About Peter Allen
My family has summered on North Haven since 1914. My grandfather was a sculpter and knew Frank Benson, the owner of Wooster Farm from 1905 to 1951. I grew up playing tennis on the clay court.
Peter Allen purchased this Farmhouse in 2011
Why Peter Allen chose North Haven
As a tribute to Frank Benson and to my father and grandfather, I bought Wooster Farm in 2011 and have renovated it and preserved it in its original condition and have opened it up to thousands of art lovers who have enjoyed seeing where Mr. Benson painted and etched.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Wooster Farm is an enchanted place where people make happy memories; there have been a lot of dances in the Barn and families have had fun playing on the tennis court and baseball in the front lawn and walking the pristine beaches nearby.

Blissful natural beauty in North Haven Maine
Staying at Wooster Farm is a dream. Our family all got together to enjoy this scenic large private property on North Haven Island. We ate lobsters, played on the front lawn, boated and relaxed. Absolutely loved it.
I loved having your extended family at Wooster Farm. You are Benson art collectors and you all will always be welcome back on the Farm. Your smiling faces in your photos of your stay say it all.
Fell in love with Benson Farm six years ago and keep going back!
We’ve been going to the Benson Farm for the month of August for the past six years – we went on a whim the first year, fell in love with the place and keep going back. Actually, not only did we fall in love but so has our extended family (grandparents, aunts/uncles and cousins) who never miss a chance to come visit us while we are there! You could not ask for a more idyllic corner of the world to relax and enjoy your summer days. The house sits on an expansive property on a small peninsula so you enjoy views of the water from both the East and the West. You wake up in the upstairs bedrooms to the sun rising over the water and you watch the sun set over the Camden Hills on the other side in the evening. We spend most of our time outside – whether playing on the tennis court, jumping into the water off the dock, walking on the beach, biking around the island, playing ping pong or board games in the barn, playing all sorts of sports on the front lawn, or just sitting in the grass or on the porch and enjoying the sun and the beautiful views. Our three children (who are now 13, 11 and 8) love the freedom of being able to bike the three miles to the grocery store and playground/basketball court or the six miles to town to get ice cream or look around the gift shop – it’s a very kid-friendly place. The house is large and there is room for a number of people to stay so it’s a great place for families to get together. We eat, talk, laugh and relax. In fact, from the moment the ferry leaves Rockland to cross over Penobscot Bay to North Haven, you feel the stress melting away. I actually took pictures of various views from the house and put them in my office to try to maintain my North Haven summer zen throughout the year! It’s really a gorgeous spot!
Chantal and her family have been ideal guests for many years. They are always happy and active or peaceful and content as they enjoy the natural beauty of the property. It has been a wonderful place for their children to grow up just as it was for my father, myself and my children. North Haven allows us to live freely and happily under the watchful sun, moon and stars, listening to the constant melodic sounds of the birds, wind and waves.
A GREAT PLACE FOR THE FAMILY
WOW..... I don't have enough words to describe how beautiful this house is. The property is spectacular the views of the water sensational. It is a piece of paradise. Not to meniton the history and that beautiful barn........My family have many many memories.
It has been a joy to have Chris and his wonderful family staying at Wooster Farm for the last five years. They stay five weeks every summer and live a full island life there including boating, seashore walking, tennis on our clay court, ball playing, bicycle riding and of course lobster eating. We plan on having them for years to come.
You can't beat Wooster Farm
In late June, my three generation family of 15 will return to Wooster Farm for a week for the fifth time. The place is idyllic. Views to the west of the Camden Hills and to the east of the Fox Island Thorofare are picturesque. North Haven is a terrific place to get away from it all and live simply surrounded by natural beauty. Days are spent jogging, riding bikes, playing tennis, exploring beaches, and just plain relaxing. Our grandchildren spend many happy hours playing under or in the old apple tree. Evenings we play cards and board games. Our favorite activity is exploring the waters and islands around North Haven. We favor Brimstone Island located about five miles south of Vinal Haven. It's uninhabited and has an amazing shingle beach and a hill with great views of Penobscot Bay. In short, Wooster Farm is a true piece of paradise.
It is wonderful having Ned and Janet and their extended families come each year. They love walking the pristine beaches, collecting shells and other "gifts from the sea" and gathering for family time away from the rest of the world. I cherish their longevity at the place as their ancestors have been at the house since 1905. It is for families like their's that I so enjoy stewarding this magical and timeless home on the waters of the Penobscot Bay.
Gorgeous private clay tennis court on property surrounded by water on both sides. Paint/draw/take photos; the barn was used by Frank Benson to paint his famous oils of his daughters. Community center with movies, plays & lectures, gift stores, library.
