Was the relaxing vacation needed in the time of social distancing!

Amazing Views and Amenities

My husband, daughter and I spent three nights here over New Years. We had a lovely time relaxing at the house, enjoying all the amenities. The views can’t be beat. The house was nicely decorated for the holidays. There’s a fabulous playground near the Food Lion that we visited a few times. We had a wonderful time!

Mountain getaway

We had a wonderful time staying at the Black Bear Lodge. It's the perfect jumping off point for a mountain getaway. The view from the home is simply wonderful. We spent our mornings and evenings just taking in the views of the valley. We managed to go on a hike in Shenandoah National Park, walk around Luray and even met Ben Jones of the Dukes of Hazzard at Cooter's in Luray. The home is clean, well stocked with kitchen utensils and cooking equipment. The beds and bathrooms were comfortable and clean. We would highly recommend the home to other travelers. Overall, the best part of our trip was all of the memories we created. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

We loved our weekend getaway at this cabin! One of the nicest rentals we’ve ever stayed in. We had a brief snag upon arriva with the door code, but Lisa was very responsive and had it fixed in just minutes. The kitchen was well equipped, and it was great not having to bring linens, trash bags, TP, and all the little things that can add up and take up valuable space! We enjoyed the hot tub, played with puzzles, and liked both the solitude as well as the short drive back into town. TV service was perfect, and the couch comfy for us to take in some March madness and a spectacular UVA win! The views from the porch and hot tub were also fantastic! Thanks again for sharing your cabin with us.

We have been mountain lovers since we married over 25 years ago and are realizing our dream of building and renting mountain cabins in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. We met a gifted and extraordinarily talented builder who has built three cabins for us. The Black Bear Lodge is the 1st of these cabins and we feel truly blessed to call it ours and are excited to be able to share it with others!

Why they chose this property

This home offers the most amazing views of the mountains and valleys of the Shenandoah...truly 180 degree views of ever-changing mountains above and pastures below. Front row seats to the sunrise and to a night-sky are free from the porch and patio! It is so close to all that the Shenandoah Valley offers & offers superior construction and attention to detail.

What makes this property unique

This home spoke to us the moment we first saw it. The views are indescribable: the Shenandoah Valley literally spreads out in front of you and the mountains of Shenandoah Nat'l Park surround the valley. We have grown to love the sounds of the cows in the pastures around the home, the smell of storms as they roll through the valley, and the true silence that you can only find in the mountains. The views from the windows and doors inside the home still catch us by surprise and never cease to take our breath away.
