Perfect cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was really nice and cozy. We loved the old log cabin feel mixed with modern amenities. The master suite was a great size, especially the bathroom. We'll definitely come back during the summer to take advantage of the river access and large yard.

Rustic, rural, peaceful.

  • 4 of 5

Great place to get away. Miles of hiking for us and the dog, right out the back door. Beautiful views. Good location, not far from Luray and the town, but off the beaten path. Any complaints we had were minimal. Lovely experience.

Fun Weekend Away

  • 3 of 5

My friends and I had a beautiful weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The house is lovely and comfortable. The full kitchen was great for us! Unfortunately, as I was originally looking to book a place I search for two parameters: 1) Pet friendly and 2) Hot tub. The hot tub was broken. I found out approximately 1.5 hours before check in that the part ordered wouldn't arrive until after our stay, so we would not be able to use the hot tub. This was extremely disappointing to me. While I understand things break and you an't always control when a repair will be in place, I would not have booked this place otherwise. I would have appreciated being provided a discount as me and my party could not use the main amenity for why we booked.

Annette was responsive, which I appreciated.

The towels reeked of mildew. Likely from being left in the washing machine for hours time and time again. I recommended to Annette to wash them in vinegar or replace them. She seemed receptive to that feedback and kindly offered a discount on a third night for a future stay, buy I do not think we will come back due to the no hot tub - a treat afforded to me once every two years. Now I have to wait until 2019 for a nice soak.

Owner's Response: Andrea, Thank you for sharing your experience! To clarify, check out time is 11am. When I offered to extend your stay till 3pm (as I could because I did not have anyone coming right back in till next day) this was an offering of compensation for hot tub being out of service during your stay and you were able to take advantage of this offering so therefore I do feel as I compensated you. My cabin is surely worth every penny spent with or without a hot tub. I do realize when hot tubs go out ---this causes disappointment - and is beyond an owner's control. Now had you booked direct with me ( versus using listing company) there would have been other options available. My hot tub heater had just burned out a couple days prior to your arrival and the Spa company serviced and ordered heater right away ( I had hoped it would be fixed the day of your arrival is what the goal was) of course, I then found out part was back ordered so then I emailed you to let you know what to expect and expressed my apologies for this inconvenience. As for my towels: No one before you has ever said my towels reeked of mildew and as I stated in a return email to you when you brought this to my attention, "Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention --as if no one tells me I might not catch this due to I have someone who cleans for me. I will investigate this situation right away and correct in whatever way necessary." Although myself nor my help is perfect - we do strive for excellence! My offering of the IN THE FUTURE STAY and discounting a 3rd night stay to just $99.00 plus tax with rental of 2 nights excluding holidays or holiday weekends is my way of saying, "Thank you for the feed back and in this case, Thank you for the review so our potential future guests will realize I do care and again we strive for excellence!" I do appreciate the acknowledgement of our restored 1850's cabin being lovely and comfortable. Annette Cates (owner)

Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family of three spent a wonderful spring break in the Massanutten Springs Cabin. The cabin was ideal, providing a relaxing atmosphere with everything we needed. Customer service was outstanding, from reservation to check-out. We hiked and canoed in the nearby area, and settled in each night with a nice outdoor fire. I highly recommend this cabin.

Luxury In Isolation

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is the perfect combination of quaint yet luxurious and nostalgic yet modern. The soaking tub with the candelebra is almost decadent, especially if you share it with that special someone and a glass of wine! The wood finish and spiral staircase, master bathroom and fireplace are just breathtaking! The customer service was outstanding and the cabin is clean and well- stocked, nestled in a quiet clearing with a mountain view! I'm glad this wonderful vision exists and it was a privilege to stay here.
