Our stay at the Golden Egg Cottage was delightful! After figuring out where to go, the place was very clean and offered my friends and I a great place to stay each night.
We loved our stay at the cottage. Easy access to everything in Colorado Springs.Neighborhood was very quiet and we loved watching the chickens in the yard.Highly recommend and we hope to stay again!
Everything was perfect!! The bed was so comfortable!! So cute inside & had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again!! Also, so clean & very responding host!
This cozy cottage was conveniently located near downtown and was super clean. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a slow cooker. The hosts left us fresh eggs from their chickens and fresh coffee from a local coffee shop--two unexpected bonuses that made our stay even better. We're looking forward to our next visit!

About the host
Hosted by Jason and Darlene Hanson
Hello and welcome to The Golden Egg Cottage! We are so happy that you have chosen to stay with us.
A little about us, we are high school sweethearts and have been married for many MANY years. Jason is born and raised in Colorado Springs and is a stay at home dad who has a passion for biking. Although he enjoys both road and cross, his heart is in mountain biking and single track. Colorado Springs is the perfect spot for mountain biking because you do not have to travel far to find the trails. Just hop on the Santa Fe Trail to get there, and if you need recommendations on where to go, just ask. Jason loves talking bike! Darlene is an Air Force Brat who calls Colorado Springs her home. Although half of her heart will always be in Hawaii, where her family is from, Colorado is where she has chosen to plant her roots. She is a pediatric nurse who is passionate about enriching the lives of her patients and her colleagues. Darlene enjoys practicing yoga at her favorite studio, Hot on Asana, or running (although that's a love/hate relationship). Our two beautiful daughters, Leila and Amelia, definitely keep us on our toes. They are sassy and fun, and we enjoy strolling together to Boulder Park, the little library located on Sheridan, or to Switchback for a treat. And last but not least is our old little pup, Henry, who soaks up any attention and loving he could get.
We know how it is to travel and to have our expectations either dashed or exceeded. It is our hope to always meet or exceed expectations and achieve that coveted 5 stars. So welcome to our humble abode and we hope you fall in love with it as much as we did!

What makes this property unique
Our bright 320 sq ft cottage is a labor of love, breaking ground on March 2018 and welcomed our first guests on September 2018. We are so happy to finally share it with the world to enjoy. You can follow the story on Instagram, the.golden.egg.cottage.
Some might wonder, what's with the name?! We chose the name "The Golden Egg Cottage" for three reasons:
Our youngest daughter has Vein of Galen Malformation and has endured multiple brain surgeries to correct it. Because of this, she has been lovingly referred to as the "Golden Egg" due to how much her medical bills are. So our hope is to offset this with the cottage.
The cottage is also our nest egg for early retirement. Our ultimate goal is to spend more quality time with our family, have more adventures, and most importantly to also save our kiddos from student loans.
The cottage also overlooks our hen house and garden, bonus!
